When Mr. Deen discovers one of his students has been living out of his car and thrown into jail, he decides to bail him out. Determined to curb Nate’s self-destructive behavior, Mr. Deen quickly discovers a host of dark secrets that are slowly tearing Nate apart. What started as a good deed becomes a desperate fight to save Nate from his own demons. As Nate spirals deeper into despair, Mr. Deen must decide how far he’s willing to go to save a kid on the brink of losing everything-even himself.

I went to Garden Spot High School (New Holland, PA) in the late 1970s / early 1980s. I had the teacher (Stan Deen) that is portrayed in this movie. He was one of the best teacher's I ever had.

This reminds me of my childhood. I was a natural-born genius, but I was squandering my talents by going out drinking and fighting every night with my buddies. Finally, in my 20's, the courts said that I either shape up or spend some time in jail. An unknown psychiatrist took me under his wing and made me confront my troubled childhood of violent foster-fathers. He ended up motivating me to accept who I was and even go after a girl that I was afraid to love. What a guy; changed my life.

Looks like a great film! I'm glad I came across this clip. Seems like there are several "battles" that will be highlighted. Teacher to student, and vice versa. Teacher with the school and the education system. Student with his present self, and his past. Student with the legal system back then. And maybe some personal battles within the teacher? Not my normal type of movie. But the acting in this 2 minute clip... I'm all in! Plus I was in high school about this time, in Philly. I know where this town is. I bet there will be a number of things that will "click" my memory in this film. Can't wait to see it!
