Does the chromosome cycle between being fully condensed/packed/raveled and unraveled? It is amazing to imagine how the chromosome can “respool” itself without getting tangled. Thank you and nice video. 17:49

Yes chromosome is really dynamic it can take up all kind of conformation based on cell cycle stage

I just want know about continuity of chromatin. Is dna or chromatin a continuous throughout nucleus or they are separated into sections or fibres?
@animatedbiologywitharpan3 ай бұрын
Good question my friend. Chromatin is not continuous throughout the nucleus but organized into discrete regions. It exists in distinct chromosome territories, with further divisions into topologically associating domains (TADs). Chromatin dynamically shifts between euchromatin (transcriptionally active) and heterochromatin ( transcriptionally inactive) while being packaged into nucleosomes and compacted into higher-order structures.
@jacktravers5049Ай бұрын
Yes they are seperated, you have different chromosomes (a combination of dna, rna and proteins (histones)), a pair of each autsomal chromosome 22x2, and two sex chromosomes, X +X(women), or X +Y (men). There is a continuous strand of dna envoloping one sister chromatid ( the picture you usually see of the classic 'X' chromosome are two "sister" chromatids(one from each parent)side by side, anchored at the center. The position of dna within the jucleus has an effect. The silenced X chromosome or "barr body" is a trancriptionally inactive X chromosome belonging to women. It resides on the periphery of the nucleus. If you have ever precipitated dna, which isnt hard to do, you can see it consists of strands.

I suspect this inter chromosoom interacton is why certain translocations like t(8,14) are happening. The myc gene appears on chromosome 8 and the heavy chain on chomosome 14. Both are important and they maybe have a certain central position in the nucleus such that their rna can be easily made and transported out o fthe nucleus.
