I don’t think I would pursue the career of an artist/animator without the help of your videos. So i found this channel rather recently and while i disagree with some of your opinions on how the show was handled in the narrative side of things ( because it has a few more hits than misses) i´m not going to argue that you made a really good job with your animation breakdowns. Thanks to your video on "what is bad animation is" i learn that there is more reasons on why some things turn out the way they did instead of pointing my finger to a studio and say "why did you do this" and in consequence i apreaciate animation a little bit more now, so a lot of thanks for that. And when it comes to this episode, this was a really good way to go out for now. While a bit rushed i really feel like the direction of the whole episode carry out that particular flaw and truly show a lot of potential for the incoming movie so bless Ishitani for that. Thx for your hard work, i think i´m gonna stick around for a little more.

I rarely comment on your channel Ajay, but I just want to extend a heartfelt thank you. These animation breakdowns you have been fantastic. And really they have taught me a lot in terms of better critically evaluate stuff on an animation and art level. Not that will ever be my expertise for whenever reviewing anime I tend to focus on story characters, and themes. And am more of an expert on sound design. But animation chops do help. DBS final episode was well made, but very rushed. And really, that's honestly how I feel about DBS. I find it really hollow. The fact it rehashed two movie arcs was lazy and while I enjoyed the Future Trunks arc; the show dropped the ball with its antagonists, like Zamasu. And this current arc just seemed even more inconsistent from a story perspective. If I'd rate super, it would be a 65/100 or 60. As in, it's meh. Hopefully, the movie will be much better.

Oh Ajay, you are what made this series bearable. Watching your breakdowns after an episode is what gave me strength to see the next, you've exposed so many layers for the main populace of this fanbase that it's probably never going to go back to "Toei needs to step up their game" as the fullest extent on talks about animation and direction. You've established instead a new hate, for the evil, twisted and tyrannical villain named Yamamuro... Manning his "correctional facility". Soniman001 No shit sherlock, if your lack of comprehension matched your wit you'd be in bloody Oxford. Well, since I need to explain it... The interest to continue watching was not because of it's (piss poor) narrative but the development of the new talent emerging from Toei and freelancers. It gave me a new interest in the series while every other layman was busy doing mock up theoretical plot outcomes and "power levels" (possibly the things you follow...), this guy was discussing something actually tangible and reflective of it's process. We know more about it's production, we know who the animators are and we know their influences/influencers. So yeah man, fuck off haha. I know why I continued to watch it and I don't need no condescending cunt telling me the sky is blue. Thanks for trying though, dickhead 😀

iTouchin the condescension in this reply is quite astounding. I swear faux Intellectuals in regards to DB all act the same LOL
@iTouchin6 жыл бұрын
Soniman001 Hey man, if you think the manner in which I write imitates an intellectual, thanks. I don't think it's all that remarkable but hey, a backhanded compliment is still a compliment ;D Dude, if you feel threatened by any "intellectual" speaking regarding the processes of animation, then I feel I need to point out that this is one of the processes where actual adults can actually be curious about while also justifying their interest to what is essentially a Sunday cartoon... Far be it from me to say an adult can't enjoy a mindless story but even this mindless story needed well knowledged and skilled individuals to make it happen. Sorry that you want to guess what colour the next Super Saiyan form will be though... I'm guessing purple.
@Spike6Pixel6 жыл бұрын
iTouchin He said you write in a manner that implies you're attempting to sound like an individual. It's artifical. Your comments are wordy, but lack substance. Your condescending attitude and need to further explain yourself help to emphasize this claim. In other words: You sound like an ass. I agree that Ajay's videos made me anticipate future episodes more, but you made it seem as if you had no other interest at all in the series, which makes your reasoning extremely sad.

Was a beautiful episode for Tadayoshi Yamamuro to end on (if we don't see him again). His corrections, as you mentioned, ensured the art was very polished In this episode. That mixed with Ishitani's beautiful direction and SB made for a visually appealing ending. Enjoy or dislike Yamamuro's work, he still is responsible for so many things and many great moments. His last shot of Goku (your thumbnail) made me smile as it sort of acted as a visual of himself. Worn out from all the hard work he's done, but happy and proud of it at the same time. If he doesn't return at all (though I reckon he may come back as a supervisor on an episode if a new series begins) then I thank him for all he's done. While I personally am not a fan of the new style by Shintani so far, I will be open and see how the animators incorporate their unique takes on it. Hopefully it will win me over eventually. Onward to December lads.

You've become one of my favourite KZbinrs and I enjoyed your content through and through, learned a lot and view a lot of things differently now, I'll sure stick around for more content. Shitani absolutely nailed this episode, easily Supers best directed episode. She is very talented and deserves all the praise she gets, let's hope she'll stick around. Animationwise there's not much to say, Takahashi, Young-ce and so on surly delivered. Overall, Super has been a very bumpy ride with a rough start and a lot of issues and problems. With that beeing said, it's amaizing how far it has come, it still wasn't perfect, but Toei surly pulled a great ending compared to the trainwreck that this show was at the start. Despite all issues, I can't deny I enjoyed watching it for the most part and it surely introduced some great talents to the franchise as well as it brough back veterans, it wont be the same without Super (and reviews and Ajays Stuff rundup ) on Sunday. With that being said, Super may be over, but Dragonball.surely isn't and has a bright future. Can't wait for the new movie and a very likely new series. In that sense, until we meet again.

This was a fun ride. Definitely had a lot of lows but plenty of highs as well. I also thank you for your insights into the production/sakuga side of things. Thanks to you, I've grown interested in learning more about this sort of thing and have been able to recognize a few of the supervisors and animators, though definitely not as well as I should. I'll be glad to keep watching you and see your thoughts on the movie this December.

There is something weirdly heart warming about Supers production I watched Berserk 2016 recently and it adapts the manga pretty much page by page.However the goofy visuals and sounds , dislexic editing and rigor mortis character acting drown the story into the mud while the studio evidently doesn't care at all considering that S2 is worse. Meanwhile the production of Super persevered and became better as it went along making a (IMO) a shallow story into something enjoyable with their hard work and passion. Its really great that ppl like u make the staff known because they truly deserve it.

watching Goku and Freeza delivering the final blow in their forms they're the most known for was incredibly satisfying. I also really loved the hair and aura effects as Goku struggled to just turn SSJ, you can really see he's giving his all. Anyway, great video as always, please keep this up until the universe is erased

I think the director's inability to see the episode before the last may have actually been a blessing in disguise, as she was able to follow her own gut regarding how to set things up, and I remember and love episode 131 so much more than the episode before it, even though you could say that was the "climax" of the arc. Episode 131's first half was the most amped thing I've seen out of the entirety of the show, and it was a spectacular send-off for the series at this point.

Yeah, I think it's all for the best that she didn't. Let her own work speak for itself.

It's so wierd to think that just a year and a half ago, I had no clue about what the Hell made Dragon Ball so popular, but thanks to Super catching my eye thanks to Trunks vs Fused Zamasu clips on KZbin, finally acting on that interest with DBZA making me more curious than ever, and finally watching Kai, I can definitely see why. Super may be one of the most divisive shows on the planet and may have done several things oh-so-horribly wrong, but what it does right and it being my introduction to Dragon Ball and subsequently Anime as a whole just makes me not feel to bad about it in the long run. I have to also say, thanks Ajay, I went from only having a basic understanding of what animation was, but now I've found a new interest in learning about all of these animators and many more (even though I'm burnt out on drawing myself), and I have you to thank for that. Looking forward to your other animation roundups, Ajay! Super may have just ended, but I can tell this is just only the beginning.

It's been...a time. Despite thinking Super is overall lackluster I've always looked forward to saturday during its run. Your content is some of my favorite, I've always enjoyed learning about the technical side of things and never knew much about animation. I'm optimistic about dragon ball's future and can't wait for what comes next on your channel. Also, Praise Ishitani.

I'm kinda new to your channel, Ajay. But, I certainly love the content you're putting. Because of you, I now can recognize a few animators when watching the episode. I really appreciate the effort you put on your videos. Can't wait to see your next discussions and breakdowns!

Ah this was a lovely video Ajay. I finally watched the latest episode of Super and I was very happy with it, the final fight between Goku, Frieza, 17 and Jiren looked hella cool and the conclusion to the story was wrapped up well with some beautiful, heart-warming and nostalgic feelings. For me, while the show has been up and down when it comes to story, use of certain characters and mythology, when the show worked it was SO much fun and this final episode had me really giddy watching those fight sequences. Like you mentioned I noticed the direction and use of colour a lot in the episode and as the conclusion to the show, for now, I was very satisfied :D

Every single Dragon Ball fan should watch this video after watching 131. Oftentimes, these vital aspects of the show are missed when forming opinions. (And again this happens for 131) Thank you for always covering Super's evolution!

I'm sure I don't need to tell you that the intro you made had me dead. Anyway, Thank you to super and everyone involved on that, if not for super I wouldn't have had even half as good a time these past few years. Plus it brought us this KZbin series.

Damn Ajay you need to talk more about the narrative stuff and how it works taking other elements of the episodes into account. Like i've been enjoying this arc a lot so far (minus some offensively bad episodes like #119) and i couldn't notice the symbolism of the light on the sky until you pointed it out. I mean yeah i know you don't like being negative (much less with other super fans threatening to riot) and i don't like much negativity either (as i liked the arc and i feel sad when I can't share that enjoyment with everyone) but damn i feel like we could all even learn something new from this kind of stuff even if we don't agree overall.

God bless Ishitani. And, as always, thank you Ajay, this ride has been awesome. I'm thinking I may rewatch all the breakdowns you've done just to get myself over this weird feeling of knowing Super's over. I'm really looking forward to whatever is next in your channel. The trip has been awesome and you can bet I'm not going anywhere anytime soon :D
