The meta joke with Channing Tatum playing Gambit is that there was a Gambit movie in development at 20th Century Fox for the longest time, with Channing set to star as the character. They even brought him out on stage at the 2014 San Diego Comic-Con to announce his casting, but the movie got stuck in development hell for years and was eventually cancelled when Disney bought 20th Century Fox. Channing played a big part in the movie's development, as playing Gambit was a dream of his, but because of the movie's eventual cancellation he never got the chance, until now.

@@jasonstrickland9245 There's no MCU without Fox and the X-Men. People keep trying to say Blade made the MCU possible, but X-Men would have happened even if Blade completely bombed at the Box Office. X-Men was already in production alongside it, (Singer was hired to direct in 1996, and it was originally supposed to release in 1998 until script problems pushed it back) and almost no one - even COMIC BOOK FANS - knew Blade was a comic book, because at the time he was an extremely obscure character who averaged maybe 4 appearances per year since his introduction, and it wasn't even marketed as such (Marvel isn't mentioned anywhere in the original trailers or TV spots). X-Men, however, was by FAR Marvel's biggest seller throughout the 90s, while they were also well known through the 1992 animated series (a LOT of 80s and 90s kids who never read comics knew about the X-Men from the cartoon). It was also an R-rated action horror movie vs. a PG-13 action blockbuster.

"Why does it feel like its over?" Because a big part of this film is a love letter to the Fox X-Men universe. It is done, and it managed to give a nod to the films that paved the way for comic book movies to even have an expanded universe. Blade was a comic book R rated movie long before they were even a thing, and so on. The characters they honoured were the ones that walked so Marvel could run.

@@shalakabooyaka1480 Yes, and if you're talking about the very first comic book movies you can go all the way back to the silent film era with movies about Batman and Superman. But Blade was crucial to 21st century comic book movies because it literally kept Marvel from going bankrupt, and the first X-Men movie proved comic book movies could be massive blockbusters. 20th Century Fox dropped the ball plenty of times, but without their movies, the ones that Deadpool Vs. Wolverine pays tribute to, there would be no MCU.

The use of N-Sync is twofold... 1} The music video for Celine Dion's Ashes, the theme for Deadpool 2, Deadpool asks her to take it down a notch, grumbling that he "should have asked N-Sync". And even funnier, 2} In X-Men 2, when escaping the Mansion, Wolverine, Pyro, Rogue and Iceman are in Cyclops' car, and Pyro turns on the radio, which plays Bye Bye Bye. Wolverine switches it off in disgust. So, Deadpool is dancing on Wolverine's grave to a song he knows that he despised!

I love this movie. I'm a 42 year old man. I grew up watching the Fox universe form. I was in the theatre for Electra, Blade, Punisher, X-Men, all of em. This movie honors that journey. It gives us a payoff over 25 years in the making. Some people may have a gripe about Deadpool breaking the 4th wall being a cheap writing tool, but Ryan Reynolds uses his power for good in this case. Not only does he honor the comics by actually including as much legendary comic imagery for Wolverine as he does (the suit, the variants) and all the Deadpool variants, but by breaking the 4th wall he honors the behind the scenes journey us fans have taken with them. He points out beef between him and Snipes. Beef between Affleck and Garner. The hope of Tatum to play Gambit. The way studios have mistreated Cavill. The way Fox dropped the ball on their franchises. The way Marvel has been in a slump. The way fans feel about the upcoming Blade movie. But most of all, the way that fans have been dying to see a classic comic book wolverine since they started making these movies. There are literally too many nods to list. Sure, there is a hand in your face jangling keys, but below it, the other hand is reaching for a handshake to say thank you to us. It reaches a level of intricate decades long fan service that may never be duplicated. And it does it in a way that honors the viewpoint of fans rather than ridiculing them. This movie shows us that despite all the Hollywood bullshit out there, there's a few people on the inside that have taken this lifelong journey with us. It shows us there are still a few people making these movies that CARE...about US. It gives me hope that maybe the best isn't behind us. Thank you Ryan, Hugh, Cavill, Garner, Snipes, Tatum, Dafne and everyone else who still believes in the power of comic books and good stories. Let's fuckin go!

Dafne Keen is said to be having sizable roles in Doomsday and Secret Wars. And considering her young age and that she's been well-received in everything she appears in, Marvel would be kind of stupid not to leverage that. There's reports that because the Mashalla Ali Blade movie keeps getting stuck, Disney may just bring back Snipes. The Blade cameo is a HUGE deal because it was in Blade: Trinity/ Blade 3 where a studio exec approached Ryan Reynolds about being the character. He handed him a stack of comics where Deadpool in one even mentioned he looks like Ryan Reynolds with a Shar Pei. Ryan and Wesley notoriously didn't get along. Well Wesley didn't get along with several people. So the line you never liked me was an inside joke. 😆Great Reaction ❤❤

From the interviews of other actors in Blade Trinity over Snipes attitude during that film leads me to think he was just at peak deva. So Reynolds met him at his worst. Snipes does seem to have really mellowed out after that whole tax evasion situation. Snipes and Reynolds have claimed they have always been friends during press interviews for this film, but I have a hard time believing that. I can believe they became friends at some point later on, but no chance that was the case during trinity. I am glad Snipes mellowed out. I hope he gets a second resurgence of great films and this time not let it get to his head haha.

Channing Tatum's inclusion is a reference to a Gambit movie that he was attached to for several years. Tatum was trying to play Gambit for nearly 20 years and the film was in development hell for more than half of that time. He was announced as part of Fox's future X-Men film lineup in 2015 but the movie just never materialized and Disney inevitably bought Fox. So this was really just a dream come true for Channing Tatum and all the jokes at his expense are references to the movie that never came to be. Awesome reaction as always guys!

When Deadpool and Wolverine are about to fight for the first time when they are in the void, and you see Deadpool do that slow-mo exceedingly cool way of loading the clips into his guns, and Cassie said, "That was very John Wick-ian." That is really a move from the movie Equilibrium, with Christian Bale. Equilibrium was a tragically not advertised movie, so it flew under the radar of almost everyone! It is a wonderful movie about a future distopia where feelings are outlawed and suppressed by regular medication, and there is a police force that tracks down dissidents who don't take the medication and therefore experience emotions of love, grief, joy, sadness, etc. Those are deemed chaotic, so they are not part of the orderly society and must be eliminated. Christian Bale is one of those cops, and there is a form of martial arts in the movie that is called "Gun kata", that is kind of like using guns as an extension of karate to dodge, block, evade, attack, etc. It's fantastically smooth and cool looking, and he does that super cool kind of reloading in the movie.

Few character notes: Before playing Captain America, Chris Evans played Johnny Storm (Human Tourch) in the 2005 Fantasic Four movie. That is why everyone went nuts when he said "flame on!" Blade was THE superhero movie to basically lifted all superhero movies from the ground and Wesley Snipes was perfect. Elekra was another earlier superhero movie. She is an expert acrobatics and combat fighter. Jennifer Gardner also played her PERFECTLY. Gambit was supposed to have his own movie but the project was scrapped. There was even a post credit cutscene showing Channing Tatum as Gambit. The joke "I don't know, I feel like I was born here" was taking a shot that the movie never saw the light of day. The Deadpools at the end are all played by people that we never expected. Ladypool is played by Blake, Kidpool is played by their daughter, Cowboypool is played by Mathew Mcconaughey, and Headpool is played by Nathan Fillion. The ending credit scenes for all the FOX movies honestly brought tears to my eyes. The childhood memories and the end to the FOX superheros really got to me. Headpool was voiced by Nathan Fillion (Captain Mal Reynolds), and I think this is the first feature film that both he and Morena have been in since Serenity. I'm not 100% that is accurate, but I can't think of another one. Nathan and Ryan Reynolds have been friends since they both worked together on the TV show "Two Guys and a Girl (and a Pizza Place)" back in the late 1990s. They also share a bit of connection that Nathan was recently cast to play Green Lantern in the new DC cinematic universe that James Gunn, who wrote and directed all the Guardians of Galaxy movies. Nathan also did the voice acting for some animated DC Comics animated movies. When he was first cast as Green Lantern in one of those movies, he tweeted at Ryan Reynolds a picture of Green Lanter with the caption something along the lines of "You can't have him back." This also makes the fourth MCU movie that Nathan has worked on. Playing a different character every time. He worked on all the Guardians of the Galaxy movies. In Vol. 1 he voiced the big blue alien that got Groot's fingers shoved up his nose. His part in Vol. 2 got cut for time, but his scene was filmed. And he played a head guard in Vol. 3. Fillion has been cast in almost every single James Gunn film since they became friends while working the horror film Slither together. Slither would be a great movie to react to for "Scary...but not too Scary season."

Basically, _Deadpool & Wolverine_ was a massive love letter and final send-off / thank you to the earlier superhero movies (Blade and the Fox superhero movies); which were generally critically panned and often looked down on by comic book fans but in reality paved the way for the MCU. The movie was also basically a showcase of the Ryan Reynolds expanded universe. Basically, most of the cameos were people affiliated with and/or are friends with Ryan Reynolds in RL. For instance, Ladypool was voiced by his Blake Lively (his wife), Kidpool was his daughter, Welshpool was a football/soccer player from Wrexham FC (a football club that Ryan owns), etc. Plus, I think he made a point to get a core cast from the previous movies and gave them all speaking lines (which carries a big significance in terms of their earnings versus a non-speaking role). Which further shows how Ryan is the type to remember and appreciate the people who've helped him along the way.

34:19 Jennifer Garner was Elektra in the Ben Affleck DareDevil movie & in her own Elektra movie that is known for being really bad, Wesley Snipes played Blade 98 making it the first successful Marvel movie & 2nd R rated Marvel movie with 89 The Punisher staring Dolph Lundgren (Rocky 4). Wesley Snipes had 3 blade movies with Ryan Reynolds being in Blade Trinity & it is widely known that Snipes didn't like Reynolds. And Channing Tatum was supposed to be Gambit in his own movie he even announced it at the 2014 San Diego Comic Con but was canceled with a lot of other projects in 2019 when Disney bought Fox & planing to bring the X-men into the MCU.

Great reaction - been following all of your X-Men journey. - Blade 3 starred Ryan Reynolds who clashed with Wesley Snipes so there’s some inside jokes when they meet in the void. - Miles Teller & Michael B. Jordan played 2 of the Fantastic 4 in the reboot. Different to Chris Evans version a decade earlier. - Channing Tatum had a Gambit movie being made but it got lost ‘in the void’ hence the inside jokes that maybe he was born there. A lot of little nods to other films & moments but you got a lot of them!

You'll never know just how shocking and insane Blade's cameo was, even if you watch the movies. Blade literally saved Marvel completely, there are no X-Men films or MCU films or Spider-Man Trilogy or the Fantastic Four or Daredevil movies, without Wesley Snipes. Not only that Blade is _the_ movie that made superhero a respectable genre. They were previously thought of as a joke because of how bad the action was and how overly campy they were, while action movies were Hollywood's and culture's bread and butter. So they put a genuine action star and incredible martial artist Wesley Snipes as the lead, and all of a sudden superhero media was cool to do and highly praised. TDK trilogy or Spider-Man trilogy or original X-Men trilogy owe their success partially to the precedent he set. Then there's Wesley's fall from grace, his tax issues, his alleged decades long rivalry with Ryan Reynolds. By the time this movie came along the idea that Blade could've been in it wasn't even a remote possibility in people's heads. Yet as soon as his aura emanating self appeared on screen, instant recognition from everyone in the theatre, instant claps and gasps of disbelief for something so badass.

As an fan of Marvel Studios especially with THE MULTIVERSE SAGA, just like how much I loved 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' cause seeing Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield reprise as Spider-Man's, I was happy upon seeing 'DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE' teaming but also honor the legacy of 20th Century FOX's MARVEL universe, along with honoring the forgotten BLADE Franchise since it was released by New Line Cinema, do you considered Deadpool & Wolverine as the most funniest MCU film of all time just like Thor Ragnarok. 😁

The leg they used as a jetpack to escape is the leg of a Sentinel, from X-Men, so it makes sense Wolverine would know how they work. They fight and train against them. As for Elektra, she was in Daredevil with Ben Affleck before the MCU and then had her own spin off film. Wesley Snipes reprises his role as Blade, a character that's been in MCU limbo for over half a decade. Blade is considered the true start to Marvels resurgence on screen, followed by X-Men then Spider-Man. Ryan Reynolds was in the third Blade film and it's a well known story that Snipes hated Reynolds. When Ryan called him to be in the film, he was surprised and they sorted out their differences. Channing Tatum has been pining over the Gambit role for EVER and with Fox coming to an end, everyone had accepted he would never play the role, until this film came out. Kevin Feige, head of MCU, started on X-Men working with Brian Singer where it became known that Singer had a no-comics policy and the only reason the films were even close was because Feige was sneaking the actors comics for them to study. Him being in charge, his start at Fox, his involvement with X-Men and wehat he's done with Marvel since the early 2000's makes this a very meaningful movie, not just the action and jokes. Theres a lot here.

A Blade reaction will be fun, it's a must see. That movie was super good, super successful, and without it Marvel Studios would've probably been shuttered for good. Blade proved that comic book movies could be very successful if done right. Spiderman, Fantastic 4, X-Men, and eventually the MCU, none of them would exist without Blade. Wesley Snipes rocked that role, it was one of my favorite movies growing up.
