Fun fact: Ember and Wade being able to touch is also based in real life science, just like everything else in the movie. It's called the Leidenfrost effect, which is when water comes into contact with a hot surface like Ember, it creates a protective layer of steam which acts as an insulator for Wade, keeping him from vaporizing and by extension, Ember from getting extinguished.

21:48 This might seem like an obvious thing to notice, but Ember is LITERALLY the light in Wade's eyes. It’s been a while since a Pixar movie made me full on bawl my eyes out. As a family who immigrated to Canada in 2001 from the Philippines, my family and I collectively bawled. My parents saw themselves in Ember and Wade. The fact that they’re Sagittarius and Cancer is pure coincidence. And Ember being the in family business and feeling the pressure that taking over brings, it was too real for me.

I don’t get why this movie gets so much hate. This is one of my top favourite Disney movies. It’s creative funny, and very heartwarming to watch. Especially Ember and Wade as a couple. They are destined to be together forever. Them dancing together and that kiss. My heart literally melted. It’s a perfect movie in my opinion. There needs to be a sequel to this movie for sure, expanding on their relationship. Fun fact: They were actually deleted scenes, where Wade proposes to Ember, and Ember and Wade and Bernie are playing with Ember and Wade’s steam baby. I really wish that was put in the movie. Hope they do it in a sequel. Loved your reaction, Angelina.

I do think they will show more of these characters and world eventually. There’s way too much potential not to further explore. Especially considering it eventually found success at the box office despite a slow start and later on streaming which it became a top streaming hit on Disney+. I think even if we don’t get a full length sequel we will definitely at least get shorts and / or a miniseries like they’ve done to other properties

korean references in this movie (so proud to be korean😆) 1. feeding wade the hot firestones is feeding spicy kimchi to foreigners 2. “father” in fire language is “ashfa” which is made similar to “appa”= “father” in korean 3. the bowing scene is similar to the korean traditional bow called “jeol”

There's a dedication to the directors parents at the end of the film. Very sweet. Also there's a whole backstory episode on Disney+ where the director talks about his childhood and everything that went into making this film. It's a good watch, especially if you can relate. My family has had roots in my country for at least 350 years on my mothers side, and probably a lot longer on my fathers side. Still it gives a nice insight for those of us that don't have this experience.

I feel like this movie is underrated and sometimes, not very well-received. I feel like everyone I talk to besides my family doesn't like the movie a whole lot or believe that the world-building of this movie couldn't work with the elementals as well with the chemistry between Wade and Ember. A lot of people I talk to don't like how much Wade cries, they say it's too much, but I like that it's part of his character, he's just a great listener, compassionate person and a great boyfriend! I like how men can be emotional because sometimes they believe they can't be, but it also makes sense with his element being water. I wish people would be more open-minded and would give this movie another chance or just a chance. This has got to be my favorite animated movie of last year along with Across the Spider-verse and The Boy and the Heron. The visuals are spectacular, I love how colorful and creative it is, especially the character animations. I love how it's an original concept in a world full of prequels, reboots, and sequels. This is my new favorite recent Pixar animated movie. I liked this more than Luca, Soul, and Turning Red, though I really liked Onward. I love the love story between Wade and Ember, the only thing I wish this movie did was explore more of the elements like earth and wind, but I get that that's not part of the main story. Also, the ending could have used a bit more work, especially with the whole fake-out death that is used in a lot of animated kids movies. But I loved the music especially the new song Steal the Show but Lauv.

This cute little film is near and dear to my heart. It reminds me so much of my relationship with my best friend growing up who was a 2nd generation Chinese girl, and her personality is so much like Ember's. And this may be extra but I also headcanon Wade and his family as being black like me because of his voice actor lol, and I relate to the overall openness of his family a lot too. His and Ember's relationship helped me recontextualize some of the moments my BFF and I had together, where we had to work to understand each other's differing backgrounds and emotional processing. So this movie really brings a smile to my face. :')

I didnt even finish the movie the first time around because of it. My bf at the time was not very empathetic, he had poor communication, and it always felt like he was holding me at arms distance. Well i eventually broke up with him, and awhile later i started talking to a new guy. A guy that is so similar to wade, that when i rewatched the movie, i cried on multiple occasions. I had actually found someone who was caring, compassionate, supportive and so so sweet. If you find yourself in a similar situation, i encourage you to take the scary leap and leave... You may feel like youll never find someone else, but you will. And if youre persistent, youll find someone incredible
