I've never clicked so fast. His show on HBO is like therapy for him, the perspective of a gay black man in America is super vulnerable and he's hilarious while displaying his life too. He just speaks rhe truth in an aggressive way like a rapper honestly, he's living his truth. Its wild how you are your parents just in a different font.

Great interview. I have to wonder if Jerrod “liberating” his father by telling his truth, even though he wasn’t ready is equivalent to someone “outing” a man as gay. Jerrod is living in his truth and I am so happy for him. AND forcing others to “live their truth” seems harsh and selfish.
@teem7835 ай бұрын
Well articulated! He came out on his own terms. Extend the same grace to him too. But perhaps he worried he knows if he didn't force the issue it would stay hidden.

His father was hypocritical. Requiring your gay child to stay in the closet is just as harsh as forcing a dad to reveal a secret. For years, he wanted Jerrod to hide his truth & was likely walking around acting like he was perfect yet he had dark secrets of his own. He required Jerrod to hide who he really then pretending like his sh*t don't stink is hypocritical.
@danielcamarena6222 ай бұрын
Lets remember hurt ppl hurt ppl, he wasn’t going to give his dad grace he holds a resentment for how he was treated.

This is a COMPLETELY biased comment! I LOVE Jerrod Carmichael! I love his honesty! His ability to take all tht comes with his honesty! I love his form of comedy! I loved his show!!(Still secretly wishing for it to be picked up again) His reality show just showed me more of a reason to get to know him on another level, a deeper level, and still love him even MORE for being him! I, too, am a truth teller and don't have a lot of relationships that I used to have with many family members. I can truly relate to his struggle with his family and friends, but also commend him as well as them for showing up and trying. That is all we can ask!! Thank you so much, Angie, for sharing!! This was yet another beautiful interview to witness!! Your light truly brings comfort to all who sit across from you! I thank u for keeping it lit! ❤️🖤💚
