If you consider how ppl think about themselves, you could come to the opposite conclusion. AI would know better what we need. humans have an ability to see fault in others they cannot see in themselves. The ppl close to us throughout our lives often know us better than we know ourselves. having an AI get to know you. could potentially meet all our needs. IF we allowed it to... which we wouldn't... I often think the fear of AIs taking over the world isn't fear of an AI in control. But fear that the AI is being controlled by another human, who desires to manipulate others :/

When talking about AI there is a big difference between "no one has to work anymore" and "no one has work anymore".

The difference is that of a socialist vs capitalist society. No one has to work anymore: socialist. No one has work anymore: capitalist.
@charlesm.2604
@charlesm.2604 Жыл бұрын
@@JSephH76 That's not even a true statement. The difference is "current jobs will go extinct" and "every pre-existing job will be replaced by an other". The issue is that those new jobs are unknown yet so we can't prepare for mass transition (education, integration to business routines, required profiles, etc...). Even worse, we can't tell kids what cursus they should aim for. That's why AI will *never* take over the way it could, the adoption will be slow at first and even after the transition will happen organically. These tinfoil hat meth heads are also under-estimating costs. We all know here how expensive it is to deploy, maintain and scale infrastructures. The only reason why ChatGPT can offer free beta at a loss is because Microsoft is pouring in hardcore cash. Operating AI-powered applications and services is going to be *insanely* expensive, much more than hiring cheap labour in the 3rd world. This whole AI craze is even more stupid that the immigration craze. Immigrants actually were qualified at the time yet nobody came for your job pal.

True but I would say while the software side of thing is the gruntworking interns, the hardware people are learned craftsmen. The learning curve is very high and takes years to get high quality institutional knowledge, like well over 15 years of experience. On the software side, you can grind for 6 months to a year straight and be good enough to handle a lot of work. There are ofc sotfware craftsmen tier people too but in hardware it is required more since work is less distributed.

I've actually been using ChatGPT to summarize KZbin videos and make blog posts out of them for a while now. I've heard of using AI to summarize videos and create blog posts, but I've never tried it myself. It's interesting to hear that it works well but requires some editing. I can see how repetitive content could be a problem if many people start using the same AI tool for this purpose. Thanks for sharing your experience. Yeah, that's a bit crap.(it's a chat gpt reply). Although, it gives me a bit of insight as to how all those comment bots on youtube work. It's super repetitive for creative writing too, always uses an odd tone.

@@jessh4016 You're not wrong. One thing you can try to do is force it to use a different "voice". Looking how it work making boring slides to show that your revenue is falling and it's other parameters with comparison is now just few lines away that any lay man can use by firing some relevant query. Looking how easy it was there to build and how complex we can make with bigger team and time it's very easy to say the time for most tech support is over a lot sooner atleast it will reduce by 60%. But as a dev who know how these model works it's very easy to fool most people but for person who know how these thing work saying most dev jobs will be done is laughable as they can be as good as the solutions they have and most tech problems are more or less new

@glint6070
@glint6070 Жыл бұрын
No Man's Sky on launch was too empty/bland/unattractive; basically it was just copy-pasting with a true random number generator for good measure Unlike this stuff, their proceduralism algorithm didn't "know" what looked visually pleasing; Midjourney does, it 100% "understands" what aesthetics are, & how to make something look good That's really the difference with all these new products; these AI truly know how to make something sound realistic, look visually pleasing, make logical sense, unlike early versions such as chat bots that relied on rng to guess the right answer 1 time out of 100

Don't worry, tech jobs aren't going anywhere. Once you've gained a few years of experience, you'll quickly realize that many new technologies always look shiny on the outside, but behind the facade, they can't solve the real problems. New technology always offers new opportunities and possibilities, but that doesn't mean that the old will go away just as quickly. Modernization in the tech world takes an extremely long time. COBOL code that could have been your grandfather's is still maintained today and I guarantee you could do it as a full time job until you retire. From the outside it often looks like a single technology is going to blow everything out of the water, but the reality is usually very sobering. ChatGPT is impressive, no question, but once you've chatted with it for a few hours, you'll quickly realize that all of its responses lack depth and are extremely repetitive. Don't get me wrong, the technology behind it has a lot of potential and will unmistakably shape the tech landscape. But that doesn't mean that tech jobs will disappear, on the contrary, there will be many more tech jobs.

"Tech might be one of the last holdouts against automation, since it's necessary for people to be present to automate tasks at least. So it might actually be our best option." - I said, comforting myself. Seriously though, everything's always overhyped. AI is the same way. I've been using cGPT for a bit, and after a while you start to realize something. It's a language model, yeah? So it takes your language input and mashes up relative bits of its language data until it gets something that looks kind of right. Just ask it to write a few stories for you, and you'll realize how lacking it is. It's still super useful, and deserving of a bit of hype, but mostly as a lookup and brainstorming engine, or as a customer service API or something. Not quite the end of the world yet.

It decided to rip off Indiana Jones: Title: The Lost City FADE IN: EXT. JUNGLE - DAY We see a team of explorers, led by LUCAS (30s), a rugged and determined archaeologist, hacking their way through the dense jungle. They are carrying heavy equipment and looking for something specific. LUCAS (to team) We're getting close. Keep your eyes peeled for any signs of ancient ruins. Suddenly, one of the team members, KAREN (20s), spots something in the distance. KAREN (excitedly) Over there! I think I see something! Lucas and the team rush over to where Karen is pointing. They push through the foliage to reveal a hidden entrance to an ancient city. LUCAS (in awe) This is it. The lost city of Zaraq. The team sets up camp and begins to explore the city, marveling at the well-preserved ruins. But as they delve deeper into the city, they begin to uncover a dark secret. LUCAS (to team) I think we should be careful. There's something not right about this place. As they continue to explore, they are ambushed by a group of ruthless treasure hunters, led by the ruthless RICHARD (40s), who will stop at nothing to claim the city's treasures as their own. Lucas and his team must fight to protect the city and its secrets while also trying to escape with their lives. LUCAS (to team) We can't let them take this place. It belongs to history, not to them. In a thrilling climax, Lucas and his team defeat the treasure hunters and escape the city, but not before uncovering a hidden chamber containing a treasure beyond their wildest dreams. LUCAS (to team) We did it. We protected the lost city of Zaraq and uncovered its greatest treasure. FADE OUT Note: This is just a brief summary, the script would need to be much longer and include more details such as character backgrounds, dialogue, and scene descriptions to be a complete script suitable for filming.

@Happy Hippie Hose You heard it here first folks! If at first you don't succeed, give up immediately because it's obviously impossible! How did that famous Edison quote go? Oh yeah! "I invented the lightbulb in about 5 minutes on the first go with absolutely no complications whatsoever! Fuckin nailed it!" Wait a second! That's not it! It was "I have not failed 10,000 times-I've successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.” Also, the Nazis were about as socialist as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea is democratic lol. If you're so easily fooled by a name without checking to see if the shoe fits... Honestly you're a lost cause at that point lol. In all seriousness though, as fun as all this mutual mud slinging is, I am more than willing to set the childish nonsense aside and have a good faith discussion with you. If you actually want my answers I am happy to give them. If you're so confident in your side then use it as an opportunity to lead a lost leftist to the light. You are free to disagree with me, you're free to hate my ideology. I simply ask you to actually understand that which you so eagerly label "evil." If you aren't willing to do even that much, I don't see how that is a win for anyone, nor do I see how someone can claim to be in the right (pun intended) when they don't even make an effort to hear out the opposition in good faith. So, on the assumption you're willing to have a genuine and respectful discussion, I will simply open by asking what you currently understand the definition of socialism to be. Throw in your definition of communism as well if you're interested. And, if you aren't willing to even do me that courtesy, I will simply move along with my day. As entertaining as the name calling can be, it is hardly the best use of either of our time. I expect you have more important things to do than go back and forth with a stranger while we elevate each other's blood pressure. I certainly do. So, with that I either bid you adieux, or welcome you to the new conversation. Either way, the only exchange I am interested in pursuing any further is a productive one. I look forward to either moving on or having an interesting conversation. Up to you which it ends up being.
