One of the coolest places I’ve ever been. Unfortunately it’s been about 15 years and I’ve only had the opportunity to visit there once. Sanibel and Captiva are absolutely beautiful. I did take the Ding Darling loop. Thanks for bringing back some great memories Brant. Keep up the great work. Long time watcher.

Brant, The style of landbase fishing has come back allot vs boating, personally I totally enjoy finding hidden spots to catch variety and some really sizable fish. I actually enjoy the solitude also of so few people and watercraft. It's an adventure to those of us that just wanna fish.

Sanibel is one if the best best fishing locations in Florida. Endless Mangroves all year in any part of island. Snook, Reds, Trout, and spring Tarpon in the sound. If you can cast net 3-4" pilchers they make for snook candy. Also helps to weed out the smaller mangroves.

Might consider in your travels of shoreline fishing this time of year in SW FLA stopping first in Charlotte County east on the Peace River, then make your way into Lee County along the Caloosahatchee River also east before heading west to Sanibel and Captiva. Earlier cold fronts and our skinny winter two tide days push the bait along with slot reds and behemoth snook into the warmer waters away from the Gulf and into more brackish areas. I'd definitely use braided and least a 20 to 30 pound tie off when they hit because they're hungry! Take good care on the travels.

Let me tell you a nursery rhyme. Brant went fishing in a south florida canal and caught a bunch of little fish. Ok so it doesnt rhyme but it was in the nursery. Lol. Long as you are enjoying a legal pursuit so be it. Most of us would love to be doing exactly what you are doing reeling in those short fish.

Circle hooks work wonders. I've got thousands and thousands of big snook using 20lb fluoro leader, 10lb and less mono & braid, and 1/0 & 2/0 circle hooks but, then again, most of those have been on the beach in Juno Beach & Jupiter so I'm not worried about them getting caught up in the mangroves. And fortunately, the ones caught on the beaches of the southeast coast are all at least decent sized with the occasional monster.
@JoeyDelrosario-c9y4 күн бұрын
Great videos Brant. I’d rather be catching fish than sitting on the couch bad mouthing a guy catching fish. Great skill placing your bait in those mangroves. Have you ever tried fishing between Boca Grande and St.Petersburg along the coast targeting jettys and passes? Other YTs have great luck fishing them.

Been to DD many times. Best spot is the 2nd spillway. A lot of places like where you are at his hard to get anything of size out of the water. But yeah lots of snook and snapper there. I was there about 3 weeks ago and nothing but snapper. Caught 2 keepers the whole day. Yeah Brant that cold snap slowed the fishing down a lot.

We used to just pull up wherever we wanted on the beach hwy out of Navarre and slay the Pompano and Whiting using just sand fleas we collected out of the surf. I don't guess they just let you park anywhere on the side of the road after the condos and hotels these days. Those were the good ol days.

Brant, why are snook one of your favorite fish to catch? Live in Oklahoma, grew up in Michigan, an incredible fishing location by the way, but it appears that you have a definite passion for snook.?. Curious as to why, as a life-long fisherman, my only journeys to your great state have both been for Disney World. Once as a child, once to bring our children. Thank you VERY much Brant, you're my first "look for" for new content!

We stayed at Gulf Shores last summer. We were thought about going to Destin Florida this year. Would you recommend that or go further down to Fort Myers? Don't know how long you were down there but when we go to Gulf shores/Orange Beach we stay there for 2 weeks sometimes twice a year. We go to the state park at Shelby lake and get an annual parking pass for $100. It's good for all 6 of the state park beach parking lots. ONLY THE STATE PARK BEACH LOTS!!! It does not include any of the pay to park street parking or parking at the Little lagoon pass. Got a parking ticket at Little lagoon thinking our parking pass was good there too..... wrong!!!
