This girl gets it. Her facial expressions and dancing are exactly what I feel inside when I listen to this. My late Dad's favorite Floyd song and one of my favorite songs of all time. I have very fond memories as a kid with my Dad listening to Floyd with a pair of Klipsch corner horns in our small living room. On more than one occasion we'd have neighbors coming over to see "the live band" they thought we had or even the police coming down from a busy nearby park a block away. One memory I have as maybe a 10 year old (27 years ago), the police knocked on the door for 20 minutes... My dad ignored them until my Mom made him answer the door. The cops told him they could hear the music from down the road and they would write him a ticket if he didnt turn it down. He looked at them and said "I haven't heard this song in years", closed the door, went back to the living room and cranked it. I think it was a Floyd song but I cant remember for sure. Ill have to ask my Mom lol.

I saw this album Live on their 1977 tour in the old Boston Garden. I won the all time music lottery that night as Animals was the first set then after an intermission, they came back and did all of Wish You Were Here. The encore was a jammed out medley from Dark Side of the Moon. One of the best shows ever, you can hear audio from it on You Tube, it is well worth searching for, David Gilmour used a stinging Fender Telecaster for Animals and his signature Stratocaster for the 2nd set. They had a pioneering 5 channel PA system that was the most immersive I ever heard, the separation was like having headphones on, we were right next to the audio/video island in the center of the floor so close to the focus for it, it was astounding to experience. They were decades ahead of everyone with their show presentation. Hear it ASAP and enjoy! 🔥🎵🎸🎤🎹🎶🔥

Roger, for all his flaws as an human being, is a genius lyricist and in this album he was at his most poignant, incisive and brutal self. As for David, he did most of his best guitar work here, not only on the solos but also riifing like a maniac, although he probably disagrees. Glorious album.

Roger Waters was inspired by George Orwell's book "Animal Farm", while recording the "Animals" album. At the end of this song Roger Waters is basically saying all human beings are essentially the same. Power corrupts. Notice how the sheep had an uprising and killed the dogs. They thought themselves became the new dogs and began to abuse the weaker.

During their tours in 1974, Pink Floyd played three new songs in the first half of the shows, followed by The Dark Side of the Moon in its entirety. The three new songs were "You've Got to Be Crazy" (which later became "Dogs"), "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and "Raving and Drooling" (which later became "Sheep"). "You've Got to Be Crazy" and "Raving and Drooling" were originally planned to be on the album Wish You Were Here, but plans changed and they ended up in different forms on Animals as "Dogs" and "Sheep".

It's about the oppressive system created by Wealthy Elite Capitalists (pigs), how the F45C15T police state (dogs) rises up to protect the status quo from Revolutionaries, and those who buy into the status quo (sheep). The context is both Roger Waters and George Orwell are Socialists (actual Leftists). Read _Animal Farm_ (the book this album was based on) and _The Communist Manifesto_ to see past the real life status quo propaganda.

It's very intentional that the opening of Sheep puts you in a trance. Because the overwhelming majority of us "Sheeple' go through life completely unaware of how they're being controlled and manipulated, anesthetized into a laconic subservient stupor. And those that are aware mostly remain docile because they're comfortable. But should the Sheep collectively awaken and decide they've had enough, all Dogs and Pigs need to run from the demented vengeance Sheep will inflict. If the revolution is successful, then eventually from the revolutionary Sheep, eventually Dogs and Pigs will arise and the entire cycle will start anew. It's human nature. And if a revolution doesn't happen, then after a brief lashing out, the Sheep will just go back to grazing. Btw, Roger, my dogs slightly resent the way they're portrayed.

I would love to see you showcase some Syd Barrett Pink Floyd. It is completely different but still amazingly Pink Floyd! Maybe "Paintbox" an amazing upbeat song.. or "Remember a day"

Das komplette Album half mir sehr oft in Paraleelwelten zu entfliehen, warum entfliehen? In den 70`-ern wurde ich von den Kommunisten stark verfolgt und zweimal inhaftiert wergen meiner Überzeugung.

Great job Aileen! Thank you for again giving a good listen to the albums and songs out there. I would venture.. Wish you Were Here next from Pink Floyd. Look up the concept of it and why.. then listen to it.. you will love it being in the fringes of the music industry like you are.

Animals is my favorite album to listen to complete from start to end, it's almost like one giant song. Fun fact On the 8 track tape version of Animals there is a short guitar solo not found on any other version, with the way 8 track tapes work they needed to connect Pigs on the Wing Part 1 and Part 2 together. Just watched through a bunch of your reaction vids, keep up the great work!

Rick Wright really carried so much of the transitions between those memorable motifs throughout this entire album and here on sheep he shows remarkable variety within a single piece.

Hello Aileen. It’s Pink Floyd, what else is there to say!!!!! Masterpiece album for sure 👍🏻. It’s a great feeling when a band puts you in a “twilight zone” kind of mood!!!! Great analogy there in your analysis. Gilmore is coming to LA in October. Looking into seeing one of his shows here. Keep up the great content with your reactions. 😉😉😉…
