About the "Like a Prayer" song. Ryan Reynolds wrote the scene with all Deadpools fight around this song, and when it came to post-production, it turned out the song is not for licensing. So Shawn Levi and Ryan Reynolds went to Madonna herself and after a talk, she allowed to use this song. This was a story told in one of the press-tour interviews for this movie.

Yes, Ryan had a dance double. During promo for DP2 he talked about some kind of hip thing being why he didn’t personally perform the dancing in the music video for the Celine Dion song Buck not having speaking lines is a callback to DP2! He told Buck no more speaking lines! 😂 Wolverine is in fact quite short in the comics. 5”3. A long time nitpick of Hugh Jackman’s casting was him not being short enough. Wolverine variant rundown in order. •Comic accurate height •Weapon X (Age of Apocalypse) •X crucified ala Uncanny X Men 251 cover •Patch. Gambling alias he uses in Madripoor, which has appeared in the MCU! •Old Man Logan •Henry Cavill Wolverine may be an action figure reference It took so long for the classic blue and yellow because being faithful to the more cartoonish colorful looks was considered risky, wouldn’t be taken seriosuly enough, with a few exceptions like Spidey. Also The Matrix made black leather popular Yup, that’s Pyro from the original trilogy Dogpool is played by famous dog actor Peggy. You don’t know Blade?! Also Ryan Reynolds was in the third Blade movie, and Wesley Snipes wasn’t fond of him, hence Deadpool saying “You never did [like me]. Blade is getting an MCU movie starring Mahershala Ali, and it’s been delayed numerous times The woman was Elektra from the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie and self titled movie played by Jennifer Garner If you didn’t know, there was supposed to be a Gambit movie starring Channing Tatum. It got put on hold when Disney bought Fox, and then they just cancelled it. After this, Tatum said he hoped it would renew interest in the movie, but it’s ultimately up to Feige. Ryan Reynolds also said he’d like to work on it with Tatum. And he released a deleted scene of a portal opening for Gambit, implying he makes it out of the void. You can actually see it on one of the TVA screens in the credit scene Yes, it’s meant to be the same Laura I believe. A Laura movie was said to be in development but it seems we haven’t gottan any news since 2017 This is definitely meant to be the Deadpool from the first two

I'm curious about the certainty that this is the original Deadpool. When he gets grabbed from his apartment he was from Earth 10000 and something. When Logan dies, isn't that supposed to be Earth 616? Any help understanding this would be appreciated.
@jonmercano1138
@jonmercano1138 Ай бұрын
@@seankane9508 Oh boy, timelines and their numbers. While I haven’t read them, apparently the movie universes get official numberings in the Handbook(s) of the Marvel Universe. The Marvel fandom site gives unofficial Temporary Reality Numbers to timelines that haven’t been given an official number. For years now, the timeline of the X-Men movies is officially 10005, but I think this is the first on screen appearance. On the fandom site, the X-Men timeline post Days of Future Past is labelled TRN 414, _but producers have said it’s still the same universe._ Technically the Logan movie is supposed to be in Earth 17315, but it may be a possible future of 10005/414. Deadpool 1 is part of 414, Deadpool 2 got its own official number up until Wade’s time traveling shenanigans and now the version of that movie with the changes he made is part of 414 also. The site chalks up all of it being labelled 10005 in this movie as a TVA designation until there’s official clarification. So this is meant to be the same Deadpool we’ve been seeing since DP1 616 has long been the official number of the main _comic book_ universe/Prime universe, and relatively recently it’s been used as the designation for the MCU by characters either lying or unaware of the real 616. The MCU has had a different official number for a long time, 199999. It was even said in Across the Spider Verse.
@fangirl_43
@fangirl_43 Ай бұрын
@@seankane9508 Deadpool is from Earth 10005, same as Logan/Wolverine, the one from all the previous X-Men movies, there is no Wolverine in Earth 616 yet (aka the MCU, which is part of The Sacred Timeline). Timeline wise, he dies in 2029 and the present day of the movie is 2024, so from Deadpool's point of view it technically hasn't happened yet, but since Logan was the anchor being of that universe, it is doomed to be erased and Paradox wants to accelerate the process. The TVA is supposed to be detached from any timeline and universe, it is its own sort of realm, same as the Void. The subway with the Time Ripper is Earth 10005 because it's the same street at the beginning of the movie and you can see it is because Wade and Logan (from a different universe) go back to his apartment. Let me know if this clears things up

Wesley Snipes set 2 Guinness World Records thanks to this appearance: One for longest time span between first and most recent appearance as the same Marvel superhero character (his first appearance as Blade came in 1998, 26 years ago, surpassing previous record held by Patrick Stewart (who had a 22 year span)) and the second being longest GAP between consecutive appearances as the said character (he last played the role in BLADE: TRINITY 20 years prior in 2004). Hugh Jackman and Tyler Mane also surpassed Patrick Stewart's previous time span record as well, having 24 years between first X-MEN and now. Jennifer Garner set the equivalent female records (21 years since first appearance in DAREDEVIL (2003) and 19 years since last playing the role in ELEKTRA (2005)).

This movie is basically an homage to the early 2000's Marvel superhero movies (in other words, the films that came before the MCU), and somewhat redeem some characters like Elektra (Jennifer Garner) and Blade (Wesley Snipes). I didn't like the way they treated Johnny Storm/Human Torch (Chris Evans), but I liked that the other forgotten heroes got their proper send off. Of course, they still have a chance to make a fourth Blade movie with Wesley Snipes... Feige, make it happen!

Thought I'd break down all the differant Wolverine variants for you: *Short King Wolverine* - Standing at 5'3", Wolverine (Earth-616) first appeared in The Incredible Hulk #180-181 (1974). Despite his short stature, he’s portrayed as a fierce Canadian mutant with an unyielding spirit. Wolverine officially joined the X-Men in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975). While canonically 5'3", he’s often drawn closer to 5'5" in the comics, though his short, stocky build remains one of his defining traits. *Age of Apocalypse* (Weapon X) - In this alternate timeline, Legion (Earth-616) goes back in time and accidentally causes the death of his own father, Charles Xavier, while he’s still in college. This event births a new timeline (Earth-295) where Apocalypse rises to power 10 years earlier, leading to Earth’s domination. Without Xavier, the X-Men never form, and Wolverine becomes Weapon X, sporting black leather, a metal right hand, and longer, wild hair as he navigates a dystopian world. This version of Logan is darker and even more savage due to the grim circumstances of this timeline. This timeline would re-place the mainline X-Men comics for a while until it was fixed, reverting back to the Earth-616 we know and love. *Patch* - While operating in Madripoor, Wolverine (Earth-616) took on the alias "Patch" to blend into the criminal underworld. Sporting a white tuxedo and an eyepatch, Logan’s new persona first appeared in Wolverine #1 (1988). As Patch, he explored a more noir-style setting, using his wits and raw strength to navigate the dangers of Madripoor, all while concealing his identity. This could've been a whole solo Wolverine film on itself but it's cool we at least got a small cameo. *Old Man Logan* - First appearing in Wolverine #66 (2008), Old Man Logan exists in an alternate dystopian timeline (Earth-807128) ruled by villains. Haunted by a tragic past in which he was tricked into killing the X-Men, this older, broken version of Wolverine lives in a world where the heroes have fallen, and villains have taken control. Old Man Logan’s arc is a deeply emotional and violent tale, highlighting his vulnerability in his later years. This is the same comic that inspired Logan (2017). *80s Wolverine* - John Byrne’s iconic yellow-and-brown costume, which first appeared in The Uncanny X-Men #139 (1980), became a staple of Wolverine’s (Earth-616) look throughout the decade. It marked a shift from his earlier yellow-and-blue suit, which debuted during his initial appearance in The Incredible Hulk #181 (1974) and later in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975) when he officially joined the X-Men. Logan would don the yellow-and-brown costume during memorable battles, including his fight against the Hulk in The Incredible Hulk #340 (1988), making it one of his most enduring and beloved outfits. *Yellow & Blue* - The yellow and blue suit worn by Wolverine in this film is a modernized take on his iconic costume first introduced in Giant-Size X-Men #1 (1975). This design was later reimagined by Jim Lee in the late '80s and early '90s, X-Men: The Animated Series and X-Men '97 used Jim Lee's designs as well. The suit was then updated for the 21st century in the comics with Astonishing X-Men (2004), blending classic elements with modern design. For many fans, the yellow and blue suit remains Wolverine's definitive look, thanks to the lasting impact of the animated series and how it's used across a bunch of media such as arcade games throughout the 1990s.
@LittleGalaxyBoy
@LittleGalaxyBoy Ай бұрын
It’s important to note that most of these suits (aside from Old Man Logan and Weapon X) are simply outfits worn by Wolverine throughout his mainline comic history, rather than representing different "versions" of the character. Since the Wolverine of the films never donned any of his iconic comic outfits, the film uses variants from different stages of his comic life as a way to highlight various eras of Wolverine. Paying tribute to key moments in his comic history by having different variants wear these outfits who all just happen to look like Hugh Jackman.

So probably a dozen other nerds have already said this, but: Tatum has been wanting to play Gambit for basically his entire career, and it never came through. Wesley Snipes was the original Blade, his trilogy around the turn of the century was one of the sparks that led to the superhero inferno we've been privileged to live through since. Jennifer Garner played Elektra in the very first Daredevil film, as well as her own spinoff film that was... not very good, unfortunately. Chris Evans was Johnny Storm from Fantastic Four. Basically all of these cameos were Fox-owned Marvel superheroes that are now owned by the Mouse House, and this film was a way to salute them while also sending them off, because with very few exceptions, probably all of them will be recast (the process already having started with the Netflix Daredevil and Charlie Cox being officially the MCU Daredevil.) It would be pretty sweet if they could let Tatum play Gambit going forward though. Anyway I really enjoyed this reaction. It was hilarious how you lost your mind when Dafne Keen showed up.

Also worth noting that there was a Gambit Movie that was greenlit with Channing, starring, he even went on stage at Comic Con to announce it, then Disney bought Fox and the movie was put on hold, and never got back off the ground. So when Gambit says, "It feels like some of us never got a shot" that's why. Secondly Ryan Reynolds played Hannibal King in the 3rd Blade movie, and has said many times that him and Wesley Snipes did not get along on set, so when Blade says, "I don't like you" and Deadpool responds, "You never did" that's why. Finally, Jennifer Garner was married to Ben Affleck, who played her DareDevil, and they have since divorced, so when she doesnt care that DareDevil died, that's why

Wesley Snipes' Blade (1998) was the first Marvel Movie, predating X-Men and Spider-Man. It was very adult themed and established that comic book movies could be good and work for a mature audience. They did two more, and Snipes was allegedly difficult to deal with in all of them. Then he went to prison for tax evasion for (2+ years). Reynolds also starred in Blade 3 with Snipes, and supposedly there was friction between the two on set. Despite all this, fans still live Snipes' Blade. So, he was the most mind blowing cameo in this movie for many fans!

Also, to explain the "retired" line, up until last year, the IRS would confiscate all of Snipes' earnings, which is why he stopped acting (since he'd basically earn nothing from them).

The whole "anchor being" thing is _such_ a great meta-commentary on media series that die off, when a specific character dies or leaves (or just the original actor leaves and is replaced). Logan's death _was_ the death of the Fox Mutants-verse. It was so epic and tragic and poignant that they couldn't take it back - not without fans hunting them down and breaking all their bones. But they also couldn't go _forwards_ without him, because… well, nobody would come to watch, if _he_ wasn't there. It's terribly unfair to all the other actors and creatives, but it's _still true._

Channing was set to play Gambit in it, too. People have said this is less a "Hello, MCU" and more a "Goodbye, Fox" movie. This Gambit is based on the Comic and Animated Gambit. His ability is to charge items with high levels of kinetic energy so they explode shortly after he breaks contact. He prefers to throw cards because of his history as a gambler. I'm also not sure if you saw it in the credits, but Ladypool was voiced by Blake Lively, Ryan's wife. Kidpool was played by their daughter, and Babypool their son. Oh, and Nicepool was played by Gordon Reynolds, Ryan's evil twin brother.

The montage during the end credits was so beautiful it was damn near emotional abuse for me. As someone who was 10 years old when the first X-Men movie came out, who literally grew up watching and falling in love with these characters, who also listened to Green Day constantly in the 00’s, my heart was torn apart and put back together during that montage. Hell more than 2/3 of the IMAX theater I was in were cheering and crying during that montage.😭😭😭👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

There is a trilogy where Ryan Reynolds is actually in the 3rd film as part of Blade's team hunting vampires. So there is some lore there. You mentioned Daredevil series, you should definitely watch on your own. Its a masterpiece. Get ready for Born Again. Easily the most anticipated Marvel project coming up in March. Dafne Keen (Laura, from Logan) is a awesome actress and right after Logan she was cast on HBO and BBC's His Dark Materials TV show. This show is a highly faithfull adaptation of a trilogy of books started with The Golden Compass, whoose movie had Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. Whem James McAvoy (Charles Xavier, from Xmen First Class), discovered they're making the show, he ran to his agent to get a part. He would be one of the producers, of the show and cast on the same character as Daniel Craig. Dafne Keen is the main character. 3 seasons, total 23 episodes. Highly recomend it. Also, please give a chance to Your Name, by Makoto Shinkai (2016), beautiful movie.

18:06 Elektra, played by Jennifer Garner, was from the Ben Affleck Daredevil movie in 2003. It was shortly after working together in the movie that they started dating. The part where they mention that the Daredevil of their group died and Deadpool gives her his condolences, but she just shrugs and says "It's fine.", is a joke about her not being broken up about his death because Jennifer and Ben divorced in 2018. 18:21 Channing Tatum has wanted to play Gambit since he was first chosen to play him in X-Men: Last Stand, but then they wrote the character out, and by the time they decided to use him in Origins: Wolverine, Channing was already contracted to do the G.I. Joe movie. He approached the studio about coming back as Gambit a few years later and they were actually hoping to reintroduce him in the X-Men: Apocalypse movie (2016) with the hopes of getting Gambit his own movie, maybe even a franchise. He's been pushing to be Gambit for almost 20 years, so Deadpool & Wolverine is a dream come true for him.

His outfit is pulled out of both the 90s comics and the Animated Series, though he's played up a little as a "joke" his accent is actually really good. I still prefer A.J. LoCascio from X-Men '97 but Channing Tatum did a really solid job with Gambit. Now I want to see a comic Rogue put to screen with all her southern Dolly Parton charm, massive 90s hair, and the ability to FLY just like the comics.

It's like an appreciation of all the movies (Fox ones obviously) without being just a cheap Marvel introduction. I'm glad Disney let a lot of this movie work. 20:30 no it’s a different Laura. That Logan is Deadpool’s universe, so that Laura is somewhere out there in Deadpool’s world. The thing to remember is that there are an infinite amount of Logan’s, Laura’s and Deadpool’s, as well as everyone else. There are an infinite amount of Logan’s that died exactly the same way, an infinite amount who died in different ways at different times and an infinite amount of worlds where he didn’t ever exist in. There would be an infinite amount of worlds that played out the same as in Logan and then 1-5 years later someone on the other side of the planet did something they shouldn’t have and then the TVA pruned the whole timeline. So over time there would be tons and tons of Laura’s with the exact same Logan experience ending up in the void.

She wrote a whole Instagram post about it. The dancer Nick Pauley also posted on IG about his audition and experience doing the Bye Bye Bye dance during the opening credits. And Jennifer Garner wrote some nice posts about not only getting back into shape to play Elektra but also important her stunt double was to playing that character and how great it was to work with her again after the Elektra movie. I mean, there were a TON of social media posts made by everyone involved in making this movie (many of which are worth checking out), but those were the ones that stood out to me.

Most of the Wolverines in the little montage are comics references, yes. The ones I recognize are comic accurate Smallverine (though he needs to be wider and uglier and stinkier to be entirely comic accurate), the Wolverine with the huge hair is from Age of Apocalypse (though he's supposed to be missing a hand), Patch was a name Logan used for a while when he was in Madripoor and the Wolverine was believed to be dead, crucified Wolverine is straight from the cover of Uncanny X-Men #251 and John Byrne colors Wolverine was a costume he had for a while and he did indeed fight the Hulk wearing those colors in Incredible Hulk #340 (though the Hulk was grey at the time in the comics). Cassandra Nova is a pretty iconic villain even though she's fairly new by comics standards, first appearing in 2001 (new compared to like, Magneto who was around in the 60s). She's not really Charles' twin but they did indeed share a womb. She's what the Shi'ar call a Mummudrai, she's an evil spirit given physical form created in response to an extremely powerful psychic presence, that being Charles. Chuck actually had his mind reading powers from conception and felt Cassandra's evil nature in the womb and tried killed her before they were born, choking her with her own umbilical cord. Cassandra was declared dead but survived as like a blob of cells and eventually regenerated because she can do that.

Loved your review. Deadpool here is definitely the Deadpool from the first two movies, Earth 10005 is the Fox universe (for most of the Fox movies at least, I think Fantastic Four, Fox Daredevil and Fox Elektra are considered seperate timeline[s] even though it's the same studio). Earth 616 (the sacred timeline) is the MCU, Wade used Cable's time machine to get there for his interview with Happy. According to Doctor Internet, Earth 10005 is the Fox X-Men movies until "Days of Future Past" and "Earth 10005 revised" is the Fox X-Men movies after the changes to the timeline made in "Days of Future Past," which include the first two Deadpool films.

As I've been able to piece together based on what's mentioned in Loki, and here... An "Anchor Being" is essentially just a nexus being. Someone who does something weird...zigs when they were supposed to zag, and spins off an alternate timeline branch. Before, it didn't matter because the TVA was pruning those all the time anyway. But now, Loki is jamming his power through all of the timelines and preventing them from withering. However, since these beings are now the focal point for the existence of any given branch...if that individual ceases to exist...their associated branch no longer has a conduit for Loki's power to reach them, and they die off. In fact, the only reason Loki needs to juice them all anyway, is because the Loom did so much damage to time and space, for so long...that no timeline can exist naturally anymore. They require some external force to keep them going. Maybe that'll heal one day, but not for a very...very long time. I'm betting that, normally, Loki's power is represented by the Time Stone in any given reality, but those branches don't work the same way because it's the point of divergence that matters. If you cut the root, watering the plant only prolongs the inevitable. And it's the Anchor Being that is the root of the timeline branch...NOT the Time Stone. But the ending of this movie implies that Anchor Beings are NOT actually required to maintain a branch. That there are alternative methods of doing so. I'd guess it has something to do with the destruction of the time-ripper causing an event that reconnects the branch to its source timeline (like blowing a hole in reality), allowing Loki's power through again. And now there's no Anchor Being to depend on in the future.

I think in the same way deadpool was offered a spot in the sacred timeline, paradox probably offered laura one too. but since she doesn’t break the 4th wall like deadpool, she has no idea what the sacred timeline is and saw the tva as threats which would cause her to be just completely violent like we see her in logan. She probably got pruned because paradox ended up deciding they couldnt control her enough and putting that laura in the sacred timeline would cause more harm than good. And she probably learned to calm down after meeting blade, elektra, gambit, and johnny in the void.

The plot is very simple but it is meta on SOOOOOOOOOOOOO many levels that it's fucking beautiful. Like you were wondering how Laura got pruned...she was pruned by the Disney merger. But every now & then they'd bring one of them back or something (Quicksilver in WandaVision, Patrick Stewart as Charles in Dr Strange 2, etc). That is basically the plot. Deadpool was chosen to continue on within the MCU (the sacred timeline) but that meant his universe (20th Century Fox's Marvel) was going to die along with Logan. And I can see how Ryan got Kevin Fiege to sign off on a Rated R Marvel movie. X-Men wasn't only Hugh's first breakthrough gig. It was Kevin's too. So it's really full circle for damn near everyone in this movie. Ryan got to finally do a proper Deadpool & Wolverine with his buddy Hugh. Ryan got to mend some bridges with Wesley Snipes and Blade after their kinda infamous falling out on Blade 2. Jennifer Garner got a nice chance to play Electra again. And I remember Channing Tatum was brought on the comic con stage and introduced as Gambit. But it never happened. I dunno why cause I thought it was a brilliant casting. But that's why HE was in the void too AND rather fitting that he even questions if he was born there...cause he was only casted as him but they never shot a single frame. So in HIS case he was pruned by Fox long before Disney came along and originally came out and declared none of the Fox stuff as canon...basically sending everyone to the void. But I do wonder what this means. Please, please PLEAAAASE somehow put Dafne (Laura/X23) with the Thunderbolts* please!!! I just have a feeling her and Florence would have some nice chemistry. And what about Blade? I know they were planning on it. But that was before Bob Oger showed up and shut down like 80% of all the Disney projects. So is the new Blade still a go? Or was Wesley kinda sending a message that yeah, for the very foreseable future he's STILL the only Day Walker. And what about a Channing Tatum Gambit movie? God, I would love to see him and Anna Paquin as Rouge play with those characters. Cause I do think he made a name for himself. There is a way to make Gambit cool and he just laid down the blueprint of how it's done.

Ok, so the lore behind "this" wolverine, basically he turned his back on the x-men at once point, went to drown his sorrows and such, the x-mansion came under attack by anti-mutant group, wolverine returned to find all the x-men dead and went on a rampage killing all the people that killed the x-men, except that is not actually what happened, the mansion was under attack but he was tricked (insert illusion-mind-fuckery-here) into thinking the x-men were those people, so HE in fact killed the x-men, and he didn't know that until later but couldn't face it (I forget the rest of this storyline, but that's the gist of it).
