@loketron I think it's already recorded! From their tumblr: "Lisa’s in LA, Cedric’s in LA, Juan’s in LA = Big Sir new album recording sessions….", that was posted on May 16th
@DandelionVolta14 жыл бұрын
@loketron He also played drums on some of Omar's solo albums and on the next Big Sir album (Juan and Lisa Papineau).

@theodorewilhelm oh yeah that makes sense. yeah, i definitely feel what you're saying. I don't think it's really just about finding people who want to play the music you do, because many of the "volta family" have very different influences. the main thing is finding people with the same drive and same love and thoughts on music. If you look at a band like Can as well, they all had very different musical influences, but its a good thing. I know what you mean though and its what I want too.

i think this song is also covered in some ORL album. Great stuff.

@tarantism14 жыл бұрын
@theodorewilhelm Do you think Omar ever said "i'd sell my soul and give up my leg to be apart of larry harlow's group!". I'm sure he did as a kid but there comes a point when your own music is more important than anyone else's. As much as you may idolize them, you would be worthless as a musician to want to create yourself in another's image. Even if you go your whole life thinking about how much greater they are to you, one should always create one's own image, don't you think?

does anyone know what pedal juan turns on around 0:16 that gives him like the harsher, crisp tone?
@R3TR0R4V34 жыл бұрын
Probably a Boss CS-2 compressor/sustainer pedal.. that's one of mainstays.
@tehlarsie13 жыл бұрын
@Amputecht1 uhm not really, cause I bet he's playing one of his fretless here
@MyEggIsBoiled14 жыл бұрын
@agadez13 I know that feeling. That's why my band is a three piece. Because if music around here isn't a constant breakdown OR rapping about bitches and money kids just don't accept it. A progressive instrumental trio doesn't fly too high in these parts haha.
@Bassmastasnake3312 жыл бұрын
yo dude no way its not a pedal. But ive concluded that its either his cs-2 or the micro amp. he also doesnt use musicman basses, its one of his fenders probably
@kruzti7 жыл бұрын

@allerdyce14 жыл бұрын
@brownchambersheath i totally agree, but this isn't jazz. this is.......kinda like progressive soundscape instrumental or something...i dont really know. it's using the head of naima as inspiration to put a completely different take on it. at least, thats what i like to think.
@agadez1314 жыл бұрын
@canthinkverywell i agree. ive been trying to find open minded musicians but either people get too structured or too hardcore orientated if anything. kind of a bummer
@wendighoul15 жыл бұрын
Yes, absolutely, too bad I have no talent.
@tarantism14 жыл бұрын
@theodorewilhelm I'd rather take a small influence from them and create my own group
@brownchambersheath14 жыл бұрын
i love all these dudes, but playing the real book version of the "naima" head at the begining of a jam and blowing over so called "free jazz" form doesn't mean your playing naima...it means youre quoting it in a jam...again, huge fans of these dudes, but if theres any real jazz heads out there, can u hear any changes, or direction to the sax solo? it sounds like hes just blowing, where as a cat like pharoah or ornette, while free, are playing purposefully...just my opinion. Love to the volta fam
@japas12 жыл бұрын
I think it's just aggressive attack on a musicman bass.. sounds like no pedal is being used
