Fucking right it’s a masterpiece. Not just my favourite Floyd album . It’s my favourite album of all time. Wasn’t always the case either. I’ve grown to love it more and more with every passing year of the 38 since I first heard it

As a Floyd fan i never understood how this was always so overlooked. This album is a masterpiece and I've heard dogs almost monthly for 30 years.

Animals is truly great. I agree with most of what you had to say. As a single coherent masterpiece, it's definitelly one of Pink Floyd greatest albums, if not the greatest.

It's up there with Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here and The Wall for sure.

The English music press at the time wrote PUNK Floyd; I don't see any similarity to Time. The content is inspired by George Orwell's book Animal Farm from the 1940s, which is still relevant today. In my opinion, it had to be required reading in school so that everyone became aware of social classes and their consequences. This album with Echoes and Atom Mother Heart (prefer the live version from KQED TV Broadcast 1970 without an orchestral arrangement) are masterpieces to immerse yourself in; Dark Side is a feel-good album. Keep it up, thank you.

So you're okay with all the other animal sounds that represent their namesake songs, except for the pigs which do the exact same thing. What ya got against pig sounds? What were they supposed to do, bring back the dogs barking? LOL Anyway glad you liked it. You're in for another stunner with "Wish You Were Here". Prepare for a possible ratings change. All of the mid and late 70s Floyd albums are considered masterpieces. Pretty sure you'll agree after hearing them all. Enjoy!! BTW, that's a voice box Gilmour is using in Pigs that's making some of those pig sounding harmonics, it's not a harmonica.

yeah im gonna go ahead and dip out after pigs on the wing pt 1. Look man, I really appreciate that you were open to giving this incredible album a listen and I respect that your individual opinion will differ from mine, but brother at the same time that's not what bothers me. just critically think for yourself man. this isn't just a good musical skill to have but a great life skill as well. You read a "genius" summary about both pigs on the wing tracks, and immediately jumped to the conclusion that, "yup these are love songs, and they have nothing to do with the album"??? brother they are ON the album lol. Even if that genius summary is 1000% factually correct, hell if freaking Rodger Waters himself confirms these tracks have NO flow whatsoever with the album, you have your own set of ears. Like brother, just come to your own opinions. Music is subject to interpretation, and every decent musician understands this. I assure you, if you have the lyrics open for every track on the entire album, both the starting and ending track will absolutely make sense and align with the core themes of the album (look for pigs on the wing pts 1 and 2 with the guitar bridge connecting them). My own interpretation is that, the first track is an allegory to the "rat race" of modern day society that many men feel obligated to participate in. We all lose friendships for one reason or another, but after the fact we usually acknowledge that we can ourselves cut certain people who don't "benefit" our lives out, or who bring about negative energy. And during this time we convince ourselves that it was for the best to cut out that negative energy, even though it never goes away and never will. It just manifests into different forms. Like Pigs on the Wing. Or Managers, bosses, businessmen, politicians, world governments, etc. Part 2 can be an admittance that often times when we look back on these past relationships that we once cut off in our lives thinking that we were "fully in the right", the true nature of our hearts quite often betrays this line of thought. And even though you'll likely never be able to verbally communicate how "dumb" it was to cut someone out who you didn't see at the time aligning with your life, you can look back on that person or memories, and come to understand that they might have been in a similar position as well, since everyone has to participate in the rat race to an extent. You can think back, reflect, and even be hopeful that they went down a much better path in life and perhaps found a new friend, family, relationship, to keep them going, a place where they can "bury their bone". Because evil will always exist in the world no matter what, but we still all crave home. A shelter. From pigs on the wing. This came off as hyper critical but please understand that I wouldn't have bothered to comment if I didn't think you were open to new perspective and potentially change. All I ask is that you not necessarily agree with me, but that perhaps you start to just merely reflect and not always accept the first answer. You're too smart to let a website like genius give you the clear cut answer, and even if you're not smart, stand by that. Carry your own opinions with pride, because at least they are your own.

@@hunchosett I'm gonna be completely honest, this is reading waaaay too far into an interpretation of a song. From a mix of reading other interpretations of the song on genius and looking back at the lyrics myself, it is my interpretation that the opening and closing tracks are love songs that are context openers and closers rather than the main meat of the album, but still necessary pieces of the puzzle. I look at sites like genius because I have trouble interpreting lyrics and writing in general, and I like to see how other people view the song so that I can get multiple angles to help me form my own. The fact that you're willing to write off this whole video based on that one thing is super dismissive.

"Dark Side" overrated? Really? Here is some info for you. The song. " The Great Gig in the Sky?" This songs vocals were sung by singer Claire Torry. Her very first take is what you hear on the album. No auto-tune, no digital copy and paste. Today's music can't hold a candle to the artists of the 60's, 70's and 80's.

It is ultimately his opinion whether you like it or not and this is coming from someone who loves Dark Side of the Moon as well as the 3 other albums that come afterwards.

Overrated? Yes, imo. Bad? I didn't say that. I showed a screenshot of my score on the album being a 9.5/10 (near perfect btw), and said it's incredible. Just because I don't think it's the #1 greatest album of all time, doesn't mean I don't love it

I hate to say this, but copyright is a pain in the a** to deal with and he even mentions it towards the beginning of the video that he had to take stuff out from it. The stream itself where this video comes from was taken down sometime after it ended because of copyright.
