I remember when my dog use to not recognize himself in the mirror as a pup, I taught him about reflections by putting him in front of mirrors and placings things on his head he couldn't feel but could see on the other dogs head. The moment of realization on his face was priceless.

She doesn't know how it works, but she accepts it as something that just...is. So now she's used to it and just doesn't react.

Best I ever saw was when i was a kid we had 7 guinea fowl. We had a big dresser mirror sitting against the fence one day while it was being moved (taken to auction I think) and the guineas came along and spotted it. Six of them seemed to get the idea and were preening themselves and making soft cooing noises....the seventh was pecking it's reflection and screaming at it XD Apparently one had self-image issues.

The house in which I grew up had wild guinea fowl running around outside, and they used to jump onto my car, to look at themselves in the windows, they never damaged the car, not that I could see. But I used to park away from the ledge they used to use to jump from, so they could not make the jump anymore, knowing they can't fly! We also had a cross-labrador, which chased the guinea fowl once.... until it stopped and turned!! I can still see the dog now, making an emergency stop, locking up all four disc brakes and running back to me!
