Joe utterly messed up there on Payday 3. Whether a company likes you or not, you are not in service to the companies, but to your fans and audience. So Deep Silver likes the show? So what? It shouldn't matter to him at all. You can't excuse them just because they ""took"" criticism and said a few sweet nothings to your ears. They knew what they released, and weren't sorry for taking peoples money deceptively. He also didn't properly disclose it was sponsored, KZbin actually REQUIRES creators to clearly state when uploading via a checkbox if the video is sponsored. They literally have a system for this. Putting it as a footnote in the description is NOT enough. I love AJS show and have watched it for 13+ years now, but seriously the list is getting long and frustrating.

We don’t have issues with sponsorships really, or that you went back to a game that screwed up. It’s just that you never seem to go back unless you get sponsored/payed, and then hid the fact that it was sponsored. Clarity would avoid most of it.

It's fine to wait, but if they feel they need to improve or something, then hire a full-time editor who can take the load off the gang when the workload is too much. This would allow them to focus more on what they want and cover a wider range of content. I'm fine with the current rate of reviews though I will admit I wish they would release more and cover more, but I understand the reasons listed. I think getting an editor to help out would be a nice middle-ground option that'll help all parties. But I have no idea how much that would cost or if it's in their budget.

I think the biggest Issue with the “Payday 3 Video”, is the fact that it goes against a lot of what Joe and others claimed to have stood for, over the last few years. The idea that we shouldn’t just allow companies to put out terrible games on day one, and then give them an undefined amount of time to make things better after the fact. I’m looking a you Tod Howard. This practice allows corporations to basically get away with lying to the consumer upfront and selling garbage games, with the hope and promise that things “might” get better later on, months or sometimes years later. We should hold these developers, studios and even non-gaming companies, accountable for their release states. And even if games do actually improve over time. They should still be regarded as tainted products. Until the companies involved make up for their past mistakes, by releasing new titles without the issues, bugs, gameplay features or monetization practices that got them in trouble in the first place. After reading the comments myself, and listening to the whole Payday speal. I think Alex says it best as he has said in the past, "You got caught with your hands in the cookie jar". Its plain to see you got paid to review a product and that lost peoples trust bc money can easily sway many minds in this world. Another thing i noticed some mention is Joe complaining saying he had to work a 40 hour work week on a single project and it drained him. My brother in christ that called being a functional every day worker in America. Sure most do 8 hours per day for 5, others do the 10 hours for 4 and some do even more all just to get a fraction of food they use to get on the table. Your trying to pack peddle here and come off as relatable to the masses when your doing the opposite. Just be a man about it and say it like it is. Just putting my two cents in. Quick history of angry reviews: used to have 2-3 reviews a month. Originally about 10 mins long, eventually upgraded to around 20 mins. Even later to around 30 mins of higher quality. Also important to note that the channel has branched out by adding additional content like movie reviews, newscasts and podcasts etc. Basically if you want more angry reviews, petition (or complain or whatever) to AJ to do less of the other stuff. I thought he already brought this very thing up last year and had a poll but im not sure how that went down.

Nobody is owed anything. You are not owed sponsorships. You are not owed paid vacations from game devs. You took them because it was easy money. You are not owed review codes and viewers are not owed videos. The problem is communication. When people see you putting time and energy into a sponsorship instead of other good games that also launched recently and are worth playing/discussing, they see you being lazy and putting money over integrity. You took money from Deep Silver to go back to Payday 3 instead of playing Mouthwashing or DBZ or Dragon Age or AstroBot or Metaphor or Monster Hunter. Combined with the obnoxious amount of TV and movie reviews flooding the channel and of course people are upset. Its a simple as that. Communication is the most important lesson you never learned. You have to let your audience know a sponsor is a sponsor. You have to let your audience know certain videos/games will not be covered due to personal IRL problems. People are here for your opinion, if you leave them in the dark and spring an ad on them, dont act surprised they get upset.

Not gonna lie, the Payday 3 coverage was terrible. The game still sucks, only 400 people on steam have given it a positive rating. ANGRY JOE: ARE YOU STILL PLAYING THE GAME? Doesn't matter how much you say you're being honest, we know you're not fully honest in those cases. You can't be even if you try. I've seen way too many sponsored videos by now to know how it goes. People always greatly exagerrate how good something is and underplay the flaws. And it always comes off as cringe and disingenuous. You developed a reputation of being brutally honest. You had integrity and the reality is sponsored reviews will inevitably damage your reputation and integrity. I think it's that simple and it's up to you to determine how important your integrity is. But it is what it is. It's not surprising at all that people don't want to see you get paid to review things positively. Even if it's 100% true that payday is good now, because they had to pay you to check it out, it doesn't feel like it's genuine interest in the game.

Been following the channel for the last 15 years or so. Im 35 and I feel old... Have always taken what you folks have said about any piece of media at face value. Regarding the recent reviews, the issue isn’t so much about choosing a discussion format instead of the usual "angry review" with costumes and skits. It’s more about communication and managing expectations. For a while now, you’ve been letting us know the review was delayed, but there wasn’t any mention that you’d be switching to a discussion format rather than the traditional "angry review." When fans have been eagerly waiting for an "angry review" and then see a notification that it’s out, it’s natural for them to expect that specific format. It would have helped if you’d given us a heads-up that it would be a discussion format-perhaps in the title, like “Space Marine 2 - Angry Discussion” instead of “Angry Review,” or even in last week’s AJS News, or a community post. That would have managed expectations and avoided the surprise. I don't dislike Angry Discussions, I think it can be some of your best work like the Fallout 76 Extended Review Discussion. Similarly, regarding the sponsor controversy, it’s again an issue of communication. Sponsorships are perfectly fine; you’ve had many in AJS News without complaints. It would have been helpful if the video had a clear sponsorship or paid content label at the beginning (It's just one button to press). Currently, the only indication is a single word in the last line of the video description. This is what left some viewers concerned. (You can see the top comments complaining that it isn't marked as sponsored content and that the sponsorship is hidden in the video description.)

Joe, the problem was because it was a sponsor video, and sponsor videos usually are just people reading out from a script, it doesn't matter if the devs are fans of your show or how much you try to convince us that you were being genuine, we've been lied to many times by other channels. The moment you get paid to review something you will not tell the truth because you know that if you say something negative you will lose opportunities or you might worry that you will hurt the developers because they have given you money, plus these guys who worked on the game have been terrible to their customers. The way you talked didn't felt genuine right from the start of the video, it sounded forced, you were overly excited when you haven't even played the game yet. look I'm gonna be honest regarding the payday video, for me it's really simple. I cannot get any value from someone's opinion on a product if they have taken money from the people who make said product and my respect for the people doing it drop if I feel they haven't properly informed me of this fact. I feel like Joe has gotten to the point where he doesn't really see the difference between being sponsored by Manscape and getting paid to review a game. But it should be obvious. You're sponsored by Manscape but people don't follow you because of your opinions on Manscape products. And no one is under the impression that your feelings on Manscape products are genuine. To all the people… I don’t care when the reviews come out as long as they do it. Who buys a game early anyway? I always wait for reviews that come out after 3 weeks because the honeymoon phase is gone and how can you say you really can review a game on day 1 release. That all feels too bought out. I like how AJ always takes longer. It means he actually reviewing the WHOLE game not being bought out by corporate to give you a quick review to buy the game and it be trash. Plus you’ll probably get it on a deal if the game is bad by waiting as well. By all means if you like a game then buy it before a review, but don’t force a guy who actually fully plays games to hurry his process up. Go watch ign and those bought out channels who give you watered down bs and you end up wasting your money

Personally, I really like Joe and the AJS crew! I appreciate what you do. I watch this news thing every week when it releases. I watch a lot of the movie and game reviews too. That said, particularly with games, it has been very slow. Granted, yall had the air conditioner problem and it’s impossible to work in Texas without air! Though, I think it’s been this way for a bit longer. Back in the day we would get a review about a month later, maybe 2. Those old games were WAY shorter and less complex than modern games which take hours and hours. That said, games don’t stop coming out. I want to see your reviews on my favorite games but sometimes it takes awhile and I forget you were going to do a review. I think it might be a good idea to hire a few folks or have Other Joe and Alex tackle some reviews solo. Keep up the good work AngryJoe!

thx for addressing the PayDay3 thing. People have always been on you for volume; I remember when ppl gave you shit for taking a vacation years ago. Just be transparent, take care of yourself and family, and remember you can go back and revisit games when you have the time (i.e. Dragon's Dogma 2).
