Pete: Your opinion on wrestling shoes for deadlifting? I believe the argument for them is that they are very stable/uncompressible while also giving strong arch support, making it better than no shoe.
@DaKosi
@DaKosi 7 жыл бұрын
If lifting without straps, do you recommend a mixed grip? I noticed that a mixed grip stresses one side of the back/middle back more than a normal grip. Is it better to avoid mixed grip for symmetry reasons/strength reasons?
@Walruskinz
@Walruskinz 7 жыл бұрын
Kos G I'd recommend hook grip but Pete hates it so nevermind that. Pretty sure mixed can cause some imbalances but they are easily fixed with other exercies. Honestly I'd just say go with whatever you have been using/whatever you're the most comfortable with
@24notter
@24notter 7 жыл бұрын
Kos G If you focus on maintaining the same position throughout the entire range of motion, then imbalances are harder to come by. As someone who trained with a hook grip for a couple years, I built a strong base of maintaining a neutral position throughout the lift. Even when switching over to over/under, I notice I maintain a balanced position. It just takes discipline and time on working to maintain a balanced position.

when should u start using belts//straps? im like a 152lbs and hit 315 for 1 rep today. so as hard as it was for me, i dont think its time to add anything. i figure wait until i hit 375? I dont know. my core is good but not my grip i feel holds me back so id be more inclined to cop the straps.
@Tyler21Roy
@Tyler21Roy 7 жыл бұрын
Mr. J1S number 1 thing is to stay heathy so if you feel that you need that belt to create that core bracing then I'd say get a good one. "Heavy" is relative to each person so keep that in mind. You can benefit from a belt at 315 the same way you can at 405/495/585/675. Belt isn't just to save your low back from getting hurt. It's to help give your core something to press into and create a tight core. Everybody had a different opinion on straps. Guys like Konstantin Konstantinovs say they never use straps but guys like Pete Rubish or Chris Duffin use them during training. I feel if your grip is holding you back from progressing on the deadlift, use them. But keep in mind, you need to be doing grip training to overcome that.
@MrJ1S
@MrJ1S 7 жыл бұрын
yeah i think it be better if i just actually grip train. aint no straps in the real world

Practicing hinging better. Lumbar flexion is paired with posterior pelvic tilt . Also notice that with rounding, you might be experiencing premature extension of the knees and shooting up of the hips. If you learn to hinge properly, you'll optimally be able to load your glutes and hamstrings. Then no matter how much your t-spine flexes, your lumbar will stay fairly neutral.

@lambdaz8953
@lambdaz8953 6 жыл бұрын
Josh Woodley Yes, you can hold much more weight that way. However it does pose a risk of tearing your bicep. Safest bet is to just use straps if youre not competing.
