Angelique now joins a group of women into retirement, who have given us some great matches. It is now time for a new era to carry on women tennis into the upcoming years. Bravo Ms. Kerber on a fantastic career.

Favorite player. back half of her career it was insane. Pathetic WTA hasn’t posted a tribute.

Mid Tier tennis player? They seriously said that in the first 5 seconds? Wow, I guess Grand Slams and Olympic medals don't mean so much anymore. Kerber is an inspiration to everyone.

Shame she cut her comeback short

Actually it isn't. She wasn't up to doing that and, as she said, feels free. No shame in that.

Sad. Not many of her generation left playing now. Vika, Wozniacki, Kvitova if she returns from pregnancy, Halep. Can’t think of many more

Yes, her era (Serena and a few others, all have retired). Woz came back, but I see her leaving in a few years, same with Vika.
