I guess that’s a big positive for living in one of the colder regions of the world. Australia is just so hot and humid that it brings out the scarier creatures. I know I’d be more at risk to a pack of wolves than to a bunch of giant snakes, but I’d rather face the wolves lol

Australia is not so bad, most of the deadly animals are media exaggeration. I'm not saying that we don't these deadly critters, but it's not as much as a common occurrence, also we have a huge array of beautiful wild life that can only be found here, especially the common birds like rainbow lorikeets, kookaburras and even cockatoos Basically Australia has deadly stuff but it is a huge country with a variety of ecosystems so please don't knock it of your bucket lists when COVID restrictions are lifted, just because of a few snakes and spiders ☺️

@@Amy-oh8qb Male pythons fight like that. Even the much smaller ball pythons that I have. I've put my 2 boys together once while I was cleaning enclosures, and they did the same thing. It was October, breeding season for ball pythons, and the females were receptive. It's a wrestling match, really. They will try to push each other down, and one will try to pin the other. They don't usually bite one another though. I did get the boys separated, and into separate holding containers. It was the first time I ever saw that, and never let it happen again. (Jan Griffiths).

I love the bats! My son had a small bat swoop down on the back porch about a month ago and grab a fairly decent sized beetle while he was sitting outside. It startled him, and he came in and asked if we had bats. I said yes, so now he's planning on installing a bat box out in the pasture. Even though we're getting ready to sell the house, he thinks the bat box will be a good point of interest for a potential buyer. BTW, he's 26... so I do value his opinion.

We don't have anything like this in Europe so I thought myself "that is a big fucking spider" and nothing more of it and I asked her what it was and she didn't know. Long story short their rented house had to be fumigated because those spiders were dangerous (not sure if it was this kind).

Wow those scrub pythons are BEAUTIFUL and absolutely MASSIVE! Those look like something that if it was a pet (as I would keep some of them if I was aloud) but they would need a huge room or a one room house! (At the minimum) also very glad they found the funnel web spiders… personally would’ve locked the children in a safe space that is also on a bed or something as they are very deadly… and yes, males are way more venomous than the females… pretty sure that’s how it is with all spiders not sure though… all of these animals are beautiful yes, but also quote dangerous for most (if not all of them) and it’s so cute when the little kiddo was saying bye to the bats she was saying bye bye bats that’s so adorable

So random snake story. When I was little my family and some other families used to stay at this campground that was the perfect conditions for reptiles and there were lots of big goannas around. All of us kids were riding around on a really sunny day and talking around. I was going across a path and I heard my sister yell ‘Stop’ I looked across and there was a red bellied black snake that was over a meter slithering across. It was around half a meter from my bike before it slithered across the path underneath a caravan. My six year old self then became very wary but apparently I’m a reptile magnet and the same thing happened with a 2 meter long goanna and a tree snake I thought was a large cable tie. I just love living in Australia.
