@neutralweird
@neutralweird 6 ай бұрын
could be that because theyre in the same business, she believes she wouldnt fall for such an obvious trap or atleast he wouldnt pull it on her and maybe he took advantage of that to milk what he can from her. With host clubs, some hosts are very personable and when you talk to them daily, its easy to forget this person is working. (Not trying to victim blame tho, no matter how much of a "tease" someone is, they dont deserve to be stabbed, dragged, almost killed, etc etc.) Maybe he made the interaction feel very intimate and/or she felt it was more than what it was. Perhaps at the start she knew what he was doing and she gave into the fantasy, she started liking him the more they talked, and then at some point she thinks they're past the host/client relationship. Esp if they act like they were dating or are even doing more intimate things that he doesnt do at work.

@@Panda_Rollthe managers are usually not able to bring in the money like the top hostesses, which is why they are the managers. Hi Stephanie, Regarding the “Delivery Health” thing, you didnt mention it but prostitution in Japan is *technically* illegal. However, said law only criminalizes “penetration between male and female for an economic transaction”. If you think this is a loophole the size of Mount Fuji, you are right: prostitution-by-any-other-name flourishes in Japan, including the nondescriptively named “delivery health” (デリヘル), the sex workers are called “aestheticians” (エステ), and there are at least one recorded case of a lesbian sex work service that bills itself as totally not illegal because “there is no penetration”.

it warmed my heart knowing he survived. Part of me thinks that his forgiveness came partially from the social status of "having a yandere go after him". As dark as it sounds, he and his friends could have seen this as some sort of "male victory" and, thanks to her, not only his business had a major boost, but also his ego. In a way, he might feel like his almost-killer saved his life.

@chaosjelly106 because no one deserves to be murdered. And he didn't force her to do any of the things she did, or even ask her to do them. He was a host, as Stephanie explains a lot of the things he said are things hosts, and hostesses (like she was) will say or imply to get people to come back. And most people understand that it's not real/it's part of the fantasy/transaction. It's been a few days since I watched the video, but I do think Phoenix expressed regret over the things she felt she had to do for him, as he didn't realize she was doing all of that, and if he did he would have handled things differently. It's why he asked for leniency for her. Regardless though, even you think think he had been a dick, he still didn't do anything to deserve getting stabbed and someone trying to kill him.

Honestly, when I read that he forgave her, I sneered. But after I heard about his life story, I sympathized and not actually surprised. He probably had a very low self-worth. Just toiling on and living is probably his most heartful wish. Not to mention, the psycho did 'give' him money that he couldn't possibly get without her. His sense of self-worth is very low, he's very humble and gets satisfied easily. You would never know just how humble a human's self-worth could be from his life experiences. I'm just glad he finds a silver lining to comfort himself and I hope he could hold onto that and find his own true happiness.

People who fantasize about yandere have probably never actually been in an abusive relationship and have no idea what that kind of emotional manipulation and abuse is like. Yukas type of obsession is not "love". If they loved you, they would want you to be happy, instead they want to take away your freedom and control you. They don't really care if you are happy or not, its a very selfish thing.

@@psychopatate2713 I think it can be wrong to give people the idea that certain abusive relationship dynamics are actually normal and fine or cute, but you should be careful about what conclusions you draw from what data. We don't know that the reason there is a group of people who support Yuka is just because they were influenced by the yandere trope. There could be many other reasons they are attracted to that type of person like trauma they suffered growing up. I think its important to be careful with that line of thinking about fiction because it can easily blend into arguments like 'video games that have violence should be banned' and people saying that if you play GTA you are more likely to murder someone and so on. As well as many other similar arguments I think are bad.

The fact that nobody saw any of the red flags, when there were clearly so many, is slightly shocking. Phoenix probably felt obligated to not complain either so she'd keep coming into his job, he couldn't even help himself. I also wonder if the girl who called Yuka & told on Phoenix feels any responsibility for this as well? Id feel guilty as hell honestly.

When you were talking about the use of daisuki and aishiteru I actually have some translation corrections if read this: so suki is actually the more commonly used among couples. Suki means to like and it’s basically a more casual way of saying that you like someone. Daisuki would actually be translated to “big like” if translated literally. However in contexts it’s used in relationships as a way of being like “I love you” (but in the sense that they’re in a more serious relationship). Aishiteru however is normally used between husband and wife when expressing love for each other. From what I can gather it’s basically like unconditional love. Again it’s only really used between husband and wife. I hope this comment was helpful- I’ve been studying Japanese for about 8 years now

I looked his name up to see who he was,, and most lf the articles on the 1st page are so apologetic of him.. everything stressing that it was an accident and how unfortunate it is that his sentenced wasn't appealed. One of the articles blaimed the mom for stepping into the street like wtf

stephanie!! for all your content ive consumed, i always end up feeling enlightened and greatful. Thank you My kids are very into watching gamers and game play throughs.. (so i always want to sneak a peek at what they're watching obviously).. It was while trolling through their 'watched content' I stumbled across a documentary (for lack of a better description) by TRO (the right opinion) who content was about the developer of the yandere game develop (in your words 'unhinged') most definitely. A very in depth vid.. worth a watch. Watching/listening to you.. reminded me of TRO's content on this. Thank you for your respectful/eloquent insight into the world of host/hostess club. Totally make sense. Who needs all the extra fairy floss and lipstick😁. Thanks again for occupying my time with great content

I remember seeing news of this back in June 2019, when Yuka was just arrested and made research (as much as I could get from a lone person from college) for a 'philosophy and psychology' class... back then, Phoenix was still in Coma and we didn't know if he would live. I'm honestly relieved that he survived and doing good now.

Heard this case before and it never fails to disappoint me when I hear about it, the fact that so many people were romanticizing this mentally disturbed woman and completely ignoring the man she hurt and all of her crimes because she was attractive is actually horrific. How could people be so blinded by stuff like that?
