As a Black person, I didn't care who wore the hair. I was just happy to finally have hair in the game that looked like mine. I mean, part of the beauty of the game was being able to wear outfits and hairstyles and decorate your home with elements of cultures all over the world. No one said a word if I walked around in a kimono and a Sombrero...it was wonderful for so many cultures to have representation and for us to be able to experience those cultures in ways we otherwise would not.

Same some people don't know how annoying it is not having basic ethnic features in games. I don't mind anyone using Afro puffs or other hair styles for their own, it spreads the culture in my opinion. I have mixed people in my family who look 100% white but can grow large afro puffs, it's normal. So many korean and Japanese games don't even include my shade and I'm like come on you can implement this in under 5 mins!

It's nice to have more representation. And you are also right about race and hair, because I once saw mixed race twins that almost looked identical and both looked White except one had very smooth blond hair like his mother while his brother had a real deal afro like his father....but also blonde! Humans come in so many variations of colors, features, and hair textures and it's nice for us to be able to showcase that in games.

The best part about the Ankha thing is that Zone will never play another installment of the series again, and likewise will never be an 'Ankha Zone 2'. Zone only played it because it was "in", and coincidentally happened to have Ankha in it, a character that became famous because of minus8, an artist Zone idolizes. So Ankha's reputation was tarnished by someone who only has a rudimentary understanding and care for the series, unlike minus8.

That being said, Zone only has a passive interest in Animal Crossing, quite literally only played the game because of minus8. Probably had a junkrat moment where they saw Ankha was in this game, remembered minus8's animation, and then yelled "I GOT AN IDEA!" Zone will very likely not play another AC game, and very likely not draw Ankha (or anyone else) ever again. Zone was lucky that Ankha is the 'least animal' like character, she has no snout, no whiskers, nothing distinctly animal besides ears and noses. Zone would for sure never draw Isabelle.

By twitters own logic, black people (or poc, hate that term) can't use the original hair styles. But it's sad that it crossed over to real life. Like no race owns a hair style. As a white person, I think a lot of it comes down to that classic "white guilt". Which while I understand the feeling, I view it more as something to outgrow as you get older rather than double down on? Though the irony of white people talking over black people (often contradicting them) in order to "defend" them is not lost on me. It's also always over the most innocuous things; hairstyles, clothing, music... Idk, I just don't think it's that hard to just listen to the people who actually know what they're talking about on these things, rather than grappling for the moral high ground on social media.

And for my side unfortunately, there's a narrative where I'm supposed to hate white people or blame them any time I fail to do something. New Horizons just got too big, mainly because of the pandemic and the lockdowns right at the time of release. If this hadn't happened, the game wouldn't have been this mainstream and would have mostly been for the OG players and new players who just like that genre.

For the Ankha thing, you had it backwards; the original “Ankha Zone” video was the NSFW one, and people started doing the tiktok dance afterwards. Most of the people who did the dance on tiktok were completely unaware of the NSFW nature of the source, they just saw other people doing it and thought it was a cool new trend.

They're afro puffs by the texture but really, the issue is Nintendo could have done multiple hair styles, in diff textures. I believe New Leaf has a straight haired space bun, so give us both? I'm personally a curly haired white person and neither the barely there waves, straight or afro hair matches my texture. People have made concept art for hairs that basically look like several of the straight ones with coils and would suit the game really well. But Nintendo jumped ship sadly, ACNH with a few more updates and even paid dlc could have become the definitive version to play

I like the idea of having a horror themed island but it only really looks good when its night and/or raining. And what about when its sunny? or snowing? Lovely pink petals or feathers floating through the air? Do the decorations coincide with the weather or are you going to be playing with an off-looking island most of the time? I had to see what the Evil Imp issue was. I honestly love the guy for his skill in film making, especially in the early days. About the Ankha thing, Zone made the video that got popular (hence the video's title) which was nsfw. I'm pretty sure it was a recreation of the video made by Minus 8, which was also nsfw. Both Zone's and Minus 8's videos predate the sfw versions, so what you said was actually the other way around

I love how it goes from all this controversial stuff to "Now let's focus on the froggy chair :D" I'm white, and honestly it's actually racist of a person to not allow somebody to do something because they're white. The law of not discriminating against somebody because of skin colour doesn't just apply to darker skin colours, and a lot of spoiled brats who think they're being held against because they're a different culture when really they're just as equal will go after people with lighter skin colour. We've gone from discriminating against blacks to discriminating against whites, and it's a really sad thing to see since the original thought was to actually be equal. It's easy to see that people thing blacks need to be better than whites for them to be "equal," and many people get offended when they're actually treated equal despite it being just a skin colour or a cultural difference.
