8PM is a standout track in most of the Animal Crossing games. It tends to rely heavily on its respective game's main leitmotif, but it tends to do so about as well as you possibly could. This is true for ACGC, ACWW, and of course, ACNL.
I think 8PM is one of New Leaf's strongest tracks. It's simple, straightforward, and memorable. It isn't too repetitive (though it is a little short), and the chord progression is really fun.
I also feel like it fits the hour really well. It's not too sleepy, but it's definitely starting to quiet down. You know how you might have some extravagant sound during a fireworks show, then just some regular music as you walk away from the venue? That's kind of how 8PM is -- 7PM accompanies the climax of a vibrant sunset, and 8PM embodies the calm after the radiance.
This time, I wanted to make the arrangement sound a little different from other recent ones. There's no trace of accordion this time, and I used a different electric piano. Makes me feel like I'm in the 90s!
