I’ve learned a bunch just from watching two videos. Utilizing the line to wrap up the sand shrimp so it lasts for a bit is a great tip for a coastal newbie, like myself.

Tip, (suggestion) the sand shrimp he's showing is the male Ghost Shrimp, it has one big claw and it's white. When taking Ghost Shrimp take the male and leave the female, she will have eggs all over her body.

Man I can't tell you how much I love watching you fish the jetties. It warms my heart to see and hear the appreciation and respect you have for our great state and it's fisheries. It's almost as fun watching you catch fish as it is... Hold on no it's not😆. But it's a real close second. I've probably passed you to or from our favorite jetty but now I know face. Keep spreading the word to take care of our shit. I hope to see you soon. See ya Nick.

I was trying to use a setup like I saw in another video of yours and I had the swim bait just like yours but not a Jig hook for it the store only had these tiny ones so every time I was casting out my line came right back, and some local guy pulled up in a pickup truck, got out lit a cigarette and walked up to me and goes "Catch anything?", I said no and explained the situation and the fact my weight was too small so the wind was getting me. He mentioned watching your channel and was also coming out to try the same setup so he had just ran by the tackle shop in Newport and said the same thing happened to him the tackle shop was all out of those bigger sizes because in that area they are popular, but he said as he went to leave to shop owner had suggested the spot I was at to him and had reached into his personal tackle box and gave the guy like ten of those bigger jig hooks so this guy dug in his truck and gave me 5 of the 10 so I could try! hahaha It was cool we both watch your channel and the shop owner hooked him up so he passed it on as well and hooked me up! 🤓

I went to Barview Jetty last Sunday shorty before lunch and didn't catch anything from the surf even before and after high-tide. It was quite disappointing because it was first time my son and I fished the Oregon Coastline. I did notice one thing about this beach and it gradually goes out flat- I mean you have to really probably walk about 50 yards or more for it to probably see any surf perch. I felt we were casting in the shallows and no more than probably 2-3 ft. We used those Berkeley sand worms on a high-low rig using size 2 hooks and my first cast I felt a tug, but shortly after that no more. No signs of any sandcrabs on that beach as well. It wasn't a good day overall to fish. We also lost a great amount of pyramid weights because I used an improved slip-knot on the weight ends which was too weak to use. Bad advice from someone else's video here on youtube but it was a lesson learned. Also switched to my callista but since water looked so shallow, that seem ineffective as well. Our trip was not all for a loss though as we were able to gather some large cockles down in Netarts but my son didn't want to use some of them for bait. LOL. I wish I saw your video first before going out to improve our chances of at least trying to catch something. Perhaps next time we go back out we're be more prepared. The cockles were sweet and had a oyster-like flavor but better. They were great eating!

It’s a beautiful spot man and not many people know about it or don’t wanna hike 3 miles to get to the lake and you can hike the trail all around the lake and get all the views and nice fishing spots. It’s not that far also if your by Salem. It’s definitely in google maps, but it’s a little bit past Detroit lake and you gotta take one the Ramps up the mountain.

In Oregon is there a minimum size limit on kelp greenling? (Sorry to have to ask, but ODFW's website sucks beyond belief.)

xyzct - lol they definitely make you search for things. I’ve never seen any reg on size limits but they make a few recommendations about releasing anything under 10”.

@@AnglingAddictsPNW, yeah, I've seen that 10" recommendation, and that's what made me concerned it might be an actual regulation. I don't want to get SWAT teamed for a 9 15/16th inch fish. Thanks for responding. I've been enjoying your channel.

xyzct - haha I hear ya there. I usually just try to play it safe and only keeping ones I know would be keepers if there was a reg in place. Thanks for watching the videos! The next one is going to be a good one!!

Check your local regulations. Washington mandates barbless hooks, And you're not allowed to use any bait that might work for any reason.
