@@kaelthunderhoof5619this but my problem now is which originals are good, and which adaptation is great. Mangas and LNs give good filter of what to watch, and then from it a good episode or two of said title in anime will give you a rough idea if it’s good or bad to continue watching. But I still watch almost all titles I knew as I stack the mangas up for binge reading that I watch the show purely because I forget about the plotlines of the mediocre ones🤣

I looked it up at least 3x a year since that original trailer. So sad.
@arilumani6194Ай бұрын
I read the manga last year for Halloween in preparation for the anime and I know how you feel. It's like Duke Nukem Forever but instead of taking 14 years it took 5 years, yet the last 3 episodes looked like they took only 6 months to make. P.S. I didn't actually find any problem with the last 3 episodes but the drop in quality is so obvious, especially with one particularly bad falling scene going viral.
@g4anodeАй бұрын
I read somewhere they ran into budget/production issues and it was either, don't release anything, or release what was released. No idea how true it is, but it would go some ways in explaining why they fumbled.
@trifontrifonov4297Ай бұрын
Basically as I w understand it that great first episode took too much time and cost too much money, so the beancounters and bosses forced the project to be split between other studios and animators. And it's not even that the people who got drafted in did not do their best, it railroaded the creative process and split it between too many people without the overarching vision and quality control. It's becomes a mess. The people making it managed to push through and the last episodes are not nearly as bad, but there is the issue of adaptation. Adapting a story to a new medium is not easy and the show made the worst possible choice. It took slow paced and creepy story and tried to adapt all of it in too few episodes. It does not leave the show time the breathe and rushes and ruins far too many moments. It needed to cut some stuff, but nobody had the stones to do that to one of the best horror stories ever told. It was a flawed project to begin with, as it was about capturing someone style and spirit perfectly in animation, instead of adapting their work in a new media.

15:36 - Well, if I remember correctly, the male lead DOES try to tell his boss that he can’t go to Alaska because of his cat, but she pretty much dismisses it, saying that the cat isn’t an excuse. I don’t think being less socially adverse would have helped with that being the case.
@electroninja7419Ай бұрын
No it would, it’s a shit excuse that really holds up to nothing,
@feha92Ай бұрын
Yes it would? He could also have said "I can't go to alaska because I don't want to, and it is not part of my job contract". Or if it was, cut off the last half of that sentence, and imply that the option is them firing him with severance. (or that he simply resigns). The boss is honestly entirely correct that a cat is not an excuse for why you can't go - because there is literally nothing preventing you from bringing it with you.

The weirdest thing is, Uzumaki was only about 2 hours long if you put all the episodes together. If the story had been made as a movie, with the allotted time, budget and animators that an anime movie typically gets compared to a show, there could hypothetically have been a Junji Ito adaptation where the animation was consistent for its entirity. It would be one thing if the story was so long it couldn't fit into 90-100 minutes, but here it seems like the real factor that doomed it to becoming an inconsistent let-down as the episodes progressed was that whoever controls the process greenlighting Junji Ito adaptations wouldn't commit to a movie even when the story was short enough for it to be feasible

Gigguk, the concept of heliocentrism versus the earth rotating around the sun goes back to 230 BCE and a dispute between Aristotle's Heliocentric theory and Aristarchus. As there was no way to test either theory in 230 BCE the prevailing theory was Heliocentrism. In 1610 Galileo invented his telescope and mapped out Venus rotating not around the Earth but the sun. Nicolaus Copernicus's advantage was that Warsaw was much further from Rome and his research was not held as heretical.
@Axterix13Ай бұрын
Added to that, the show plays up a what if situation, rather than the reality. Galileo had some issues with a faction of the church, but he himself was friends with the Pope.
@LEOTomeganeАй бұрын
It's similar to the "earth is flat" thing with Columbus; a good chunk of the people who actually cared were generally aware of the reality.
@DavidCowie2022Ай бұрын
The sun-centred model was proved by Johannes Kepler, who was a religious man and did not believe that God would have created something as inelegant as the earth-centred model, which needs wheels within wheels within wheels to make predictions line up with observations. Copernicus had the disadvantage that he believed the planets' orbits to be perfect circles, so predictions from his model were no better than the best geocentric models. Heretical *and* inaccurate? No thanks! Kepler had the key insight that orbits are elliptical, and this made his model's predictions spot-on accurate. My main source on this matter describes the properties of elliptical orbits, and snarkily says"This was surely pleasing to the benevolent God who created mathematicians."
@a2falconeАй бұрын
Unlike Copernicus, Galileo presented his ideas in the midst of the Catholic Counterreformation, when the Church became more zealous with what might be heretical. He also took the poor strategy of presenting his theories in a book written as dialogues between fictional characters, one of which was a priest who was ridiculed as ignorant and stupid, and many thought represented the Pope. The Pope was Galileo's employer and monarch, so he didn't like that at all. No one was ever burned at the stake for defending heliocentrism. There was this guy, Giordano Bruno, who was burned for heresy. While he did defend heliocentrism, that wasn't the reason he was sentenced to death. He was sentenced to death for countless other heretical ideas about theology.
@ModieАй бұрын
@@DavidCowie2022 I mean, technically, you can make a working geocentric model. It's part of relativity that any observer can be the one being still from their point of view, so the same is true for earth as well. I mean, if we want to predict how the planets move on our sky, we actually have to do exactly that. Use the heliocentric model and then recalculate it into one where the observer on earth is the center. The show actually makes this point early on, it just becomes very hard to make predictions with this model. And when it comes to science we usually want to use the most simple model there is. That's why we still use Newton mechanics and not relativity to calculate our day to day observations, because while relativity is technically the true model, Newton mechanics are close enough in the space we are living that it would just make it unnecessarily complicated to not use it.
