@Ed Carman Why include a lot of superfluous and questionable editorial 'information"? Just erodes the credibility of the rest. WAKE simply has similar concerns and interests when it comes to ACC matters, just like UVA & DUKE. NCSTATE will often vote contrary to UNC, yet that annual game would have been preserved in some way in or outside of the conference structure.

When the ACC split into Divisions few of the teams were happy with where they ended up, so to get the plan accepted the conference agreed to allow conference teams to schedule "non-conference" games against each other to fulfill the conference's requirement for every team to schedule at least 1 non-conference game against a Power 5 Team.

Big 12 scenario. If Baylor wins out, ISU wins out and OK beats OK State, it’d be a 4 way tie for 1st place. In that scenario Baylor and ISU go to title game due to their 2-1 record vs the top 4 teams

Of course if Georgia loses then playoff rankings would be messy for the committee to think of which top 4 especially if Oklahoma loses one game at least.
