Here are a few problems I have with the show: 1. Aren't the girls supposed to be 5? If they're in first grade then they should be about 6 which makes sense, but all the other kids look and act like they're at least 12. 2. Elementary schools don't have lockers! I don't know why animators keep doing that. News flash, only middle and high schools have lockers, and if they wanted the girls in middle school then age them to be 12. 3. Why do the all girls suddenly have Green Lantern powers? In the original when Blossom suddenly got freeze breath and Bubbles revealed that she could speak Spanish that made sense since it was apart of the chemical X mutation, and it made them more unique beyond their personalities. Now they can all do the same thing it makes them more boring. 4. The action is so watered down it makes 1980 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles look like The Bourne Identity. 5. What made the original so good is it focused less on the girls' personal lives and more on their superhero aspects. Let's face it there aren't much interesting things to taken about school other than how much it sucks. If I wanted to see a young girl with super powers endure the awkwardness of school while fighting crime on the side I'd watch My Life as a Teenage Robot. 6. Did the new writers even look into Ms. Bellum's character at all? She was basically the voice of reason and the girl's mentor. Her own name was to emphasize how she was the brains of Townsville. Yet because her body type was a parody of the "sexy assistant" the creators decided that she was not a good influence for kids, while at the same time showing a new female villain with bigger hips than Jessica Rabbit and representing every negative female stereotype worse than Seduca. 7. That's another thing where the fuck are all the good villains? Another thing about the Power Puff Girls is they had an vast and amazing Rouge's Gallery. 8. 2:57 It would be amazing if they did an episode on how Ms. Keane doesn't have breasts because had breast cancer and it was so sever that she had to get a double mastectomy. That would be the perfect serious issue to address considering this show aims towards girls. It also would teach kids how people who are strong aren't just the one's who can lift a truck with one finger. 9. Also apparently there's a new Powerpuff Girl. Yup, they're officially going Fairly Odd Parents. Thinking that adding a new character will save their dying show.

One thing EVERYONE that loved bunny including me absolutely HATE and I mean HATE Bliss the only this similar to BUNNY is the fact that they both wear purple! you know what..... NONE of the original Girls were remotely contacted to reprise their roles or even inform them they weren't doing it. Sorry about that."

From Wikipedia: "The recasting of the main characters came to the sadness of Cavadini, Daily, and Strong-the latter of whom, on Twitter, called it "a stab in the heart". She had announced after the upfront in February that this was a "strictly creative" decision by the network, though in June of the same year said that the network had never contacted either her or Cavadini and Daily prior to the decision to recast." Who knows why they weren't contacted while other voice actors like Tom Kenny and Tom Kane were allowed to reprise their roles? All I can think of is that they wanted "fresh new faces" or something. And while I completely understand why they SHOULD be thankful for not being a part of a crappy new show, I also think that if the voice actresses were allowed to reprise their roles, they would at least keep SOME originality of their original character, such as the case with Teen Titans Go. With new voice actors, they are all completely different people in a sense if you know what I mean. Just my opinion.

Nickelodeon is trying so desperately to appeal to the younger audience, that it's actually sickening. Using Vine terms and slang, it's the most annoying thing on the planet. Not to mention the downright poorly made shows with absolutely no plot. cartoon executives are often pretty old, like over 50, so many of them are out of touch with kids today. it doesnt help that our pop culture is moving and evolving at a faster and faster rate so in a matter of a year something can go from a cool new fad to burned out joke whereas 20 years ago that process would take at least a few years, plenty of time to catch on and make it into the next season of a show. They could avoid that whole out of touch humor by sticking to the more retro style of the old show but unfortunately when you're devoid of creativity it's easier to just try and cram in as many pop culture refrences as possible and hope something sticks.

I don't want to defend Nick Jennings' choice to remove her, but I believe that the message he wanted to send to kids, the message that was *barely implied* by him removing her from the new show, is that we should look at women's faces and not just their bodies. I would have defended him recasting the 4 main little girl characters (4 because I counted Morbucks) with younger, less-experienced actors if he was considerate enough to tell their original voice actors ahead of time, instead of breaking their hearts and leaving them out when Jennifer Hale, Tom Kane, Tom Kenny, Jim Cummings and Roger L. Jackson still got to reprise other characters from the original Powerpuff Girls series. Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li and Natalie Palamides all watched the original Powerpuff Girls as children, and I know they loved getting to voice the girls in the reboot, but I can't shake the feeling that maybe they felt guilty about poaching the original actors' jobs without the casting director of the reboot giving the original actors a choice to come back. Ms Bellum was based on a joke that no matter how competent, intelligent or articulate some women are, they'll still only be seen for their bodies, so the producers thought it over that believed that this wasn't a good message to be sending the young girls watching the show. I can understand that, so what are the MANY ways you could address this? Well you could flesh out Bellums character so she's has a lot more going for her than just a running gag. Maybe you could make an episode where it's revealed that she has some secret hobby or talent that no one would expected her to have, Like she's really into football, or she's also a scientist. Thus giving kids the message that people can surprise you and you shouldn't judge what a person might know or like based on how they look. Maybe you could give her a cool backstory, like when she was young she was a crime fighter, or a villain and the girls find out. you could even do a funny joke where Bellum explains she quit fighting after her face got scared, and once again we don't see the face, but everyone comments that they didn't want to ask what happened to her. Maybe you STILL want her to leave the show, then maybe make a story where she has had enough of people only noticing her body and she quits, Everyone learns their lesson and apologizes to her. She accepts but still decides to leave because better oppertunities have opened up for her outside of townsville. What pisses me off is that they DON'T address the message at at all. They just give her a weak send off and done. This is a character whose been around since the beginning. It's not like she was only in 1 or 2 episodes. Whatever messages she's sent to kids, it's out there and has been out there for years. If you think this issue is important enough that you feel the need to axe a character whose been around for years, then ADDRESS IT!

What people wanted was Samurai Jack (which we'll be getting on Adult Swim, apparently) Teen Titans (which did come back but not in the way people wanted) and Mega XLR and Sym-biotic Titan whom will never come back.

Honestly, I see absolutely no reason for this show to exist. There are so many other CN shows that deserves a revival like Courage or Kids Next Door. Those shows still had more to tell and didn't go through seasonal rot at all. The Powerpuff Girls not only had six seasons, but they also had 2 specials AND a theatrical movie. So why do they get all the attention?! I just don't get it!

The teacher not having boobs kinda reminds me of when I was in kindergarten/first grade, and we had 8th grade "buddies" that would come in and do activities with us every month. On one occasion the little kids had to draw their buddy and write what they knew about them, and since mine was an older girl and had breasts, I added them to the drawing. But my buddy told me that the teacher would get mad and say it was inappropriate. I remember asking "Why? You have them." And her laughing and saying that didn't matter. I was actually super confused as a kid as to why that would be weird, so the Powerpuff Girls removing the normal female bits off a character probably would've struck me as strange too if i was young and saw it. It's not weird for an older female character to have breasts.

"By having grown-up humor, you make it more childish. By modernizing the dialogue, you make it more dated. And by changing the source material, you show how much you don't respect what's already perfect." "[The Powerpuff Girls Reboot] sucks in capturing the spirit of [The Powerpuff Girls]. Instead of being poetic, it panders to the mainstream. Instead of having it speak to everyone, it paints extremes that alienates the truth of the story. And instead of being dark and subtle, it knocks you on the head with its message, ironically making it far less memorable. People aren't gonna be coming back because you gave them nothing that shows you respect them as thinking people. You simplified it, made it easy. So easy that nobody finds it fun anymore. I don't care how many [shit reboots] you make, how popular they are for the moment, or how often you keep missing the spirit of these great stories, because no matter what you do, people are always gonna keep returning to the [shows of our childhood]. Go watch some anime, and you'll see elementary/grade school aged kids do a LOT worse than just "twerking". In Card Captor Sakura, this one girl has a romantic attraction to her school teacher, who's like 25 to 30 years old I'm guessing. And I've heard from anime fans (though I've not read it myself) that the manga (comic book) version of Card Captor Sakura implies that the teacher also has a similar attraction to said student.

Seeing what they did to Bellum and Keen I knew instantly "Oh, someone on the staff was one of those, so far left they're right, people." as in someone who's so liberal, their ideas become conservative like going off screen and appearing on the other side in an old Atari game. For example "Women can do anything now, so the secretary shouldn't be a woman." and "Women shouldn't be sexualised just for their appearance, so take away all the boobs cuz they're perverted and unnatural!" at least that's how I interpreted it. I know that's probably not the case but that's what it looks like from my end.
@47ratsinahoodie4 жыл бұрын
No, I think that's the case. I'm all for gender equality and the stopping of objectification of females but getting rid of a curvy character who is otherwise smart and badass is fucking idiotic. The show depicted more of Bellum being smart and strong than sexy. She was a great role model for girls. I wanted to be just like her when I was little. Obviously, I now know her physical appearance wasn't possible but kid me didn't.

(17:20) It's not just that Tara Strong did the voice for Bubbles; she has respect for that role. @dr.altoclef92556 жыл бұрын
You could easily make that episode work. Combine it with Mr. Enter's suggestions, basically we get Buttercup bored of work and wondering why they can't just goof off and party all the time. Allegro has the same ideas. Like, Allegro notes that everyone's happy and enjoying themselves, but eventually people are getting sick of the partying, and since no one's working, the party's sorta dying out. They're running out of snacks because no one's cooking food, no one's farming, no one's delivering...there's no music because the musicians aren't working, etc, and eventually it leads to the realization that while it may not be fun sometimes, you have to work so you can enjoy your efforts. Have to pay the piper, or whatnot.

I heard the reason why the movie flopped was because a lot of people didn't see it due to being too embarrass for going to see "girly" movie. Yes I'm aware the show being violent and awesome, but a lot of people back then were afraid of a prejudice saying it's a movie for girls even though the majority of the fans are actually male. I actually find it interesting because while people didn't the see the powerpuff girls movie because of the prejudice, we have a huge fanbase that not just say they like a show for girls, but are proud of it (A.K.A the bronies). When the My Little Pony movie came out, the bronies didn't feel embarrassed for seeing the show and they get out and see it for themselves, unlike the powerpuff girls fans. That shows a pretty good indicator how much our society had change within the past decade.
@birdcar78088 жыл бұрын
Allende Pacheco Wasn't the show actually made for both genders? I'm pretty sure the reason Craig McCracken made the movie extra action-packed was because he noticed that the Powerpuff products were aimed more at girls, so he made the movie to try to balance out the viewers a little more.

I always felt that in a weird way the PPG was about young women going through that weird time when you want to be older, and it was more about how they saw the world, or rather what adult-hood is, rather then sexualizing and stereotyping. The breasts on the adults was more like a kid who wants to shave with his dad, because its what adults do. They delt with villains but they were mostly metaphors for becoming an adult. Him episodes were about dealing with fear and crushing doubt and Femme Fatial was about owning your sexuality and breaking stereotypes.

Funny thing about Horn Sweet Horn: Even after all that controversy, all that kerfuffle over whether or not the episode misrepresented or even insulted transgender people with its allegory, the wroter straight up said it was never actually meant to be an allegory for trans rights! Turns out the whole time it was just CN marketing the episode that way to garner controversy and people talking about the episode.
@insulttothehumanrace38076 жыл бұрын
@Christopher Millian The episode itself, nothing. The controversy was execs/marketing people trying to cash in on the sociopolitical climate by claiming the episode was an allegory for being transgender, when the writers weren't trying to do anything like that.
@insulttothehumanrace38076 жыл бұрын
@Christopher Millian 2: Transgenders are people who switch their gender identity at some time in their life. 1. and 2: What's bad here is people who talk about certain topics, or make certain plots/characters, in an attempt to make profit; "virtue signalling", as it is said. In this instance, capitalizing on rising transgender awareness/discussions by having an episode (or, in this case, claiming to have an episode) about the topic, not for the sake of actually having a serious discussion on the matter, but as a way to get higher ratings and more popularity. Having an episode talking about transgenders isn't inherently bad; what was wrong in this case was that the writers weren't trying to make such an episode, but the execs claimed it was -- false advertising, basically. 3. I haven't followed them closely, but I would hope they've learned their lesson.

But isn't the maker of the Ben 10 reboot is the same guy who made the original Ben 10 series AKA Man of Action? Also to answer your question, a company want new people to become fans so they can make more revenue. To Cartoon Network, their new would-be-fans are young kids and are trying to appeal them by making the shows more "modern."
@319Schum8 жыл бұрын
Allende Pacheco But then why not just make a new show targeted at the next generation? Like for Teen Titans Go they could have have the same set up with original characters and given them wacky powers for the random humor of the show. The Titans don't add anything to Teen Titans Go, but Teen Titans Go devalues the original property and cartoon network's credibility.
@allendepacheco34198 жыл бұрын
Now that I don't know how to answer. People make reboots because they want to update a good story for the younger demographic and having a belief of making it "better", and there's a few that want to add a twist to the reboot. The creator of TTG possibly want to make a "parody" of the original, but we know how that goes. Maybe the executives don't know what would happen and like the TTG when watching the short (since the shorts are not as bad as the actual episodes). Unless one of them can see the future, the executives or whoever greenlit the show didn't knew what will happen with the next few years.
@seanmyster68 жыл бұрын
"But then why not just make a new show targeted at the next generation?" I can answer that, from the perspective of whichever network hacks keep crapping out these lousy reboots: Because that would mean trying new things and taking risks, and why do that when we can just piggy-back on the name and likeness of an already popular franchise and have a guaranteed audience? Also, who cares if we end up pissing off the fans who liked previous renditions of said franchise by making our new version more "lowest common denominator"; at least we got their attention, right? We'll just say "It's not for you, it's for the new generation", despite the fact that by rebooting an existing franchise, we're obviously trying to capitalize on its prior success, which the old fans played a role in making happen in the first place; and our new fans will defend us by accusing the old fans of being "nostalgia-blind" and "unwilling to accept change"; and thus, we become a financial success without having to put forth any real creativity, thought, or effort. Oh, did I mention the part about prioritizing toy sales over quality entertainment? That's VERY important.

Actually, no they don't. Ecstasy targets the hippocampus in a very specific way, ramping up the pleasure center and inhibiting the impulse control of the recipient; children who have not yet undergone puberty haven't yet developed the separation matrices or neural pathways that one would need to get the beneficial effects of the drug. Quite literally, ecstasy can't increase a child's libido or inhibit their impulse control because they _don't have those things yet._ Of course, that's not saying there is no effect, the drug would make them very, very ill and lead to temporary or permanent organ failure and/or body spasms, but they won't get high off of it.

I didn't like the intro at first, but it actually grew on me, mainly because it's much better animated than the actual show.

I like the animation of it, but god damn I seriously fucking hate the lyrics of it. Like I don't even know why, it's nothing to do with nostalgia its just REALLY BAD to me. For the end credits though it's not the worst? Though everyone usually says the opposite o3o
@SirBroadsword8 жыл бұрын
Goat Senpai By no means the worst, no. The lyrics are very tryhard and unnatural, but the intro still has good instrumentation and good animation, so it has two out of three boxes ticked. Ergo, it can't remotely be considered to be among the worst cartoon themes ever, IMO.
@goatsenpaii8 жыл бұрын
***** Agree. I just personally hate it more than others, as the animation is incredibly lazy (The amount of animation errors this show has is remarkable, especially with so many so obvious, like a dOG JUST SUDDENLY DISAPPEARING IN ONE SHOT?!?! Cause that happened), and it tries to ride off of what should be important movements- not because they actually give a shit, but because its what the (uneducated) tumblrinas want. It's just gone hollow :P

This will be ironic that this will be the only LEGIT crossover "T.i.N.O." will do (I don't count "Let's Get Serious" as one, as Young Justice was cancelled 2 or so years BEFORE this episode aired, and was an excuse to mouthpiece the whole "Teen Titans are serious" fallacy... and "Truth, Justice, and What?" because they intentionally used a generic style for the 'young, cool-ish, mutated, karate turtle dudes' so the creators wouldn't get sued.)

@AlluMan968 жыл бұрын
Oh, bland villains are fucking trademarked to anime. Seriously, you can't move 2 steps without finding the most dis-interested cookie-cutter of a mean face to represent an anime's antagonist. Even among my trinity of favourite anime, all 3 have pretty weak or underplayed villains. EVA never truly established a consistant entity, the villany being more like a force of nature that humanity has to survive, with Seele's and Gendo's agendas so distant to second that you might as well not even count it. Gurren Lagann barely put much emphesis on it's villains aside from a slight arc for Viral, it was so dedicated to it's main cast. Cowboy Bebop was propably the worst at it, only occasionally having a villain that actually gripped my attention like the kid from Sympathy for the Devil or Tongpu and our closest to a final boss, Vicious, was a fucking dry breadstick of a character.

Honestly, I think that the reboot is worse than Teen Titans Go!. I don't like TTG, but you can say that it has it's own identity, does what it sets out to do(even if it is as shallow and bitter as pissing people off) and does less to cater to the crowd by being what it thinks is cool today. It's barely been out, and it looks to me like it has less dignity as the Fairly Oddparents currently has. To me, TTG would be the troll while PPG(2016) is the useful idiot. 13:37 Mr. Enter, the punches that felt like slight taps, as well as the removal of Ms. Bellum and Ms. Keen’s breasts was because the crew need to appease the moral guardians(Karens) to prevent them from whining about the “violence and sexual overtones” despite twerking being in Powerpuff Girls 2016 which caused major backlash(I’m not going into details of one of the writers who wrote Painbow, cuz that might get this comment taken down by KZbin bots; I’ll still talk about the revival’s infamy in a live stream besides another part in the stream where I’d talk to one out of the main actresses for the girls specifically Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup about some writers that were actually perverted and asked if they didn’t know that until now).

This explanation is a bit of an ass-pull, but my best guess for why the girls were not affected by the rainbow was that its influence is a low level effect, which is strong enough for any normal citizen. Allegro's very presence is the second level, assumed because of how Bubbles reacted. His attack is the third level, strong enough to pierce through Blossom's resistance. There are still some flaws in it, mostly because they are only based on what I have seen through reviews that reference this episode. I imagine if I saw the series more, or at least more episodes, if any, that include Allegro, I could better analyze his Ecstasy-inducing powers. As of now, this is the perspective of an outsider, and I don't think my recollections of the original series can help me on this.

In the original, they were 5-6 years old (i say 6 because they had at least 1 "birthday" episode) Because they're smaller than their peers, I would see them passing as first or even second graders (but then how old are their friends?) I could see Bubbles still doing childish things like bringing Octy to school or having a thing for unicorns. For their ages, Bubbles acted the girls age/younger (about 3-4), Buttercup acted at just about the normal age(4-6), and Blossom acted a lot older (6-8)
