Funny when he said the Yeti had seen better days because it was so scarred up but I think the Yeti had seen better days BECAUSE it was scarred up.

What reel was he using?

Not sure. This was awhile ago. Daiwa Lexa 100 Line Counters are the really dominating right now.

We have the 300s now. The 100s have been on back order. Should be available in June. On rods like the 801 and 901 the 300 size is a good option. They balance well and give you line capacity in case you want drop deep for Mackinaw or something like that. Also, it gives you another great salmon reel. We have the Accudepth reels which are also a great option. www.anglerwesttv.com/daiwa.aspx

I was thinking of pairing it with a Okuma SST Kokanee rod it’s a 7’6” Light action I tried it before with Kokanee and I really liked it. But maybe I’ll get the 801 and the the Lexa 300 and use it for salmon too. What pound test braid is best for Kokanee?

The SST rods are fine for the price. The 801 is just a big step up in all ways and gives you a rod that can handle big Mackinaw and big kings. You will see the bites much better with the 801 as well. If you already have some shorter rods, you might consider a 901 which will give you an extra wide spread off the sides and can really handle the big fish. Just come into the shop and put a 300 on a rod and see what you think. We are open Tues-Sat 12-5. With any reel purchase we offer a free spool of J Braid. 30lb is what I use for Kokanee.
