I see a pattern in nature..... You see, Tasmanian Devils are known to live short lives because they fight so much and the females die sometimes. Then there’s something that makes females regret their choices. It balances nature because there’s downsides to mating and it prevents from producing too much young.

The only Fossa I saw in real life was a specimen in an enclosure in Antsirabe, Madagascar. According to what I was told it had been taken in as a pup after its mother had died in a roadkill but attempts to tame it had failed and it remained as wild and wicked as could be, hence it being in this enclosure. So I am told that there is a fossa in there and that I should not get closer than one meter (approx 3ft) from the fence, and man was that a healthy advice: As soon as I had reached that 1m line the fossa, which I hadn’t spotted, leapt from under a bush and went straight for me, all claws and teeth out. Had the fence not been there It would have been impossible for me to defend myself. One mean animal, the fossa.

Sometimes, I'm just amazed at nature. Used to think the wolverine was part of the canine family because of the name wolverine and looks like a wolf-bear hybrid. Then I find out that mice and rats who are part of the rodent family cannot breed with each other no matter how similar they are with each other.
