Thank you so much, I am still fighting for Octane over other, I love this render engine and do not want to replace it yet.

I couldnt see the custom pattern node mentioned at 1:39, even though I'm running the latest version of both C4D and Octane. These procedural texture nodes have been hidden under Octane's LiveDB for some reason, and according to Octane's manual they've been introduced to the node editor (quite clearly though, there are some issues with that). So if you can't see the node either, go to the Materials tab in your Octane Live Viewer window, open LiveDB, select OTOY > Procedural Textures > Effects and DRAG AND DROP the Particles effect from the LiveDB window into the node editor window for the material you're working on. Hope this can come in handy if anyone else is having this issue

A lot of times custom pattern are not visible becouse of small bug, what always works for me is closing Node Editor tab and opening it again, it always fix this issue for me. Its definitly common bug as well judging from amount of comments i had about it. Next time around you will encounter this issue, try my method, see if that works for you as well. Cheers!

You're a real blessing, thanks for the amazing content as always! I've been struggling with creating a specific material for a long time and I hope you can somehow help me. I need to make a shader with "diffraction grating"...like holographic foils, for example on a Yugioh or Pokemon card but I can't find any solution anywhere. I found an OSL Shader for Redshit but sadly it didn't work in Octane. Do you think there's any chance to somehow fake the effect? Thin film just doesn't look right:(
@NojsGraphics2 жыл бұрын
oooh nooo, not the diffraction granting, i've been searching for answers since almost begining of this channel, there is no proper way of doing it, only weak fake results, which needs like normals etc to have something to make thin film change. I write to support of Octane, and they said its not possible in Octane rn. If i find solution i will definitly upload it to youtube, cuz thats like my #1 goal rn for past few months.

I totally share your pain with this one! Funny enough i've been looking for answers so much, i even seen your video about your holographic shader in c4d.

What hdri are you using?

Hey! Its from GreyScaleGorilla, I like these the most cuz it's easy to switch to different hdri with plugin they have for c4d.
