DaCableGuy That is wrong on so many levels. This movie is not Where The Dead Go To Die. It's just something that is one of the biggest punching bags in all of cinema for little reason.
@critica77y775 жыл бұрын
So little reason? This is the (Everything I Do) I Do It For U of movies. This movie practically puts effort into its laziness. It’s trying as hard as possible to do nothing at all. While WTDGTD may be worse, I at least think it has more of a right to exist than The Advertisement Movie. In my opinion, this is the furthest that a movie can be from being enjoyable. It’s not remotely entertaining, and it’s not even interesting in its awfulness. This is by far the most worthless film I’ve seen in my life, and one of only a few pieces of media that legitimately offends me.
@christopherwallace79035 жыл бұрын
Critica 77y Okay. I admit that "little reason" is false. I get that. I know why this movie is hated. Heck, I hate this movie myself. But the problem is, the reactions this movie gets is, I'll say it and I'll say it again: This hatred is worse than the movie itself. It's been over a year now. We can put this movie to rest. It needs to fade into oblivion, where it belongs. When I heard that this was going to be a thing I thought it was a joke. I wish it was... but by far the worst thing to come out of this movie is everyone's response to it.
@critica77y775 жыл бұрын
I can see where you’re coming from, but I still have to disagree. This movie deserves all of the hate that it gets, because it’s the logical conclusion of soulless product placement being passed off as “entertainment.” This movie is the most generic thing in the history of anything ever, and I hate it for it. I don’t want it to be forgotten. I want it to be regarded by all future filmmakers as a warning of what not to do.
@nathanwright85206 жыл бұрын
Eggplant (probably accidentally) actually has a kind of decent joke - at the start of the movie when Alex is single and too nervous to talk to his crush, Eggplant is in the loser lounge. At the end of the movie, after alex gets the girl, Eggplant is front and centre as a "most used" emoji. Again, this was probably done by accident, but still.

Nathan Wright what the joke
@nathanwright85206 жыл бұрын
The eggplant emoji is commonly used in sexting, since it looks like a penis.
@Foxflarep6 жыл бұрын
I guarantee that it was accidental beyond the shadow of a doubt. It was placed in the loser lounge either because the film makers thought it was a dumb looking emoji or because they don't think a 14 year old would be capable of innuendo. Later it was featured front and center entirely because it had been in the loser lounge in the beginning.

I know it's rather sad to say this, but I have, in fact, thought of a way to make the movie a fair bit more palatable. Rather than having the other residents of Textopolis bash Gene for having emotions, Gene bashes himself for not being able to keep a neutral expression on his way to the first day on the job. When he gets to the work place, he should eventually come across Smiler, who, while still a villain paranoid that Gene's going to get them terminated due to his screwup, she initially starts by displaying no ill will towards Gene's screwup. And rather that having Gene absolutely panic, he instead gets called on and inadvertently wears a rather smug expression, rather than the meh expression that was asked of him. Alex sends the message and is paranoid when his crush glares daggers into him. He is initially comforted by everyone, including Smiler, who even notes that he's going to get another shot when Alex sends another message to correct his typo. And then he screws it up by wearing a face of paranoia. Everyone panics when class starts and Alex mutters that he needs to get his phone looked at. The emojis take 40 and a meeting is held with the most prominent emojis, including Devil, hold a meeting to discuss what to do. Poop convinces Smiler to fire Gene, making a pun about going down the drain while Devil convinces Smiler to fear a factory reset. The entirety of Textopolis goes into panic and it's disguised with a mandatory update that Alex can't cancel. Gene takes responsibility and banishes himself to the loser lounge. THERE he meets Hi-5, who Gene confides in and Hi-5 attempts to comfort him. Gene tells him he doesn't care until Hi-5 mentions that he knows someone who's helped him out with a similar problem. Rather that going into a piracy app they tear apart a hyperlink from an old text and access the phone's very OS, where Jailbreak hides. With a little bit of strongarming and appealing to reason from Hi-5 Jailbreak concedes and joins our misfits. They need to go to Candy Crush, but not because it's a plot point. Gene and Hi-5 are also confused, as the audience should be, but Jailbreak promises it'll make sense. Eventually the team makes it out and accesses Candy Crush, which is on the same screen as the text app when Alex shut down the phone at the beginning of school. They again have to play the game, but rather than Hi-5 having a montage, it's Gene who manages to work his way to the bottom. He initially played the game accidentally while panicking about his situation, flailing in a desperate gambit to get out of the grid. He notices the fact that he descended eventually and manages to get a grip, working his way down by calling the shots. Meanwhile, in the real world, rather than anything being said by Alex as he tries to silence his shaking phone he silently catches it, silences it and looks around the class, sinking in his seat at the twenty pairs of eyes - although to Alex it looks like 100 pairs - digging into his soul. He silently sinks in his seat and grabs a pink slip from his teacher. He has detention now. Eventually Gene manages to escape in a similar method, but he actually drops to the bottom of the screen and squeezes out the bottom, as the game recognizes him as an ingredient, rather than a candy. They all backtrack down the path, eventually making it to the main menu. Jailbreak hotwires the King logo on the main menu to take them to the store page, which will take them to the app store, which will put them closer to the settings. Gene and Hi-5 show admiration, causing Jailbreak to blush. Eventually they make it to the app store, where they get attacked on all sides by cheesy, schlocky, bad apps and Gene uses Hi-5 to invoke Grievous Harm With a Body to bat them away, leaving the likes of Black Tiger and Baby Hazel to fall to the bottom of the metaphoric/literal barrel. When they get to the settings, they realize that the Spotify app is still consuming data, which is keeping them from fixing Gene's code without the phone's OS locking them out. Fortunately, not only is Spotify on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, meaning it can be accessed from anywhere, but it's rather easy to get it to stop from inside the app. Not so much from settings; the layout Jailbreak doesn't recognize. Anyway, they head down to the app while Hi-5 attempts to navigate the settings from where he stands to find where he can get it to stop. He's almost there before one of Smiler's drones grab him from the back and drag him back to Textopolis. When they get to Spotify they once again have to ride down a river of a song, but rather than it being generic whale noises it's "Unwell" by Matchbox 20. The most recent song to be favorited by Alex. Initially distracted by the jangly music, the Genius annotations come up and tell them what the song is truly about. Jailbreak doesn't care while Gene is horrified. Eventually they manage to shut down Spotify's data consumption and return to the settings app, where they notice that Hi-5 is missing. A drone left behind gives them a message from Smiler telling them they want Gene to come back and answer for endangering the phone. Gene, panicking, decides to rush back towards Textopolis, dragging Jailbreak with him before she can even start making adjustments. When being dragged, Jailbreak asks a single question that makes Gene stop in his tracks, inadvertently flinging Jailbreak into the app. "What exactly did you want me to do to you?!" Gene sits outside of the app for a moment, contemplating what he was asked. Meanwhile Jailbreak also gets captured, but Gene doesn't notice because he's too busy piecing everything together. Alex was all the way at level 100 in Candy Crush. Alex's contact list contained a stolen number. Alex was too afraid to speak up to defend himself. Alex's favorite songs included "Unwell", "Whatsername" and "Closer" by Nine Inch Nails. "Alex is being hindered by us," he realizes. "if not his very phone." Gene rushes back into the app to explain that they were never helping Alex, but he stops when he notices Smiler staring him down, Hi-5 and Jailbreak held in the clutches of the drone. His words are caught in his mouth, he's unable to tell them that Alex has been slowly damaging himself. Instead he simply confesses that "Alex... Alex needed me..." Smiler nods in victory and drops Hi-5 and Jailbreak, explaining that all three of them, while not banned from the texting app cannot enter the building ever again. The three of them walk down the street, mulling over how everything they worked for was for nothing. Until Jailbreak gets a suicidal idea. Break in late at night and send a message to Alex's crush behind his back, telling her that Alex might need to sever ties with him. Gene tells Jailbreak off, saying how they've been massive hinderances to Alex's ability to function as a person. Meanwhile in the real world, Alex has been poking away at his phone, wondering why he can't get any sort of cell service. He calls the store and arranges for them to look at it via bumming his crush's phone, who is kind enough to let him do so. When he hands her the phone back Alex pauses and realizes it's the first he's ever actually spoken to her with words from his mouth. He chases her down afterwards and propose they hang out. She agrees, but Alex still wants to take his phone to get looked at. The entire phone is out of a job for a couple of days due to the fact that the phone needs to be taken in and have its menu navigated - which sets up a joke that all Alex needed to do was turn the phone off and on again, full shutdown - but when the lights come back on everyone is confused that Alex isn't using them. Only Gene, Hi-5 and Jailbreak - who has gone back into hiding - know the truth. It turns out that using the phone's actual phone functionality has been enough for Alex and his crush, as it pans out from the app, the screen, then the phone, to show the two talking about the recent movie that came out about those dogs in the apartment complex. Roll credits.

But for technologies in science, I know that emojis are not sentient or it was just a malfunction but the theory behind the emoji movie was just in Alex's point of view and none of the movies happened. Maybe Sony just manipulated the story about Alex's problem (a minor problem) or like The Game Theory said, it was just illegal to make sponsorships between FCC or any sponsorship governments, etc. For me, in my perspective view, maybe the little Emoji wanted to be famous because we tap so hard on this poor Emoji and become very infamous in medias history. But sadly, the Emoji went depressed after the movie was released due to poor reviews and killed the movie itself.

Every way Ralph Breaks the Internet is better than The Emoji Movie: 1) Traveling through product placements does not ruin the plot's chance of being good, and they actually help progress the plot. 2) It found a better way to mock princess stereotypes, and their presence has a purpose in the climax. 3) Less annoying characters with a meaningful emotional conflict. 4) Doesn't spend too much time on characters who add nothing and meaningless subplots. 5) A great lesson on overcoming insecurity of other friends' dreams. 6) No twist villain! And the bond between Ralph and Vanellope is truly heartfelt and you want them to succeed in their quest. With the Emoji movie, it lacks that. I wonder if this movie would have been better if Alex was the focus. Like he had a personality, and the majority of the movie was him kind of having his life messed up because his phone keeps doing weird shit, with each weird thing explained by a sub plot of these incompetent emojis going through his phone for some good reason. Like a scene of him failing a big project because he couldn't access his Dropbox due to being locked out for failed password attempts, shortly after the scene where they try to get into his Dropbox. Or Candy Crush, which would be a generic unbranded game in a decent movie, for that matter Dropbox would be an unbranded Cloud storage app, starting up and making a lot of noise during class and getting him sent to detention All culminating in him going for a factory reset while jean does his whole multi Emoji thing, and the factory reset sticks and everything is deleted, but Alex has a nice resolution because that last emoji does end up getting him the girl.

*+TrollDragon98* First off, "Animated Genocide." There's a joke about the protagonist's name being Gene in there somewhere. Second... "...the worse possible act committed by a human being, multiply it by cancer, and that's this movie." I'm certain that there're worse movies than this out there. Just look up Where the Dead Go to Die. That makes this movie look like The Room in terms of enjoyment. Mr. Enter has even stated that he won't review it because it's too bad to be labeled an Animated Atrocity. By the way, how does one multiply by cancer? Excuse me for a moment while I talk to my third-grade teacher. I'm legitimately curious as to how cancer fits in the world of mathematics.
@superduperisaac6 жыл бұрын
Silver Scale Simple, one must find the numerical equivalent of the pure awfulness that is cancer and add it to the numerical equivalent of the different levels of awfulness that each stage of cancer has, in this case it would be stage 5. So basically 5c+c= 5c^2×H= infinity. Solve for C and H. Its simple 1st grade calculus, so I expect an answer by tomorrow morning, show your work.

The thing about Smiler is, she's the "Twist villain" cliche at its absolute worst, mainly because her turning out to be evil wasn't really much of a twist (For the audience, at least) at all. Her creepy smile stuck on her face gave her a sinister feel right from the start (And this is coming from someone who, mercifully enough, never saw the movie: Just the preview footage and whatnot). It would be like if Hans from 'Frozen' (Who, despite what Mr. Enter said in his 'Worst cliches' video, I found to be a good villain: His revelation as a villain came as a genuine shock to me when I first saw the film in theaters, then on repeated viewings, it became more and more clear what a scheming sociopath he was, manipulating everyone) wore a black cape, had a curly mustache that he liked twirling a lot with his finger, and a nefarious "Nyah- hah- hah- hah" laugh right from when we first see him.

Dustin Freeman, according to the 'Villains Wiki' page for her and a couple clips I saw, Hi-5 and Jailbreak disable the Anti- Virus Bot, causing it to fall on Smiler and seemingly crush her. In a mid- credits scene, we see that she in fact survived, though her teeth were fractured. She's wearing heavy braces over her teeth and playing cards with a couple other emojis in the "Loser Lounge." So, a lame defeat/ resolution for a lame villain.

It could have turned out a lot better if it had legitimately likable characters and a good motivation plot. Wreck it Ralph wasn't shy about its obvious video game tie-ins, the trailers overemphasized that aspect, but what really makes the movie is Ralph and later Vanellope and their struggle to be accepted in their perspective game worlds. Video Game based Movies tend to suck more often than not because they rely too much on the video games aspect and try to cheaply appeal to nostalgia. Wreck it Ralph was trying to tell a good story, and just so happened to have popular franchise characters in the background. You could remove them and the movie wouldn't be too different simply because it's their original characters that drive the plot forward and the ones you'll remember.

I'm no technological genius, but if Alex's phone is glitching and he's the most typical teen in existence, wouldn't he Google how to fix it first? Maybe uninstall the more problematic apps? (There are plenty of games exactly like and even better than candy crush that he could replace it with, or he could just leave a bad review and go without) Also, and maybe this is just me, but wouldn't a person back up their data and do a factory reset first? I mean, he literally went to the genius bar for them to do a factory reset. If he googled how to solve his problem (like most teens would) then someone somewhere would have suggested that. Actually, he should have started with restarting his phone. Sometimes turning it off and on again can help. Guess Sony should have asked customer service for help while writing.
@poweroffriendship2.06 жыл бұрын
Zora-Twilight I wish at the end of the movie Alex left the phone from the store to solve the problem and let those living Emojis died in blackness, then one day later, he fixed the problem as he returned to the store and the phone resets and not a single living Emoji left. Instead of the original ending where Alex letting those Emojis live to party and start to work.

Would the movie be better if it actually was about Alex and how he uses Emojis than what we got with it being about the emojis themselves? Actually, I think it might have, they could have even made up a few new emojis for the film, maybe giving it the in-universe justification that Alex is a hobby programmer and made his own emojis to fill in the gaps of text communication, and then the studio could release the original emojis from the film as an IRL downloadable add-on to the standard texting app for marketing. I came up with that off the top my head. I remember there was a commercial that consisted of nothing but a guy's Google searches, and the searches heavily indicated a narrative of him going to Paris, meeting a pretty French woman, using translation apps to communicate, and eventually moving to Paric permanently, getting married, and having a baby. It was a sweet and touching commercial that both told a story and accurately advertised what the product does, the Emoji movie could have been a feature-length version of that, but it wasn't.

I've only watched rants about this movie because I refuse to watch the actual thing, but wouldn't the movie be better if the emojis had a wide range of vocal emotions but just looked like their emoji? Like, I've seen scenes of Gene's (I think that's how you spell his name) parents and they sound like "meh". I think it would have been more impactful to have his parents sound sad, happy, concerned, etc because then it would seem like their true selves are stuck within a shell of a being capable of only one expression. Nevermind, that would require Sony to actually put in effort..
