As someone who has actually been through war at a young age and who has seen what it does to people, they hit the mark with this song. Tom's emotion makes me almost cry because it is exactly what it feels like when you've actually experienced what he's singing about in real life. "Why won't you tell me that it's almost over? Why must this tear my head inside out?" I feel this song in every cell in my body

It was also quite literally about the War in Iraq, because Tom's brother was a soldier in that war at the time this album released. It was a pointless war that should have ended before it even began, and Tom has been vocally anti-war for decades.
