I grew up in a bar in the 90's. I was running the DJ booth in 97 at 11 years old. My mom had burned mixed CD's and I had to make sure the player was shuffled and didn't repeat. 90s music holds a special place in my heart. So do dive bars

I was like maybe ten years old when I saw the theme to Dawson’s Creek. I never understood the show and thought it was boring at that age, but I’m watching it now and it’s like diving back into part of my childhood that I never knew. It’s interesting watching old things with new lenses.

I was in line to see this filming but it started later than was originally said and I had to leave to play a gig, I’m sad I missed it. I did get to see her at a small theater not long before this though, with Mark Brown on bass instead of Doug Wimbish. One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, she left everything on that stage.

For flap's sake, people are commenting that this song was the intro track of Dawson's Creek, a teen drama show? This song is a haunting remembrance of a World War II combat veteran who was forever changed by the horrors he saw. She had two babies, one was six months, one was three In the war of '44 Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging When she thought it was God calling her Oh, would her son grow to know his father? He showed up all wet on the rainy front step Wearing shrapnel in his skin (side note, do Dawson's Creek fans even know what shrapnel is?) And the war he saw lives inside him still It's so hard to be gentle and warm Hurray Dawson's Creek fans, you really know what this song is about. (Roll eyes with visceral disdain)

So open up your morning light And say a little prayer for I You know that if we are to stay alive Then see the peace in every eye She had two babies, one was six months, one was three In the war of '44 Every telephone ring, every heartbeat stinging When she thought it was God calling her Oh, would her son grow to know his father? I don't want to wait for our lives to be over I want to know right now what will it be I don't want to wait for our lives to be over Will it be yes or will it be sorry? He showed up all wet on the rainy front step Wearing shrapnel in his skin And the war he saw lives inside him still It's so hard to be gentle and warm The years pass by, and now, he has granddaughters I don't want to wait for our lives to be over I want to know right now what will it be I don't want to wait for our lives to be over Will it be yes or will it be... Oh, so you look at me from across the room You're wearing your anguish again Believe me, I know the feeling It sucks you into the jaws of anger Oh, so breathe a little more deeply All we have is this very moment And I don't want to do what his father, and his father, and his father did I want to be here now So open up your morning light And say a little prayer for I You know that if we are to stay alive Then see the peace in every eye I don't want to wait for our lives to be over I want to know right now what will it be I don't want to wait for our lives to be over Will it be yes or will it be... At first I was going to write a comment saying that this is not Hard Rock Live because this is not the one I've seen before. In 1997 she appeared on the show opening for Jewel. Her hair was much shorter and she was wearing a purple half top. I think I saw somewhere that this is video is actually from HRL 2001 where she was sharing the bill with Meredith Brooks.
