Fun fact: if you listen closely, you may notice that Alucard’s voice sounds a little different compared to the first episode. That’s because between episodes, the VA Takahada101 had surgery on his nasal cavity to fix a childhood injury. FYI In Hellsing Ghouls are created when a vampire drains someone who isn't a virgin. That's why the priest in episode 1 wanted to grape Seras before killing her.

Seras definitely has her fill of badass scenes. Sadly the earlier episodes are a bit starved of it because the original series used her mainly for comic relief in the first half. Gives you something to look forward to though - she has one of the greatest episodes of this entirely revolving around her.

Hellsing Ultimate canonically occurs in 1999 and possibly the New Year (it's too much tempting symbolism for the Nazi antagonists not to attack on the dawn of the new millennium considering what they call themselves). Of course, since Alucard gets Netflix in Abridged and binges 'Adventure Time', who knows when HU-A happens. So, while Walter, aka "Angel of Death", is the kindly old butler most of the time, the man has a massive sadistic streak. If I recall, in both original versions of Hellsing, Walter spends a few minutes mocking and torturing Valentine. The original Hellsing anime is okay, but its not as good as Hellsing Ultimate. That is a show you should just quietly watch on the side, but be warned it goes from very dark and bloody to campy and back, its definetly NSFW or KZbin.

Hellsing takes place either in 2000 or 1995. Hard to tell. The manga started in 1997, but the date that the manga gives for over of the starting events, the one from the first episode with the vampire priest, took place on a date that didn't exist in 1997. A Wednesday on June 14th, given that June 14th wasn't on Wednesday in 1997, the two closest years where it is on a Wednesday are 1995 and 2000, it's one of them. There's some debate about it online

I've also seen people specifically talking about how the dates don't add up for Hellsing specifically, though not a lot. As for why you can't, well that's really up to the person, though I do like to have a timeline available if possible. The most likely case is that creator just picked a random day/date and ran with it. I'm just explaining it as best I can and how best to go about dealing with it.

Pre-WW2 many tanks had thin enough armor that heavy rifles (usually 12.7mm) could pierce it and kill a crewman. In the first episode, you might have noticed that the vampire priest who was going to kill Ceras said that he was going to assault her first. There's a reason for this. Draculas and Draculinas are born under specific conditions: Draculinas can only be created by Draculas, and Draculas by Draculinas. If a Dracula attempts to turn a male human, they'll become a ghoul, and the same is true if a Draculina attempts to turn a female human. In addition, the target must be a virgin, so if Ceras wasn't a virgin when Alucard turned her, she would have become a ghoul instead of a Draculina. The priest wasn't interested in creating a Draculina, so he was going to make sure that she would become a ghoul instead. This potential eventuality is why Integra is canonically an abstinent virgin.

Just to clarify they’re gouls not zombies. Vampires and gouls (the worst monster to be) go hand in hand (mostly). If a vampire bites you and you’re a virgin then you become a fledgling (part vampire not half vampire, there’s a difference). However if a vampire bites you and you’re V-Card gasp been punched then you’ll become a goul. A living torment forced to do the bidding of whatever vampire turned them into one...and watch. So like I said, the worst thing/monster you can turn into.

The "restraint levels" are 2, 1, and 0. They are artificial limits Alucard had placed on his powers to keep from getting bored, as his full power is completely overwhelming against all but the most powerful enemies. He normally operates at Restraint Level 2. When he gets semi serious, he "releases" to level 1, and when the dung really strikes the rotary oscillator, he goes to level zero, which is basically "God Mode"

Control art restriction level 1, it's a fun one. If I remember right, the scale is from zero to three and the lower the number, the fewer restrictions Alucard has on his powers. He can use his own judgement to release up to level 1. Level 2 is scary enough, so releasing level 1 for Luc might have been a bit overkill. Though you can't argue with the results, aside from the indigestion. Level 0 requires authorization from the head of the Hellsing organization and I won't spoil that one for you. You'll see it soon enough.

Yeah, I found this anime by a friend's recommendation, too. It's absolutely crazy but really funny, too. Every named character is so outrageous and distinct, even the vampires. I assume Police Girl loses consciousness when she enters the blood rage and that's why she doesn't remember what she does. Remember, she's merely turned. Her regenerative powers are not on par with Alucard or even Anderson. The original is not as funny but still pretty good.

love your reactions... always nice to see a fresh face getting hooked with this series, original, OVA or Abridged. (OVA means Original Video Animation, it's a release format of an independent limited series in anime, usually straying from original anime as specials, being supplementary to other non-anime formats like manga or games, or like in case of Hellsing Ultimate it's a more compounded version of the main events from the original source material... in case you were wondering) however, you saying that there's not enough strong and badass girls/women representation only means you haven't seen much of anime, especially older classics pre-2000, because the strong female characters are pretty common out there since like the 80s... they might be aesthetically enhanced to draw in male demographic of viewers, sure, that's just good marketing, but they still are all pretty badass. you have a few thousand episodes of required anime to watch from the past three-to-four decades xd

So fun fact the original Helsing anime finished before the comic so the last 2 episodes were completely different from how it actually went then when they remade it as ultimate years later they completly covered the first 10 episodes in like 4-5 episodes and completely skipped a bunch of smaller details and added in a bit more humor as the original was on a very like serious dark action theme comparatively and then this parody is pretty true to the actual show if the edgy humour was turned up from a 5 to like an 11

I know I'm a bit late here, but a bit of Hellsing lore here. Most of the vampires in Hellsing Ultimate are actually "fake" vampires. The first two and the priest in the first episode, the Valentine brothers, and...*checks playlist*...others, are "created" using a scientific process and some techno-babble. They are then given microchips and when they fail their missions, they are set on fire (hence why Jan ignites in blue flames). The abridged series doesn't explain it all that well and, to be fair, neither does Hellsing Ultimate. The original anime and the source manga do a better job. The only "real" vampires to appear in the series (at least in Hellsing Ultimate and Abridged) are Alucard and Seras. Hence, Alucard's comment in episode one, "A **REAL** f*cking vampire!"

I knew that there was something I loved about you Melon, I too can't abide people who watch things out of order, like I can't see myself remaining friends with them if they do that lol. Over all TFS does a good job with their adaptation, but they do skip some important things. Ghouls are products of vampires drinking the blood of those who aren't virgins and or those of the opposite sex , creating mindless zombies who follow their creators, it's also why the vampire in the first episode threatened to rape Seras, cause she was defiant and he did not want to create a vampire with free will who'd rebel against him, her being a ghoul would make her subservient. They just have purple eyes to show you that they are ghouls as visual aide for when you can't see the decaying faces or bodies. One of the other things you will miss out on in TFS Hellsing is that ghouls are incapable of complex actions ordinarily, which is why it's a big deal that Jan's ghouls are dressed in military armor and wielding firearms, cause millennium managed to train them . Finally I need to explain Alucard, he is vampire enhanced by the Hellsing family to be the ultimate vampire hunter , but as his powers are really powerful they placed a series of seals on his powers, the sigils on his gloves are visual representations of their power . Level one can be released by Alucard on his own and grants him his full vampiric strength and speed as well as some traditional vampire abilities of shape shifting ,familiars etc..., But the final seal , Level Zero, is the full extent of his terrifying powers which I'm not going to spoil, and he can't use it without Integra's command and approval. TLDR, some anime protagonists need power ups , others are so powerful that they need power handicaps just to make things fair.
