Most people still don't realize the MAPPA took over Attack on Titan cause nobody else wanted to do season 4 in the time frame that was given, that is why MAPPA did cgi titans cause it was less time consuming, not cause they thought it would look better.

They do be taking a lot of projects though which is a little bit unfair for their other anime pointing out to Attack on Titan, although they really did a great job and in fact did their best and a lot of people find the 4th season great which is the important thing, still if only they gave it more time we would definitely see something better if not the best.

Mob psycho is probably one of the most imaginative animes ever, they can have like 5 different styles of animation in one episode it's rad
@g_g...
@g_g... 3 жыл бұрын
Huh? No no no, you're getting confused. What you see in mob are sakugas. Mob psycho has a ton of sakuga every now and then. This isn't unique to the world of anime, anime from the 1900s till now have had a lot of sakuga implemented in their shows. Essentially a sakuga is a scene that differentiates itself compared to the rest of the scenes in having unique points of view, different artstyle, different animation style and typically more fluid animation than what the anime usually does. Sure mob's animation is very good but you must also pay attention to the art style which has a lot to do with how they handle the animation style. Mob Psycho's art style is very well made and unique and it's super artistic full of talented artists. So mob psycho is probably one of the most uniquely made animation style due to its artstyle and amount of sakuga they have. Also something else i wanna say is that sakuga are usually made by one specific talented artist that either works for the company or is one for hire which is always being asked to complete jobs from many different anime. That also explains why sakuga has a bit of a different art style in general, it's cause it's a specific artist's art style.

mappa still shitty for accepting. aot anime production committee is already evil for creating devilish deadlines and schedule and WIT studio declined because it would hurt them and many other studio declined because of the same reason. If MAPPA didn't accept them, they would accept their mistake and elongate the deadline and schedule. so yes we should shit on mappa because they accepted, but thank animators for their work. if you guys lick their ass and justify everything they do, you'd ruin every anime.

I'm personally not a fan of the 3d titans, because it just looks worse but I understand the whole time/budget restraints and in all fairness, it isn't bad 3D so still easily watchable. Overlord is a series where the 3d animations are just pure pain to watch, like the normal animation is great and probably where all the budget went but those 3D models definitely takes you out of the show.

If it wasn't for Mappa, we wouldn't get a final season of attack on titan. No other studio wanted it, because they didn't want to ruin the final season. Too much pressure. For Mappa, it was easier to CG the titans than to draw them with the talent they had at their studio and the time they had. That's why the final arc will be delayed so they can draw the titans this time. I truly appreciate what Mappa has done.

Well that, and they had to end season 4 part 1 at the place they did, because they were waiting for the last few chapters of the manga to end back in April. So they couldn't really continue the story beyond that point, without them ending it in the middle of a conflict. Now they ended it at the start of the conflict, and have about a year to animate and create the last 10 or so episodes and do them justice.

The scale of the titan at 10:17 is changing because the japanese animations are mostly done by freelance animator working from their places, so there's little or no control of the actual work until it's delivered to the studio. It's the animation director's role to fix the issues ( bad design, scale, poor timing etc...) but when you're out of time, you just let the cut in without correction because the schedules are so tight. Plus, you can have one single cut drawn by a certain artist and the following one by another one. One of them can read the e conte ( storyboard ) and decide his character has to be tall enough to grab the giant titan at his ankle while the second one will decide that the correct size allows the hero to seize the knee.

To be honest, I think Mushoku Tensei would be the most deserving of coverage, because of the effort put into the smallest of scenes. Like in in episode one, where Rudeus first attempts at magic are beautifully animated to a point, where I think it might be the best looking magic ever done in animation(08:33, 13:20, ep.2, 05:38, 18:06), the same applies to Roxys magic(ep. 1, 17:37, ep.2, 16:35), in episode 3 (14:09), as well as to Sylphies magic. And that’s still ignoring all the gorgeous, lively character animation and the stunning background drawings. I also think Mushoku Tenseis training scenes (good examples in episodes 6 (10:18), 7(00:00), 10(00:00),12(07:08) and 21(02:20)), deserve a lot of credit, seeing how they are not really important to the story: You could just have the characters talk about training or show a few still frames instead of actually animating them, yet instead those scenes are better animated than most series finales. That said, those finales do hit hard, although there not really being a final battle, since the stories most integral parts aren’t necessarily it’s fights. Also, showing the fight in episode 21 (later in the episode) would kinda spoil a lot, so it’s probably not to good to review. Hope that helps ^^.

still one of the best, and totally still holds up decades later. I probably watch it through about once every year or two. it helped set a standard for choreography I think, especially moving forward from that era as anime started exploding internationally. cowboy bebop is still in my top 3. I love the future-retro style too, it makes the world feel more physical somehow, like there are cities on other planets but they still kind of have a crowded 90s metropolitan feel amongst all the future tech, and the spacecraft feel especially solid and like physical vehicles. and that soundtrack... yoko kanno is one of my heroes.

They shifted to CGI in season 4 because they had a very tight schedule. They switched studios very suddenly and Mappa had around a year to get everything done. They had a lot of work done in 2d but ultimately had to replace everything (titans and fights) with 3d because they were running out of time. If they had given Mappa 1 more year, it would've been all done in 2d. And if you look up the the storyboard and rough animation on KZbin, you'll be amazed and kinda pissed because it didn't end up in the final cut. The producers were pushing studio WIT too hard, they weren't giving them enough time and they had to quit the project. Producers did the same with Mappa, they didn't give them enough time.

I need to commend Niko and Wren for giving our guest the opportunity to flesh out layman terms for viewers. If there is ever a phrase or saying privy to the industry, hosts do not shy away from getting the guests' perspective on what they particularly mean. Whenever I ask myself, "I wonder what they mean by that?" By the time I’m done thinking, our hosts have already had our guest define it in their own thoughts and expertise. Great video, I enjoy it, as it aligned with many thoughts that I’ve had over the years 👍

I think it had to do with the shading or something though, not the model. That being said, and I know there is a different animation company the last season, but all of the CG titans now are LEAGUES better than the abomination that was the Colossal titan from season 2 and 3. That thing stood out like a sore thumb. Looked straight out of a PS2 game.

Yeah the cgi really didn’t bother me. A few shots I was like meh but overall it was cool to see main Titans moving around. I think a lot of people forget that in Seasons 2 and 3 when the Armor Titan was more prominent, a lot of his scenes, and even fight scenes, were still frames. The Attack Titan, the Jaws and the pure Titans had more movement in their scenes because they had less detail to draw/animate. Titans like the beast and armor were much more difficult to render. That’s why they used cgi for the colossal cause big boy has hella details. If you rewatch the series, you’ll notice how little action the Armored, Beast, and Colossal actually get.

Fewer frames than some past works of Kyoto Animation, sure, because the models are much more complex in Violet Evergarden, but you are way off with the "just pretty stills". Attack on Titan has many more still images and often with fewer lines drawn, but I'd not call that "just pretty stills". Although in Wit's defense they have always been a very small team, especially those working on Attack on Titan, and they also never had enough time to do maybe everything they would have liked to do. And also same goes for Mappa, only while Mappa did have the team size, they had even less time. I mean jeeez, they had like 9 frigging months to get Part 1 of Season 4 ready to air, which was insane. Meanwhile Kyoto Animation had a movie-like schedule for Violet Evergarden, 2 years for 13 episodes plus an OVA. So yeah, it shows in that show, the time and attention they put into EVERYTHING.

groundbreaking anime - not just for its visuals, story, and characters, but for its profound meditation on existence: the original Ghost In The Shell. After watching it, a pair of siblings showed it to a producer and said "we wanna do that for real." A few years later that movie was released as The Matrix.

It’s a classic! One of my favourites. The animation is great but I also like all the philosophy of it.

Ghost in Shell: Stand Alone Complex is groundbreaking for a TV anime too. For its time those were some of the best visuals ever and even today they hold up

@@Bluespaceboat pretty debatable, AoT is one of those rare pieces of work that actually fill in every plot device used and ties it in a neat little bow. The plot twists are some of the best ever in literature. Also from sequencing, animation, sounds and the soundtrack, it's one of the best if not the best production for an anime that's ever been produced.

@@econnak7909 as someone that has watched all of aot up until now i can say that the show is trash. the story was cool in the first season but after that its just repetitive. with the exception of a few scenes scattered throughout the series the animation was alright at best. when you compare it to shows like jujutsu kaisen, demon slayer, black clover, hell even boruto the animation in aot just doesn't hold up. when it comes to story its honestly stupidly easy to find shows with better story. just about everything mentioned above plus a few other shows like my hero, parasyte, and even the last couple seasons of SAO. If were being honest with ourselves the ONLY reason so many people cling on to aot like their life depends on it is because for many of us myself included it was the first anime we watched and nobody wants to admit that the show that got them into anime isn't good.

@@roidsaccounts9565 Yeah once you said SAO I no longer considered your argument relevant. AoT is not the first anime I've watched, and I disagree heavily, the story and animation are top tier. You call everything else besides season one repetitive? Interesting you'd put MHA there, one of the most repetitive shows out there. Everything after season one of AoT was starting to get very story heavy, and one if the biggest mysteries, the basement of erens house, has revealed that civilization beyond the walls is real, one of the biggest and greatest mysteries of the show. I don't understand this mentality to call it repetitive? Each season has something different and only progresses the story even more.

The "energy"-based animation really is the essence of animation. The usage of abstraction and stylization to make still images feel alive is what it's all about.

I think that's what subconsciously draws people to anime so much. The need and feeling for energy and movement. And combined with fantasies and sci-fi realties that we can only think and dream of... *it's otherworldly*

I think that's why CG movies are having ever less emotional impact on people, at least from my perspective, while 2D animation can give you so many alternatives and visual styles that you never tire of it.
