"Angry" Dave's Adult RC:Tamiya Sand Scorcher How To Build P3

Hello again my fellow Adults. I know it has been weeks since my last installment, but life is a pain in the ass. You know it. Things are a bit wacky behind the scenes right now so videos will be a little irregular for a while. I will still be posting though, so keep your notifications turned on and we'll see you when we can for now. Now, let's finish that damn Sand Scorcher!

Hi Dave, on the re-engineering comment: it is a 30year old design but in the 30yrs I've been running them the steering rod had only ever popped off in a crash, as its designed to do. I think also that you tested it on the worst surface possible. They love the loose stuff like sand and fine gravel with some gentle dumps. Anyway, i hope you were happy with it in the end.

You're right, and that's the problem. I'm not going to use it as designed. I'm going to use it as a trail rig, so the terrain will be even rougher than what I tested on. It shouldn't be too hard to do, I'll use pivot ball end links and a more standard servo-saver and it should be fine. Getting the servo mounted differently will be tricky, but not impossible. It actually hasn't gone any further in the build than the end of the video, lol. I'll do more vids on it when I paint it, and when I convert the steering, and then some trail runs. Have well enjoyed watching this these videos. Good work. One question, can the shocks go either way? I noticed yours were the other way up from the manual illustration pictured.

Yes, they can go either way and it shouldn't affect operation. I had to do that because the seals suck and they leak, alot. I didn't want a puddle of shock oil on my shelf. Thanks for watchin'! -"Angry" Dave
