Hey Angie, If you're still using that foil quit and the cord is still la problem, you could always get a cord manager, like they use for Dremel tools. It's a clamp-on, height adjustable, pivoting armature that keeps the cord out of the way, yet allows free-enough movement. I have one I use when grinding the designs on aircraft aluminum panels prior to airbrushing them. Very handy. BTW, I understand the arthritis issues. Again your video was excellent! I just recently got my Cricut foil transfer kit. Getting the foil to behave is .... patience & breath required. LOL! Thank you for everything you do!

I have seen several videos on making earrings with the Cricut. Had never thought about doing something like that. I am a card maker and have been making cards for many years. Great video! You are really good at explaining how it works and the pro’s and con’s. I didn’t realize that Cricut had made their own tool for this, and it appears to work better than the plug-in kind. I will use the Cricut tool so that I don’t mess up my warranty. I am a visual learner so seeing what happened and how to correct was very helpful. I do have one question. I have an Explore Air 2, but I don't have a scoring wheel. The Explore Air 2 uses the scoring stylus. The wheel is only for the Maker. So, yes that will be fine.

Great video. I wish you did a project on the Air 2 and show on the computer screen what it says to do in the different steps for a new user. The score tool does NOT score on the Air 2. There have been so many complaints I am surprised they didn't put out a better score blade for the Air 2. I also had purchased the tool with the wire but had no idea my warranty would not be good anymore if something happended using this tool..Should have been stated so I am so glad you mentioned it. Enjoyed the video and have tried to use my tips but for some reason it’s not printing on my faux leather. Tried a few different kinds some had kind of a felt backing and some had nothing. I must be doing something wrong but can’t figure out what. Have tried different pressures and different tips. I think it’s the leather

After ordering and receiving the kit, and setting things up to make a card, I find out this doesn’t work with my iPad. Desktop only, and I don’t have one. Why didn’t Cricut disclose this somewhere? I bough it off HSN, and no mention of it. Now I have to send it back 🤨. Same thing happened with the knife blade. So disappointing!

Dayna Holmes I’ve been checking out other ways to use the foil, or any brand of pressure transfer foil. I tried it with the debossing tip and it turned out not bad. I also tried it with a scoring stylist and it actually was pretty good! I saw someone using an embossing folder (3D) and running it through a Big Shot, so I’m trying that tonite. I had ordered extra foil from Joann’s, but the kit is going back.

I have not seen the wood grain faux leather but would love it. I don't see it linked, so is it an older material or an upcoming one? Your link only has the faux suede and pebbled faux leather. Angie, this video was fantastic!!! I ordered the Cricut Foil Transfer Tool today (and actually returned the Foil Quill set I bought and had not used yet). I'd much rather use this one and after your thorough review....I'm so excited to get mine. I'm curious....since you already have it, would you consider TRYING to see if Thermo Web's DecoFoil would work with it. Even though it's meant to be used with heat, you can also use it with adhesive so maybe it would work? Pretty please???? LOLOL

I totally loved this video Angie!! I was mesmerised by all that can be achieved with the tool! I had two questions if you don't mind .. 1) why did you have to move the star wheel and what would happen if you didn't do that? and 2) A lot of those projects had a few different elements to them e.g. scoring, then foiling, then cutting. Can you create all three different 'commands' in one project on Design Space? (sorry, I'm new to Cricut so just getting to grips with it!), thank you for all the inspiration! xx

The star wheels can actually give enough pressure to transfer some of the foil. I have messed up and NOT moved them and it been okay. But I have also not moved them and it left some foil places that it shouldn't have been. It is best to always move them so your project doesn't get messed up!

The debossing tool is a plastic ball so I am thinking it will not press hard enough. But I did not try that. I may have to try a few tools and see what happens!

I have found that the foil won't transfer to some materials. Like certain papers it doesn't work well with. I haven't, however, been able to narrow it down to WHY that happens.

Hi I have used bold tip for first time, and it was working very well, but in second time to make same thing , it didn't transferred image as it should be, and the output is pale (it is not complete image, some outlines are missing), and I tried for several times to make it, and in every time I taut my foil sheet very well to ensure no any winks or any bulges , putted all star wheels on right side, and putted tape around all 4 sides with whole pieces of tape strips, although I have tried to replace tip with new one, but the problem is still as it. Also, I have increased foil transfer tip pressure, nevertheless I have noticed the tip doesn't go down enough, and it doesn't press on foil strongly, form where the problem do you think?

Great video! Thanks so much! I am looking for an answer to an issue I am having with my foiling on my Cricut Maker 3. I load 65 lb smooth paper stock, the settings are for foil bold, I load the bold foil tool in, it does its thing, but then when I take off the foil, you can see that the foil is broken and didn't apply for the whole design! It's looks like the foil barely adhered to the paper most places. So frustrating! The foil is taunt when I tape it down. I tape on all 4 sides. Anyone know a solution? Thanks!

Thank you so much for a more descriptive details and demonstration. I am new to cricut. I have been trying to make labels for my products with my explorer using wood grain textured paper and the foil will not fully adhere. Watching this I think I may need to change the material setting, I have it on light cardstock. What did you put in for design space for it to cut out a full sticker and not the inside details? My labels have draw, foil and print and cut in the design, but on the cut part it keeps cutting the letters and not the actual label.

To have it cut the label, you will need to flatten your printed elements to your outline.

For the stickers you made here, was the vinyl you used the kind you would put on glass/mugs/etc? Or was it actual sticker paper? Is there any material you have tried to foil that did NOT work? This was printable vinyl so it has a matte finish. I haven't tried it on regular vinyl with a shiny finish.

It is NOT easy. The lines have to be digitized at EXACTLY 1 pixel wide in order to make them true draw lines.

I have the foil quills (all 4) the Heidi Swapp minc, deco foil... all of them. and this solves everything I didn’t like about it, the most important thing is it looks more consistent. Heading to get it!

YES! I have some plans to try some other brands of foil but I have not seen many people have any luck with them unfortunately.

I got some Clear sticker paper, but it says it's not compatible. Tried the White sticker paper option and Printable Vinyl but they both aren't transferring the foil fully. Should I use Vellum option and maybe the Medium tip?

The printable vinyl worked fine for me? Try a different tip maybe with the printable vinyl. It may be the combination of the material and the tip size.

I tried this tonight and also have had it for a while.. it didn't do well at all on double lined letters. It looked faded in spots. I even made sure my foil was taught... any suggestions? It was on white cardstock

I am finding some cardstocks just do not work well. I am not sure however what exactly it is that is different with those. I just haven't done enough experiments yet.

Have you compared it to using a scoring stylus or debossing tip together with a pen for some similar results? Have you tried to use scoring stylus or debossing tip on foil directly to get same result?

Hi Angie. I'm not new to the cricut foil tool. I have used it a few times at first with no issues. Transferred beautifully but today I started using it again and every project got ruined. I'm using 80lb white cardstock on an Explore machine and the foil did not transfer in many areas. Any idea what is happening? Is it best to use on the Maker? Thank you so much for your input.

Sometimes I have issues out of certain brands of cardstock and I cannot narrow down what the reason is. Try maybe a different piece and see if that is the issue. Also, sometimes one of the tips gives me issues. So if you are trying to do fine lines you might try medium and see if that fixes it.
