The reason Anderson survive that headshot from Alucard was because he underwent a procedure from the Vatican that turns him into a living bio engineered weapon. Basically, if Alucard is a protestant Dracula, then Anderson is a Catholic Frankenstein.

The joke is because Anderson is a Catholic priest, and priests have been involved in sexual molestation accusations and crimes enough times it's almost a comedic stereotype . Hellsing ultimate abridged isn't that far removed from the Hellsing ultimate Ova, aside from the end of the show in the last chapter and some minor artistic liberties. I'll let you know if there's a major difference in the show and the parody.

The One Piece opening was because when they premired the first episode it was at a convention, and they didn't tell anyone what series they were doing. Everyone had been asking for One Piece abridged, so this was a big gotcha moment.

@@blossom357 It actually is, something amazing about short anime/manga is that it really comes from an inspirational point and then wraps itself up nicely, so while it sucks that they’re so short it ensures that it doesn’t drag on and start losing what made it great in the first place.

@@blossom357 You could actually watch the original Hellsing as well if you’d like, Hellsing and Hellsing Ultimate are two separate series, the OG stuck closer to the pacing of the manga but cut out a few things and translated some things for a western audience similar to how DBZ was translated differently for the same reason. Hellsing Ultimate is like DBZ Kai where it re-translates it closer to the manga again, also brought in the cut parts even if it made the show drag just a tad bit, and touched up the animation with some digital upscale and redrawing, honestly Ultimate looks way better but OG isn’t bad by any means and has a straight up 80’s/90’s anime art style that feels so nostalgic.

Looks like you missed it, but the intro was a joke about Twilight, with the two vampires being Eddy and Bella. This series is so goddamn good. I don't think teamfourstar has made an abridged that's any less than a 8/10. They also took roughly a year to make each of these episodes, which is the same thing the real show did.

My favorite of all team four star… the first time I watched it I didn’t know what abridged meant or that much on the anime. It was soo unhinged, yet, interesting enough too keep watching past the “I hope other people don’t over hear some of the lines.” After several viewings the series touches on a lot of points with blunt honesty and with the age of the original release and how it has the rainbow six gameboy advance vibe with the mansion. Also I really enjoy your videos… I never really get into reactor channels. I just enjoy the atmosphere you bring to the videos, very lively!

House of the Dead was a popular arcade game involving shooting a bunch of zombies, and for its era, almost shockingly violent and by far the most violent and gory game in almost every arcade. It wasn't the only shooting arcade game, of course, but the other ones were usually fairly bloodless ones where you went through hostage situations trying to make the bad guys fall over dear before they could shoot you while not being so twitchy that you shot hostages or other things like that where it was more about being an action-hero badass than trying to be the edgiest and most gory thing they could put in an arcade without age restrictions. I was never big on the shooters, but they really nailed what their target demographic of "tweenage boy just old enough to not be scared of zombies and gore anymore" wanted in an arcade game, so they absolutely achieved what they set out to make and probably made a LOT of money on it, as they basically made "Resident Evil, but first person action instead of horror and _just_ mild enough content that they could get away with putting it in front of kids"

This series ramps up pretty fast both in story and humor. The catholic comments are two fold. One, because of all the news about priests molesting children and two, because historically, Dracula was against the catholic church.

The jokes about Catholic Priests being molesters hits pretty close to home. As a Canadian of Indigenous descent, those jokes are actually depressingly tame. Unfun fact: Canada had Concentration Camps for Native children (called Residential Schools) run by Priests and Nuns and the like. Most had mass unmarked graves. They ran from before Hitler was even born until 1997!

Alucard and Alexander Anderson are like two sides of the same coin, thats why they make the same joke about Leprechauns exploding with Lucky charms. But to be honest I don't think either of them where joking, I feel like knowing their characters they are genuinely curious if that would happen lol. Also this abridged is jam packed with so many jokes and inside jokes and cultural references its like a joke per .5 seconds, so don't feel bad if you miss anything. I've watched it like 10 times over and still don't get all of it. Lastly, it's pretty close to cannon.

The first joke, where they show what looks like one piece at the start, is because this was unveiled at a convention at haloween, and only billed as "team four star's next project", and there were rumors going around that they were going to do a "One Piece Abridged", so as a joke they started the video making it look like it was going to be one-piece, then they "Change the Channel" to Alucard killing "Edward" and mocking him, introducing himself as "A real F-ing Vampire"

Note that the first episode was originally intended to be a one-shot as a bit of fanservice, but people responded so much to it that the group wound up doing the entire series. You'll probably quickly notice, however, that the tone and characterization is very different as the show goes on.

The fake-out with One Piece in the beginning was because TFS originally premiered this at a convention, and the start of it was to make the audience think they were going to be abridging One Piece, only to surprise them with Alucard.

Oh, doing TFS's Hellsing now? Good choice. Just like FullMetal Alchemist there was an anime adaptation before, but there was nowhere near enough manga material, so they had to make their own endings and later do another anime that actually followed the story. 0:50 That was the joke. They showed this off at some convention in 2010 or so and made video announcing a new series with a blurred One Piece logo. 11:27 For very real. Hellsing is basically one guy grabbing all the stuff he liked about vampires and such, so the main bad guy is vampire Nazis. Also, Alucard is Dracula spelled backwards and it comes for 1943's Son of Dracula.

actually the part at the beginning where the vampire says he's gonna r the police girl is actually pretty much from the original. Though in the original there is actually a sort of reason, a virgin would become a vampire, a non virgin would become a ghoul. Another vampire anime series worth checking out that doesn't revolve around romance and the like is Trinity Blood.

To address your question in the video, the reason why Alucard and Seras refer to elementary school children is because of the Catholic Church scandals involving pedophilic priests taking advantage of young boys under their care, while the Vatican did little or nothing about it, being content to just shuffle priests around to avoid bad publicity. The scandal was huge in the news around the time Hellsing Abridged was being released.

believe it or not, the original isn't really THAT much different and in some places team four star actually toned things down because the original gets a little too real and too uncomfortable to do comedy with. aside from that the abridged series is amazing, once you get over the fact that half of it is a blatant archer rip-off.

Literally the abridging community at the time didn't think it was even possible to do. Like, it's up there with Berserk in terms of blood and gore. Maybe a bit lighter in theme, but it's hard to be QUITE as edgy as Berserk. Point stands. People didn't think it was possible to make Hellsing Ultimate funny. TFS proved them wrong.

The children's joke is about a lot of religious figures, that assault kids. The most notable of them would be the Catholics. So just keep in mind, most religious references will revolve around that. It is however super refreshing that you're innocent enough to not get that joke House of the deck was an absolutely amazing arcade zombie shooter. 8:40 you missed a lot, when alexander first showed up Alucard said "well if it isn't the catholic church. and no little Timmy glued to your crotch. progress!" that's why he mentioned the elementary school later on. also for reference on the r word being a joke. in the actual anime in order to turn into a vampire you must 1 be a virgin, and b be bitten by a vampire. if your not a virgin when being bitten by a vampire you instead turn into a ghoul. the difference is that a vampire has a will of its own where as a ghoul follows absolute orders by the vampire that made them a ghoul. so to make people submit after being bitten vampires will r them before biting them to ensure they turn into a ghoul.

How different are the Abridged series and the show? This is probably the one with the most differences aside from SAO. Abridged Alucard is nothing like show Alucard. Show Alucard is mostly a quiet character who doesn't say much and who is respectful of Integra and Seras. The fact that Alucard doesn't shut up and is an asshole to everyone in the Abridged series is half the joke lol

The beginning with the One Piece intro was a joke and was meant to troll the audience. Initially there was rumor that TFS's next Abridged series was going to be One Piece, not Hellsing.

It is an old show and at the time jokes about priests molesting underage boys were more popular. Quite a lot of the material is fairly dated. Original anime is absolutely worth a watch. TV series is slower, has worse animation and plot moves into a different direction, but still has some cool scenes. OVA is great, it's basically pure undiluted action fan service.

A friendly warning for Episode 2: there is one character in that episode who is very............. yikes, and TFS didn't change it at all for this series. The episode will have some of the darkest crap in the series. Also, it seems like you noticed how similar Alucard and Anderson are in personality. Ah, Hellsing Abridged. Definitely one of my favorite series from Team Four Star. If I have to be honest, episode one is in my opinion the weakest in the series because it relies on the internet humor of its time: edgy just to be edgy with references that don’t add much overall. Plus you can tell that the mic of the VA who plays Integra has poor audio quality. Thankfully, the show gets so much better in the next episode by using its edginess to tell a story, and it just gets even better from there.
