Navika Kumar is a household name when it comes to television news. She has been a flag bearer for women journalists, one of the few woman editors of a news channel. In a candid conversation with Smita Prakash, Navika Kumar opens up about her family, her transition from print to television news, and the struggles of multitasking as a mother and an editor. For the first time, she narrates about what happened that evening during the controversial episode which included Nupur Sharma which drew a lot of flak. Without mincing any words she sheds light on the feud between her and friend-turned-adversary Arnab Goswami. We also come across her Zen-like persona while dealing with trolls and other critics.

3 people have taunted either Arnab directly or his Republic TV Channel, when he was going through a low phase, after the false accusation of bribing to get TRPs. They are, Rahul Shivshankar, Rajdeep Sardesai and Navika Kumar. Although, I respect all 3 of them, their criticism against him was a shock for me. My respect for Arnaab increased 1 notch high, after watching the podcast with Smita Prakash, where he didnt name or shame any of them, even after coming out clean from this scam. He said he doesn't like bitterness. This man is GREAT 🙏

I have chanced upon your podcasts and seen two.. this one and the one with suhel seth… you are doing a marvellous job of managing your guests…… Since I don’t watch TV nor listen to any debates as a shear waste of time , I did not know who you are , neither Navika kumar… I personally have had terrible time with journalists doing absolutely false stories during my working life and hence branded them all with one brush as complete charlatans…… however listening to Navika on this podcast today has really made me feel good…. She comes off as a wonderful talented and committed person with a passion for what she does… most of all I loved her attitude towards life and the reality check she lives by ….. kudos to both of you ……and God bless

I remember Navika's days in Print! I was working then with a Telugu daily called Vaartha. It had a Delhi news bureau chief Rajagopalan ji. Rajagopalan ji had the best inside information from not only across the ministries in Lutyen Delhi but also from his home state of Tamil Nadu and also from the unified AP. He would compile bullet point newsbreaks for his AP boss, Mr Sanghi and SMS them. He would also share the same info with select journalists in Delhi. I have seen even the super cop like KPS Gill sab also calling on him during those days to get info from MHA! Navika as a young print reporter would drive down first thing in the morning to Vaartha's office in Delhi to get the days updates!
