Suspicious Minds” was written by Mark James. James was playing on his Fender guitar and Hammond organ pedals and came up with a melody. The storyline of the song is based on James’ personal experience. He was married but still had feelings for his childhood sweetheart who was also married. James’ wife was suspicious of him. James felt all three of them were “caught in this trap that they could not walk out of.” “Suspicious Minds” captures the mistrust of the circumstance and what they needed to do to move on. Rolling Stone reports that James recorded a track of the song for Scepter Records in 1968 that had a country take. His version did not chart.

Doing a cover of a huge song from a huge artist that arguably has the most strong fanatical followers is already a huge challenge. Making an almost new song out of it is already stepping on a danger zone. But Angelina took all the risk with this one and made this old classic song current while still paying homage to the one and only King of music. About Angelina's dream to sing for the world. @@pcih6176 donkey. AJ wasnt competing with Elvis, she was paying respect to Elvis. Instead of being a pathetic glob of cells, watch the Heart video of them singing Stairway to Heaven.....in front of Plant, Page and Jones. Were they trying to sing it better?

It's almost not fair to the music industry. At 16, she is the most talented female singer on the planet. It's not just her voice though. Her pronounciation, phrasing, and understanding of what she is singing is off the chart. The producers for the Elvis movie have to be thinking that this recording should have been in the movie. It's flawless.

Yeah 'murtheblur' it's baffling that Laz Buhrmann wasn't aware of this possible Angelina effort being in the works when he went to assemble the soundtrack. Perhaps it was simply timing being off, because I can't imagine the chosen cover of Suspicious Minds not being Angelina. Baz chose an artist by the name of Paravi Das, and she is talented, and has a warm, deeply soulful, definite quality ... to her voice, but missing out on placing Angie on this soundtrack is unfortunate for all.

I haven't seen the movie, but I think this version of the song has an entirely different meaning than that when performed by Elvis (which when you see the Elvis performances seem to put the lie to the lyrics). I imagine that including AJ's version in a biopic on Elvis would put an entirely different meaning. Probably not what should be applied.

AJ never misses. It's amazing how you can hear her songs & covers and never get tired of them. Her tone is soothing, captivating and soulful. I truly enjoyed everything she sing and I'm always in the lookout for what's coming next!
