Just had to pause this video 12 minutes in after gigguk was describing the charm of writing a letter and the importance of word choice when you have limited space. For someone who has his master's in engineering, you would think that he'd be more practical and logical. This guy strings together sentences beautifully, is intensely creative, and notices small things in story telling that most can't pick up on. That's not even the crazy part, it's the way he communicates it through his videos. I hope you guys appreciate the raw talent he has, and the quality of his videos. I've seen quite a few anime youtubers and none of them come even remotely close. Yes I know I'm coming off as a huge fan boy which I rarely do, but I just have to appreciate great quality work when I see it. If you're reading this Gigguk, please continue down the path of being a content creator - even if it isn't about anime. You are truly a gift.

For some reason, after the whole screamfest he did about Darling in the Franxx/Goblins and shit at around 10:33, the really long pause he put in before he started to talk again coupled with fading in the next section's music really stood out to me. The time that was given to me in that pause made me physically calm down from all the excitement he threw at me in the minute beforehand, and to do that in the video editing process may not seem like much to us as viewers, but that takes some crazy foresight as the content creator to notice. Wild.

I think with Darling in the Franxx, it feels like the entire time they were setting up a good season 2 but realized that it's not going to happen and scrapped the entire ending they were aiming for in Season 1 and combined it with season 2 in like.. 4 episode. The last 4 episodes could be an entire season on it's own.

Seriously, this year was so packed with shows, plenty of them being stellar, that I probably watched more airing anime this year than in any previous ones. The one that stuck in my mind the most was A Place Further Than The Universe though, it had really well-written, relatable characters and evoked a sense of wonder, desire to travel and explore new places that I don't think any show before managed to do quite as well for me. The theme of making the most of one's youth really hit home with my own feelings and I couldn't get it out of my mind for the entirety of 2018

What I liked about Violet Evergarden was how it told what it is like to be human, from the perspective of a girl who didn't even know what emotions were or how to perceive them. It goes through each episode to tell each human emotion; hope, love, honesty and grief, grief being an underlining aspect of the entire series due to Violet not knowing that her CO/Love interest is dead (even though he might not be if you saw the cliffhanger at the very last episode) and her coming to terms with his passing. Evergarden is my personal favorite of 2018.
