The first solo is Kiko's (who is playing with Megadeth now) and the second one (after the vibrato) is Rafael's. They were 21ish when this album was recorded. Also, Alex Holzwarth (ex Rhapsody of Fire) was the drummer in the studio, and it was recorded at Kai Hansens studio in Hamburg.

Luis is a beast, even in 2004 when both he and the singer left the band and created the band Shaman. He doesn't move a lot now, and looks like Rasputin. If you love hard bass players, look up Seventh Wonder. That bassist is fucking incredible

André was shredding since he was 16 in the late 80s with his first band Viper. Very interesting sound and definitely worth a check. First album was very power metal. Iron maiden and Helloween influences The second was closer to Angra's sound. It's called theater of fate

Luis Mariutti (this bassist) stated that they recorded on tape... there is a video of him talking about the endures of the band making this album. Like, they were very young (just the vocalist and one of the guitar players ever recorded before) and the cultural shock of going to Germany (and face a very different culture with a way more advanced technology) to record it. If you can, listen to the rest of this album, like the song Never Understand. They gone way beyond the power metal and are a very versatile band. As a BONUS, I leave here for worldwide bands a precious tip: Luis Mariutti is not playing with any band right now. Soooooo... if you want a freaking good bass player, contact the guy and leave a good offer... 'cause he is also an awesome folk... very easy to work with.

@@ReactarooSkidoo actually he became a Muay Thai teacher (he have a team that compete in some amateur tournaments), have a band with his long time friends (like the first folk with who he had a band) and they are doing some 4fun gigs in São Paulo city's night and, once a year, a Shaman's concert. His band plays more casual musics, and booth it and Shaman are more like "friends reunion" than serious projects. But he still an amazing bassist and I beat that he is waiting for some really good offer to come back. And that is the thing. There is no band big enough for him in Brazil (not "big" in quality but money... rock and metal in Brazil are bankrupt... not even Angra and Sepultura are making money here)... but in North America and Europe things are nicer. Luck will be the ones who reach him first with a good offer... there are not so many bassists with his caliber on rock/metal around the world. I will just say it: I'm a bass player (was professional, before gone Tinitus) and can play most songs of folks like John Myung and Billy Sheehan... but aways had a lot of difficulty with Mariutti's and Andreolli's (the guy who substituted Mariutti on Angra). Not because they are better or not... but just because their play style is very trick. Mariutti on Shaman is waaaaaaaaayyyy easier. Cheers!

@@ReactarooSkidoo Those folks from Angra use to be way above smart and speak more than three of four languages easily. The only one that is kinda simpleton is Edu Falaschi, that should be forbidden to verbalize in any language lol. Mariutti's dojo seems to have a lot of students and his classes are no easy on pocket. I really don't know why bands on the larger markets don't contract those folks. Kiko Loureiro was contract on the first offer. And Mariutti is not the only instrument hero unemployed here. Research about a fellow guitar player called Edu Ardanuy (Eduardo Ardanuy) and his former band, called Dr. Sin. The band had retired a short time ago and the guy is only teaching. A lot of folks around here think that he is better than Kiko... at least he is fast as hell. There is a big generation of very talented Brazilian rock/metal musicians wasted here. Some bands, like Megadeth and Manowar (that, today, is half-Brazilian), realized it. There is no more market for rock/metal in Brazil, beside huge international bands... and is very hard to a band leave here to try their luck overseas.

I feel like there are a lot of metal bands that don't make a lot of money. I remember watching a Lamb of God documentary and seeing how normal they were and how modest they lived. Of course the guys in Angra are world class. Seems like record labels only pay rap artists the big money. Of course a lot of the rap guys have clothing lines etc. In the 70s labels really have the big rock bands whatever they wanted. Led Leppelin stayed in an old mansion to record an album. Even in the 80s, Megadeth got a studio built just to record youthenasia. It's sad that even if you are crazy talented in metal, you may not ever become rich doing it.

+Reactaroo Skidoo so glad you enjoyed this. Its like a perfect song in itself, not only for musicians and people that work in audio but even for just any casual listener. If you like this their cd's Angel's Cry, Holy Land, and Fireworks are classics, but would recommend you do a reaction video to anything on their Ritualive DVD, perhaps Over Your Head and Fairytale. By "their" I mean Shaman as Angra broke up, where only the two guitarists stayed, the song writer/founder Andre Matos who is the singer and keyboardist left with the rest of the band to form Shaman. Shaman is considered the actual continuation of Angra. Everything Matos does though is just fantastic. He's classically trained in bel canto singing/lyrical singing and keyboard/composition.

Listen to Shaman - Fairy Tale! Shaman is the band that Andre Matos, Luis Mariutti (the sick bass player) and Ricardo Confessori formed after they left Angra. The Ritualive (2003) show is fucking perfect. Also try the early Andre Matos stuff like Viper, the track Wings of the Evil is my favorite of that era, such raw power and I believe he was only 16 back then.
