Chimpanzee. The Ryu family is very interested in their new family member, Marimo.

※Marimo, a female, 11 years old, came to Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Garden from Yokohama Zoo on March 4, 2024.
Marimo is in the middle of acclimating to her new environment, so the Ryu family spent time at the playground while Marimo spent time indoors. The Ryu family is very interested in Marimo. The family and Marimo seem to like each other, but when the twin sisters, Karan and Koe, tap on the glass window, Marimo is stimulated and gets excited, so her father, Ryu, and grandfather, Charlie, are careful of the twin sisters. Excited Karan and Koe could also be seen raising their voices and lying on the ground.

I've watched a ton of chimpanzee videos over the years. This was one of the most fascinating one's I can recall. Just seeing a new member in Marino and how each member of the troop treats her differently is so interesting to me. I hope you capture more videos of Higashiyama Zoo as they slowly assimilate Marimo into the troop and how it plays out, WISHING Her the very best

Extraordinary video about an extraordinary family!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your footage, we can rarely have such a deep insight into the introductory process of a new troop member! I need to watch it again and again, there are so many interesting interactions among the chimps! Now it seems the "boys" are okay with beautiful Marimo, but sweet Kazumi mama is very stressed - maybe the girls just mirror her tension by banging on the glass and throwing spectacular tantrums. Kalan and Chloe both have strong personalities, extremely spoilt and attached to their mother, and can be nasty sometimes, but hopefully they'll calm down a bit if Kazumi mama accepts Marimo. I'll cross my fingers for Marimo's successful acceptance!

I sure hope the zoo doesn’t allow her to be an object to bully and beat for those very spoiled nursing twins. Likely they are worried the new female will want to nurse their mom too.

Whoa!!! Are you serious? The twins are STILL NURSING? They must have emotional issues. Yotsuba started eating solids earlier than the twins (most likely due to her sisters🙄) I know that Choe is real dependent on her mother, she always holds on to her when it's time to go outside for breakfast.

I feel sorry for her😢.. It's like taking a lamb to slaughter, she's scared, so scared. Ryu is rubbing his hands in anticipation, if she doesn't greet him every chance, he will pounce on her. I pray she's accepted by Ryu and Karan...Kazumi is sweet and she'll welcome her. Kazumi is now the Queen, i remember when she was the lowest on the totem pole.
