man who wouldve thought a show concept thats straight out of a 14 yr old stoners mind would be a beautiful tale of humanity and redemption

No I honestly think the average 14 year old would just come up with the same copy and paste story of the teenager getting powers and fighting the bad old guy who also got powers, basically it becoming a shonen, this story... though still definitely coming from some stoner's LSD trip, still had originality and was very mature

@@utteero the writer for this manga was hiroya oku, he's definitely not 14, that was just a joke, but he's made some of the best manga/anime out there... seriously, there's multiple references to other series/anime in this show because of him, theres also the entire gantz poster in Ando's room, which is another hit anime that hiroya has made, if you like this you might also like gantz

@@cagneybillingsley2165 it make sense perfectly, remember that science took over and people started to believe there’s no God and no point in existence in general, with that said we exist because we happen to be and we want to exist because again it happen to be like that, what makes us still wanting as humans to exist are feelings, emotions, even tho we know there’s no point. So with that said he’s experiencing fate worse than death because he doesn’t feel alive and don’t have any emotions, just like a regular rock for example. He exist because he happen to be and he knows there’s no reason, except him killing people which helps him to feel at least something. If drugs help people to feel satisfaction, then it is killing for him. Just think that way.

Since the moment the dog was not hit by the UFO, I was fearing for its life, for I was emotionally invested in it. It was a blanket check for the creator to pull on the strings without losing anything else... And yet, they did not. They pulled the strings that truly mattered, and gave a great bittersweet ending... I wanted to criticise the antagonist for being inconsistent, flopping between 'kill whomever' and 'I shall never kill again'. But then again, it is not just random for story convinience, it is integral to the character. A monster for sure, but even a monster has loved ones. Tried to change, but was also addicted to that spark. A mass murder who tried his last shot at redemption... and missed. Which is in the end good for the story. Any other ending would lack the impact.

Yes, that's what we call a complex character more than just a 2D template or sub par 3D one like a lot of other shows have.
@MusicoftheDamned
@MusicoftheDamned 2 жыл бұрын
I haven't watched the series yet (but will try to now due to this two-parter reminding me _Inuyashiki_ existed), but I imagine it helps Shishigami's "inconsistency" that he's also literally a teenager trying to figure out what he wants like basically every other teenager (and person). That doesn't excuse his horrible actions at all of course, but after the random killings he stops doing after talking to his mother it about, he seems rather consistent about killing only in "retribution". Too bad his sense of "retribution" is wildly draconian and abstract in scope since it's pretty clear that he doesn't "get" people at all beyond the very, very few he can connect with in some way through all the emptiness. Honestly, he's pretty consistent; it's just that his motives come off as alien since he's so emotionally disconnected from most things and people. Those very traits that doom him to being such an isolated murderer are more consistent than a lot of character development I've seen unfortunately. In fact, it makes the seemingly few parts where he does have a genuine emotional reaction probably stand out as more of a gut punch, especially once you find out he also consistently seems incapable of lying since he just doesn't get other people at all. So if anything, then it is pretty great writing that they were able to write a seemingly sociopathic character who commits monstrous actions yet not only does so without making him cartoonishly evil or "just because" but also letting him somehow still have some sympathetic qualities that don't excuse him either.

It’s called psychosis, real killers in real life act the way the antagonist does hence how nonsensical it may at first seem. As you can tell they were not souless machines they were merely upgraded humans, therefor could still feel emotions and have a consciousness proven by the amount of tears they’ve been shedding and actions they have committed.

God, Inuyashiki is so great. Seeing an old man as an MC is so unique and the story is just so so good and even though Hiro feels like a mindless killer in the beginning but when you look deeper you see the reflection between the two characters and how they overlap yet how differently they are because of how they where raised and their experiences because of their age. Also, that ending is just one of the best and saddest.

Both of the machines are very relatable and humane - Ichirou is a desperate man and sees himself as insignificant, that after finding himself with a great power is striving to make the best of it and help people that has also been desperate. Shishigami is a fullfiled boy without a set path, that after finding himself with a great power is striving to make the best of it by ending the lives of people he deemed insignificant for fun. In the end, both of these machines are the most human, just in different circumstances and reasons. It feels like it's an analogy on the 2 true aspects of humanity.

I like how Shishigami is your anime psyco killer on surface, but written so good that he becomes more than this stereotype. He's a teenager nihilist, who's got superpowers and using them edgy and sadistic way, but everytime as soon as he getting something to hold on, to gave him humanity like saving his mother on a brink of a death or getting girlfriend he's turning to be good. He could be a good person if he had something giving more meaning to his existance. It's like a theme of this anime - what makes us feel human is making us human.

This is interesting, how the juxtaposition between Ichiro and Shishigami works. Ichiro had a family that had forgotten about him despite trying his hardest to provide the best for them, had spent his entire life working and serving other and his life was running very short due to cancer and despite all of that, he never gave up the kindness in his soul; Shishigami had a family, a friend and girl that loved him, he had spent his life just studying and hanging out and had a very long life ahead of him, yet he let the darkness taint and consume his heart. *Gratitude vs. Ingratitude towards life.* I can understand this story now, bonkers as the premise is. I have held up the belief for the longest time that _evil is the consequence of fear_ and that _good is_ the desire to the return of the primordial state of existence before human consciousness created fear _and the bravery to fight for it;_ As only man can consciously process fear and thus use their will to act upon it, creating evil as a consequence. This was a story between the most basic and pure paragons of what good and evil represent, _bravery and cowardice;_ hero vs. villain. As the villain was defeated and realized his efforts to change the natural order of the All-Consciousness will were rendered futile thanks to the hero, _the hero in the end put down his sword, and gave up the fight, for his quest was over._ While the villain was filled with resentment and let his fear increase the demands to release his anger, the hero held no grudges and let his bracery allow the villain to redeem himself, which was the only demand the hero had from the start. *Thanks for reading.* _Yes, I am writing a book on my philosophical theories, that's why themes like thse make me burst up in words, lolz._

Ahh yes, “caught in the crossfire” by which you mean, targeted first for no apparent reason. The hit squad rolls in, and finds both of them just chilling, and they kill them to attempt to prevent them from alerting him. But she let out a scream before they even opened fire, which means they really only killed her and her grandma, for the hell of it.

@lordwoods8631 2 жыл бұрын
@@hzhang1228 A Genocidal Mass Murderer might have been on location, but they weren’t in a situation which garnered the murder of an old lady and some girl. they didn’t just bust in and gun them down as a precaution, they busted in, secured them, as in they had them at their mercy, allowing them to confirm that they are just regular ass people, and then after a solid minute, they gunned them down. She had time to cry out, and that says it all, if they had gone in and shot them in a blitz assault, it would have made more sense, but they didn’t they captured them, cleared the downstairs area, and then, considering she had time to cry out, they probably had to say out loud that they were going to kill these two people. They had them at gunpoint, and she didn’t scream immediately, she only screams when they are about to shoot her, which is why her scream is cut off, by gunfire. It was an unnecessary and conscious decision to kill her and her grandmother, it happens often in warfare, civilians being captured for whatever reason, suspected of harbouring enemy soldiers or weapons etc etc, and when given time, and the option, to prove them innocent, militaries around the world simply opt to kill them anyways, even if they have definitive proof the civilians are harmless, because it’s easier to kill them than have them live as examples of their mistreatment of people. It’s a similar scenario here, they have the two civilians secured, they’ve been neutralized in that they cannot cause any harm, but instead of being taken into custody, or evacuated, or any other non lethal means, they are gunned down simply because it is easier. The crazy machine man might have been messed up mentally, but hopefully he exterminated all of the law enforcement there who had just as little regard for human life as he did, because he never claimed to be the good guy while slaughtering people, but they definitely did. Humanity is bad in fact and fiction, regard for sentient life should be far higher, some people are messed up a little, like our murder machine guy here, he needed to be eliminated, but lowering ones own regard for life in order to do so is no better. If people can kill the elderly and youth so easily, with no consequences, why should we even bother having law enforcement? Maybe I’m just grumpy, but there was absolutely no reason for them to die, I’d have been much less uppity about it if they’d gone down because it was a fast guns blazing raid. In fact, if they were planning to kill everyone inside anyways, they could and should have just blown up the whole building.

@@hzhang1228 The fact that even you call them a "hit squad" basically shows that the police in that scene are clearly in the wrong even if Shishigami's actions are still worse. While I'll give you that the hit squad didn't know if Shion and/or her grandmother had the same powers at all, the fact that it doesn't seem like they even *tried* to detain them first like they did Shishigami is why the police are definitely the villains too in that scene, especially since Shishigami hadn't killed any police at that point. Hell, for all they knew, Shion and her grandmother were hostages, and she cried out his name in panic as an understandably frightened teenage girl might. Speaking of hostages, the police enacting their too common "shoot first, ask questions never" policy is also dumb here on top of its utter immorality. Even if Shion and her grandmother were sympathetic to Shishigami, then you take *them* as hostages (to be arrested afterwards for their crimes) and at least *attempt* to use their safety as a bargaining chip against the super strong, super murderous guy that had just lost his mother a couple of months back. I know police worldwide are generally fucking terrible at de-escalation, but I don't see the benefit of killing two visibly unarmed people an extremely dangerous guy _may_ care about *after* you already know he's been alerted unless your goal is to piss him off and give him even more reason to kill (you). It just seems stupidly short-sighted, but I suppose that's unfortunately realistic (especially given the sickening amount of people who act like summary execution by police for [minor] crimes is somehow warranted even when the person in question is visibly unarmed and not an active threat).

@@lordwoods8631 you are telling me the guys who stood no chance against the alien weapon were scientists who knew all about the killing machine, all the info on who he is, how to identify who are machines and who are not in the blink of an eye during an high stakes mission yet all died in the blink of an eye? your judgement considers nothing of the position of the agents and only your prejudice. all of these agents behind the mask are individuals with different backgrounds and family, yet you are able to without even knowing their names act as judge jury and executioner and conclude they as a single entity have no respect for life? they have placed their own lives in risk to be there in the first place. and judging by their performance have zero intel on what they are up against. that is the empirical evidence. you say they are able to perform tests in the heat of the mission to id that the girl and the old lady is not also weaponized while knowing nothing about the actual danger, is that shown in the anime or an assumption? (i haven't seen the anime) but lets say they have a gadget to id the girl and lady are not weaponized how do they know they are also not able to aid or control the weapon in any way? there is already evidence that they are aiding the weapon you are telling me in the time eclipsed they are able to have a zoom meeting with a prosecutor and judge to determine the innocence of the girl and grandma? (and didn't the girl already know what he has done at this point? making her having equally less regard for human lives?) the known evidence is that the agents have little to no knowledge on what they are dealing with. that the target is extremely dangerous. the target is hiding with other likely accomplices. with these known evidence we can logically assume that the team while knowing zero details of the weapon knows this is a life risking mission. the fact that they are throwing their life on the front lines already contradicts the claim that they hold no regard for human lives unless that includes their own lives. we can also logically assume that if they have enough evidence to decide that it was not an arrest mission but a kill mission the level of danger and stakes involved does not leave room for talks, meaning they lack enough control of the situation to surround the house and ask the person to surrender. which means if they divert resource to try and arrest the two accomplice the mission would be jeopardized and the lives of the agents would be put under risk in a situation that is not under their control. the best liberal approach would be calling out for his surrender, and after the ensuing firefight and countless lives lost put him in prison with first world treatment of 3 meals a day, heating and cooling along with medical. a life the vast majority of the world can not afford working an honest job full time. unfortunately (sarcasm) the governing bodies do not yet operate on feelings but the greater good. and the lives of the countless lost, and would lose and the lives of the agents are put first before the genocidal guy and his likely accomplices. sure there will always be bleeding hearts that wish the agents to be killed and march on the streets for criminals. ideological BS usually festers during a civilization's decline, but over the long run they are few and far in between and thus civilizations remain.

If only Ando (I think thats how you spell it) had convinced him to be good from the start when he starting causing mass car accidents (because that was a MASSIVE red flag) all it would have taken would be for him to ask what he was gonna do with his powers, and upon founding out he was gonna kill people, convince him not to. Boom mass suffering avoided, they both would have been fully operational to take out the meteor, (heading rapidly between earth and the meteor to refill) and MAYBE have destroyed it before it hit earth without having to self destruct.

This anime just showed for me the physiological drama of realizing your not human and you can feel your not you like before like your souls missing and then to fill that void unfortunately one of them could only recall seeing death as a way to feel life. And one can only felt human when he saved a life. The anime gave you a perspective on how life can suddenly end and how thinks are always never really in control but even in the worst you should try and do your best for yourself and others and try not to fall into the darkness in everyone or you'll find yourself lost to it. Only every knowing the ugly and sad
