MORE ABOUT ME
I'm Anne of All Trades. In NASHVILLE, I have a woodworking, blacksmithing and fabrication shop, a selection of furry friends, and an organic farm. Whether you've got the knowledge, tools, time or space to do the things you've always wanted to do, everything is "figureoutable."
I became "Anne of All Trades" out of necessity. With no background in farming or making things, I wanted to learn to raise my own food, fix things when they break and build the things I need.
8 years ago I got my first pet, planted my first seed and picked up my first tool.
My goal is to learn and share traditional techniques and skills while showing my peers how to get from where they are to where they want to go, how to do the things they are passionate about, and what can be done TODAY to engage their own community and grow deep roots.
Whether it's carving spoons, making my own hand tools, restoring my antique truck or growing heirloom tomatoes, the farm and workshop definitely keep me busy and support - whether financially through Patreon, through shopping my affiliate links, through buying merchandise, plans or project videos, or even just liking, commenting, and sharing my content with others helps me GREATLY to keep producing quality content to share.

Hello Anne, I’m an almost 72 yr old woman, who in the last 4 years has been teaching herself to grow food. I love to cook so have always had pots of herbs and edible flowers growing in and out. But as I live on my pension, and food prices being what they are, I’m trying to grow enough food to at least last through our growing season. I just discovered your channel and am blown away by you. I wish I had discovered this passion earlier, (I too love animals, and am loving learning about gardening) and would definitely have been a homesteader. Thank you so much for all that you share with us, about your life and what you have learned. You clearly are a remarkable woman. ❤

Come on……. You have to be learning SOMETHING from the chickens!! Two days ago, I walked into the coop to find a baby chick cold and lifeless. I picked it up, immediately, started praying and asking God to spare this life. Today she is walking around full of life!! These last two days, this little chick has taught me how precious life is!

You're a classic giver. You needed those animals/others/future children. It's easy to forget our needs. Givers show up for others and put others needs before ourselves. Don't forget to love and care for you as well. If your cup is empty, you can't give to others and it will burn you out. Don't ask how I know, but I'm sure every momma or animal momma out there can agree. Love your vulnerability ❤❤❤

Nothing happen unless we make it happen. Determination when required, rest when we need it, patience when we make a mistake, time to observe different ways of doing and its results, freedom to learn and the common sense to share with those who also want to learn. To be able to shed a tear is an important part of life as we let go and create space for new experiences.

We must all remember that one of the the most important abilities is availability. Being physically available, 'showing up' for your animals & your loved ones. Emotional availability 'attending' to the emotional well being of your loved ones and just as importantly, yourself.

Anne , Animals teach us so much ! One thing is " How To Be" If it not for Animals I would not be the person I am today , in fact I may not BE at all. The unconditional love of a dog , the connection to the wild of a horse , the wondering contentment and time disipline of a chicken , the socialness of a goose and the fun loving tomfoolery of a goat and I'm sure I'm leaving some out (ADD head) have all inspired my life and made me able to understand how humans ( that never made any damb sense to me , at all) operate . Most importantly they mirror you and that helps you learn who you are . ie; Horse therapy . very valuable. Thanks for your channel , I thoroughly enjoy it.

I can so relate on several levels. BetterHelp was a godsend. I’m scattered and take on too many different projects. My 18 year old, that I see once a week, gave me a hard to take wake-up call. Full disclosure: I was crying before you. Having difficulty making phone calls or scheduling appointments? *raises hand*. Needing a therapist? *climbs on chair, waving and calling attention to himself*. No idea if my benefits will work with Better Help (being in Canada) but I will check it out. Hurtful words from people we admire? I was told that one of the reasons I kept being cast aside by individuals and groups was that I, "challenge people to be friends with me". I wish I really knew what this person meant by this but she is dead. This crap lives rent-free in head. I hate it and it is getting worse. Thank you, Anne, for this video in particular. It helps me feel connected during a not so great time.

I lived in the city raising 3 children for 24 yrs I recently moved to the county starting a small hobby farm I've never been happier in my whole life. I loved this video so much. Thank you and God Bless you. I wasn't going to mention this. But in 2018, I was on my Harley Davidson half mile from my camper. I hit a deer going 50 mph with four vehicles behind me. The speed limit was 55mph the first vehicle was a nurse who stoped to help me she knew right away I had a punckcherd lung by the way I was breathing ,I also had 13 multiple fractured ribs fractured clavicle and scapular. I honestly should have died. Recovery was long and all I could think about was a small hobby farm with a couple horses ducks barn cats and of course my trusting 5 Labradors. My life feels so whole and humbled. I thank you for your channel. My animals help me so much with my depression and pain.

There are certain things in life that look so easy, routine and simple to one person, but can be like climbing a daily mountain for another, just because of how we are wired differently. Acceptance is the key to this... you have to accept that it is a part of you, acknowledge it and love yourself regardless, but you have to refuse to accept that it will control your life and stop you from doing the things you truly love and reaching the goals you aim for. In emptying that tin you have done that, and that's why you rock!!

Animals will teach you about YOU. Spend time with them and allow them to spend time with you. You will learn so much about life and yourself than just about anywhere else. They can't speak in YOUR language but they can understand you in so many ways you have never considered. Learn them and you will always have a friend and comforter - no matter what the animal INCLUDING chickens. I had a pet chicken that i raised in the house and it would eat from my hand or lips and sit and talk in its own way. It would know when I was sad or happy or in a bad mood or whatever and took whatever action it considered was best for the moment. Granted chickens are NOT the best for making animal contact but a good pig or cow or dog or cat ... they all are great companions.

Love the video! I’m curious as to why you feel that chickens are useless? I thought you were kidding at first and then realized you were serious lol I’m only just starting my venture into the homesteading world and got some backyard chickens 12 weeks ago :) they have taught me so much already and they bring me so much joy. I am so grateful for them and I don’t even have eggs yet! I suppose it depends on each individual person’s experience and the lessons they may need to learn. I can’t wait for the day that I get to purchase land that allows me the access to care for these beautiful animals and the lessons that I will have the opportunity to learn and grow from :)

As a fellow Adult A.D.H.D.er I've always felt a true kinship to you and your journey. I have frequently pointed people to your channel for the sole reason as a good example of someone who's story includes such levels of overcoming obstacles! You deserve and HAVE my highest respect as it is a similar journey to my own. The story is not always a fairy tale but that does not matter because you are NOT DONE and God is not done with you! You are always adding more value to the world around you. This next part is mostly toungue-in-cheek but does have a little application here. I will admit to a bit of being overly philosophical for a moment, too.... As to those apparently useless chickens for this video of lessons and illustrations I think that their story looks pretty ugly right now. But when they provide me with my absolutely favorite breakfast they become an important element adding value to the world around them. I think the lesson from them is to never judge the story of another person. Quite frequently we see people whose story is not currently a fairy tale but that does not matter because that individual is NOT DONE and God is not done with them! They continue to add more value to the world around them... i.e. eggs. (YUMMY!!) Here's the lesson, when we look at others we should never condemn another living being just because their story is ugly, seemingly pointless and maybe even lazy. Always encourage (i.e. food for the chickens) and hope for the best in them and they will frequently surprise us and become a beautiful thing! The person that you used to respect that passed judgement on you and affected the trajectory of your life could have learned a lesson from those chickens. I can fully relate as I have had many people in my life say similar things, some of which hurt for decades. Who knows... maybe one day those chickens will help keep the insect pressure at bay in your garden! 😅🤣😂 Keep up the great work every day. You are such an encouragement to me every time I get the privilege of watching and rewatching your content! (By-the-way, maybe Adam of no trades will one day surprise us all! Ah hah hah hah!!!) In a reverse-side-note, I hope you were able to regain your respect for that person that hurt you. Normally, that turns out to be someone close as in my case. Looking back over my life I try to give those people the same view... maybe they were not at their best at that point but it is always my hope that they will continue to add value to the world around them. I don't believe that God is done with anyone who still walks this world with us!

It may seem that I am overstating the obvious, but you posses the most important tool that any human can access for free: your mind. Regardless of any challenges you may have in your life, what you have gained in the way of knowledge is priceless. For you to be able, without a script, to speak for 15+ minutes on about 187 topics is an exhibition of genius. And to be able to do so many things well makes you a Renaissance Woman. Schools should use your videos to help teach what is possible for anyone with a developed curiosity and desire to master a subject in spite of the challenges of being human and flawed. Any parent would do well to set with their child and watch your videos together as a point from which to have discussions. You are erudite in the extreme. Thanks for being brave, honest and sincere as you work out your life and growth as a strong human. I am 77 and have met few people at any age that are as wise and adept as you are today. I wish I could see you at 77! Ah, the possibilities... May God continue to bless you.

Oh Anne, you amounted to EVERYTHING the day you were born. And being extremely multi-talented is an awesome gift, but something I've found to also be an awesome challenge. I feel you! Your channel means a lot to me and my farm. I will continue to show up for you. 🐴 🦙 🐔 🐮 🐐 🐷 ❤️ Melissa

Wow thank you. I have mostly similar view of myself before I took on the responsibility of a Dutch Shepherd, easily 5x-10x more dog than I have ever had before. I often look back at the mighty effort that I have put into him over the last 4 years to make him the perfect house-dog, trekking dog and backpacking companion. Your video has caused me to wonder if terrific growth I have been experiencing in other areas of my life might have a lot to do with being there 100% every day for my dog. Thank you for sharing this insight.

I was surprised about your chickens, couldn't think how you didn't have anything good to say about them, wondered if I should tout their worth. Just waited. Then saw in next video you were kidding. Ya got me! Gave me a chuckle. Of course, chickens are great too.

Anne Your video's just keep getting better and better. I have been told similar things as you. Like jack of all trades Master of none. I keep my head high and over the year's most people need my input for their solution to their issue. I hope to meet you someday. I am here in Tn. The Blacksmith classes are of interest to me. Will you do more video's or Have classes.?
