When I started to try and keyframe I never ever realised that after moving (like in this case) a NEW keyframe was automatically added but instead added the new one myself, causing nothing to ever work. Lots of bad words were said back then. Thank you so much for this tut. Love what you do. 👍🏻

Ah! Yes those tricky keyframes can cause some issues if you don't make them in the right spot!

Very good thank you! But what about making the text bigger and at the same time moving it to another part of the screen?
@BenjaminHalsall9 ай бұрын
There are a few ways of doing this. I would set the type location etc where I wanted it to finish and then keyframe and move back to where I wanted to start the animation. Also, I setup a quiz based on some of my recent FCP videos. Would love it it you checked it out - benhalsall.com/moodle/course/view.php?id=18

is there a way to save the animation added as a saved preset / template? i can only seem to save Appearance, not any motion/animation of text. thanks

How would I shrink the text as it moves left to right? The effect is to get the text to disappear down a plughole. Thanks.

Hi. This was an easy way to master key framing for text. Thank you for that:) One question though: When my text slides inn, it bounce too hard in the last splitt second before it coms to place. Can this be fixed? (I am from Norway and hope I have used right words).

the only problem I'm having when doing this is that the latter half of my animation is appearing before animating off-screen. don't know what's causing it

Nice tips! Thanks! Do you know if FCP has a way to more precisely manipulate the keyframes so you can change the ease in and ease out like you can in Premiere? I think FCP only gives the choice of linear or smooth, but keep hoping that I'll find a way to control the smooth better ;^)

In FCP 10.6.1 timeline, what is the difference between yellow and white highlighted clips? (I'm unable to find an answer for this) Also, on the white highlighted clip I do not hear audio. I thought maybe it was because it contained key frames.
@BenjaminHalsall3 жыл бұрын
Clips are normally highlighted white when you click away from the timeline. If you click back to the timeline then selected clips should have that yellow outline again.

@@BenjaminHalsall Thanks for the quick reply, Ben. Ultimately found out I had unintentionally 'soloed' all the other clips which caused both issues. Thanks for posting about FCP on your channel. I like brief and succinct tutorials.

@@jwilly7819 thanks for letting me know the solution you found. That is super useful. Did you figure it out yourself or find a video that helped you?

As always, great video! That last tip about using a shape mask to highlight the text was excellent! I always have troubles finding an easy way to create text inside a box. I haven't found any good plugins. Usually I add the shape generator and animate it separately. I'll try the shape mask like you did. Do you live close to the beach that was in the video? I am not too far away from there! Thank for all your helpful videos!

I think this may help... kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXrIi4Kih7iYlbc I show how to make the plugin but also there is a link to a free version of the type-inside-frame plugin for you to download too. Let me know if this is what you were looking for.
