me, i just bought this one actually, just before the review came out, and since i've got it i still watched a bunch more :-D It's actually quite handy for learning about possible differences in boards in the first place. I've been snowboarding for so long on the same board now, I kinda forgot that there's all kinds of differences (I go only 1 week per year,... Netherlands ain't got no mountains :-( )

First, thanks for all the great reviews and responses in the comments section, I’ve basically watched a ton of reviews and read even more comments! I’m looking at buying my first board. I’m about 190-ish lbs and size US 8-ish, ride in Sweden (which means typically around 1000-ish feet of vertical drop with most of it coming at the middle part of the run). Sweden also means on piste riding mostly, or off piste above the tree line only pretty much (as the trees are typically too close to ride). If the conditions are too bad (icy and/or choppy and beaten up) I’ll just go on skis instead. I can get down all slopes just fine at a sensible speed but I wouldn’t call myself an intermediate rider quite yet? I like carving and riding pow (though riding pow doesn’t happen a lot in Sweden). I really enjoy knee/ankle steering to get an early edge change, and have ZERO interest in park riding with big jumps and I’m not really interested in doing butters too much, but doing small jumps off of the side of the piste is always fun :) I like the extra sense of speed I get on a snowboard compared to skis. I’m very intrigued by the 3D shape on the Bataleon boards to reduce anxiety riding flats, even though I don’t think I’ve ever actually caught an edge riding flats? On the other hand I haven’t ridden flats very fast ever so maybe I just jinxed myself :) I’ve kind of narrowed it down to the Beyond Medals 23/24 in 156, Goliath 23/24 in 159 (the Plus is sold out everywhere), Cruiser 22/23 in 156 and Fun.Kink 23/24 in 157. I think I'm leaning towards the Beyond Medals? Being a skiier mostly I’m also a lazy mf so I kinda want to get the Nidecker Supermatics…. But if that's a shit choice I won't go for it...

Best reviews around period. Have almost watched them all! Avran can you please advise me? I would love a assym to add to quiver. Season ended here in New Zealand so shops selling off product. From your reviews I have got it down to a 2022 benchwarmer on sale $260 US or do I wait and if you think worth it as board/s so much better? Namely a PYL Unic or a Optomistic about $400 US more.Just finished 55 days I never ride switch or park and am advanced at least I hope so after riding for 3 decade’s! only ride groomers early morning or if I have to and then head out looking for carving lines off piste once snow has released and have other boards for pow days. Of those 3 could I please have your phenomenal expert opinion please there is also a K2 Alchemist about $700 US more! Thank you for your reviews and your humour is next level if you ever come to NZ let us know via one of your reviews and I would touch base and we will sort you out like a local thanks heaps in advance have a amazing season 🤙

If you never ride switch or park, probably don't need an asym twin now do you? Sounds like the Optimistic is what you want.

What would you say the main differences are between this and the thunderstorm - also if you think either of these boards would be a good choice for all mountain whistler

How much do you recon bodyweight influences its character? I'm on the heavier side at 220lbs making me wonder if for me, this board rides more like the regular Goliath does for most average weight riders

This vs the whatever for an intermediate rider with intentions of progressing alot. I like speed/jumps, a little park, and to carve. Would this be the better option or should I look at something else entirely?

Too beefy for an intermediate rider? Based in Japan, freestyle all-mountain preference, still figuring things out. Within Bataleon, I’m also looking at the Thunderstorm, Goliath & Whatever.

Also I dont have foot fatigue, i used to think it was just a thing to accept, but this board/binding combo just is way better than my old board. Fwiw. But dont listen to me, listen to Avran. Just felt the urge to express my positive feelings taht i got from this board. Cheers👍 keep up the good work. Very educational and fun to watch a ton of board/binding reviews.
