Centipede Hz was mostly great, and tbh I still think it’s a strong 7/10, with several songs that rank amongst their best. Also, I know Antny isn’t the AnCo freak that I am, but my god man, there’s so much more to the post-MPP period than just Hz and Painting (which I’ll admit, I think is their weakest album period), and even even more more when you bring the solo works they’ve done since then into the mix. Look, nothing is ever going to pass up that period of my life when Feels, Strawberry Jam, and Sung Tongs were the soundtracks to my psychedelic youth (also Person Pitch), and yeah, MPP is still better than this album and every LP they’ve put out since, but I’m not nearly as down on them as this melon fvkk. Anyway, glad to see he likes it. For me it’s a solid 8/10, looking forward to seeing them live in March for the 5th time since 2008, at which time they’ll take the medal for band I’ve seen live most.

@nikolademitri7313 жыл бұрын
@@mikeexits hey man, that’s cool. I’ll be honest, if I was to make a ranking of all their albums, *collectively* and solo, since 1999, I’d probably put Eucalyptus towards the lower tiers. That’s not to say I hate it, I actually quite like it, but those earlier albums, particularly the albums from the aughts, just are so connected to my development as a kid and young adult that it’s just not possible for the later ones to impact me in the same way, as much as I think most of their work across the board has been great. But hey, I hope the albums from them that you love the most are as meaningful to you as my most loved are to me. It’s cheesy, but it’s on a spiritual level for me tbh.. Those joyful noises were an anchor to reality in many states of unreality for me, in a number of ways. Some of them, sometimes simultaneously, fill me with brutal melancholy and ecstatic joy, because they take me to so many places with so many faces and I relive and relearn when I hear them 13-17 years later, but hey, you didn’t ask for a bio. Hell you didn’t ask anything. ✌️❤️♾

@@tris421 I feel like Fall Be Kind is a combination of all the sounds before it, distilled synergistically, but also point to the things coming next. I can’t say I think it’s the best thing they’ve done, but I’ve heard that opinion, and I get it. For me, it’s probably my favorite EP from them, and definitely in my top 5 favorite releases from them, even including the solo releases. No song on it is below an 8/10 for me, with “What Would I Want? Sky” being an 11/10, just a shockingly brilliant and beautiful peace of psychedelic/experimental pop perfection. ✌️

I hope Animal Collective’s new members Kinky Effluence, Terse Gynaecologist, PDP Soup Canz and Tangerine Spats-Lawnchair all bring something new to the table.
