So, some fun info. All three parts of 60 were premiered on Twitch, and every time we broke the software they used to track donations and subs. Part 1 had somewhere around 25k viewers and part 3 was at almost 40k viewers. When part 3 premiered the sheer volume of bit drops and subs broke their software *before the episode even began.* Chat was scrolling so fast that it was totally illegible, even with slow mode active! I think "Whoa, Nelly!" Is this most criminally underrated quote from DBZA. The delivery of that line, as Gohan charges back up pushing the beam back, in-between Goku's speech, is absolutely genius. That's single handedly, the line that made me laugh the hardest the first time I watched it, and it's the one I quote the most. And I think it is the perfect answer to why DBZA is so good, even during the emotional, heart-wrenching moments, it can still be funny, but not forced, like say the MCU. It flows with the emotional moments, and the hype moments without ruining them.

The original reason Toriyama wanted Goku to stay dead after Cell is because Toriyama wanted to end the story of Goku and move onto Gohan as a way of showing the next Generation taking up the mantle of their Parents. Then when Toriyama was thinking up the Buu Saga he found that fans really loved Goku and he couldn't really write Gohan as a Character to overcome the fan's love of Goku and Vegeta's dynamic.

Back when they were still debating on whether they would do buu or not ( a lot happened in between, they wanted to do it but burn out and just the constant struggle with copyright etc), Goku's goodbye was sort of written as a goodbye to the series too. It's bitter sweet, but with hindsight, it's an amazing end to the series. And it did technically stay true too. It isn't necessarily staying as a permanent goodbye. They're continuing with the story to the best of their abilities, in a way where it's fun for them and us.

And each part was everything Gohan was saying to Goku: "First it was my cowardice, then my hubris, and now my weakness". Each part covered each of those qualities that Gohan had during them. The ending of DBZA hits even harder, if you have watched the original dragonball. Seeing Goku growing as a child, meeting his friends and then seeing the culmination of his character here...its just one of my favorite, most underrated character journeys of all time. Many people's think, that the dragonball series is a shallow show about just fighting and screaming and the fate of the world. And whenever people mention good dragonball character journeys, its always about Piccolo or Vegeta or maybe Gohan. But Goku - my little Monkey boy doesn't get nearly enough love. (And lets not even mention the character assassination that they did to him in super...)

In the intro you could see Gohan as a super saiyan in Piccolo's Gi and I was so excited because I had no clue who it was and it was so exciting. Funnily enough, I can answer Krillin's sign language question. It would be similar to a speech impediment. There actually are accents in sign language. The accents are in the motions of the hands. I can't remember where or when I learned this, but I did see a clip with it, and there is a difference between how someone signs from say a Midwestern state compare to someone signing from the East coast of West coast of the USA. And this probably extends to the global sign language community. I'm not sure how accurate or true the information is, but it's straight from memory.

It's always a treat to watch this series alongside a pair of new eyes. Especially someone who's as much of a Backtrack Betty as I am, rewatching a scene a few times to really absorb it lol. This really is the penultimate way to view DBZ. At least, if one is considering Kai, I think this is like... an enhanced Kai. A great way to get people into wanting to continue to the Buu saga. But speaking of specific moments in this episode. "My baby boy!" sticks out when compared to abridged Vegeta's even more enhanced animosity towards Trunks in the beginning. It really adds weight to this turnaround. And the ending with #18 and Krillin is just perfect. Told you het gets the biggest W in this series. She literally fucked the owned count out of him lol. Was fun seeing your own transformation along the way as you became more invested and eventually reached your final form of a kid in a candy store in these last episodes :D Also... can you 1v1 in Spin the Bottle? I use to coming back to watch the show again from time to time and it always gets me, it's so moving. I was one of the early viewers who had to wait months or even more than one entire year to get another episode. DBZA was constantly improving in every aspect, to the point in which there are several moments that inevitably became canon in my mind (I'm sure I'm not the only one who feels that way), and even after watching it so many times there are still some moments that make me drop a couple of tears. My sense about the show after all these years can be described like this: - Season 1 went from "what is this shit? it's kinda funny" to "hey this shit's quality has actually improved a lot". - Season 2 went from "wow, the shit is rolling so smoothly" to "wtf this is totally next level writing, editing and voice acting". - Season 3 went from "omfg the shit is getting even deeper" to "this is absolute masterpiece, no way this is out of my top 3 favorite youtube things of all time". Then I waited a lot and felt really bad when we got the news that there definetely wouldn't be a season 4 but at the same time I was totally ok with that because the motives of the crew were absolutely reasonable. After some time passed I rather felt good about that ending, because it was a genuine peak of the story, developed and delivered masterfully by this insane people.

I will say… this finale works so damn well. From Gohan’s kindness in saving Vegeta (again!), to Goku showing how proud he is of Gohan after seasons of him not knowing how Goku felt, to Vegeta paying back Gohan’s kindness by saying “f*ck pride! Also, the goku speech, it was thought as a speech from TFS to the fans Also also, glad you got the double THUMP with Krilin, not everyone gets that ahahaha P.S. the voice actress for C18 actually got called to work in DBS because of this series, DBZA was basically her starting point for the big jobs P.P.S. TFS is actually watching and commenting all the episodes, currently at episode 23, if you want more insight and watch it again

That music box end brings me to tears every time. 16 was one of my favorite characters during abridged's cell saga, and the added video cemented a further connection to him. To see him, with his birds, at peace, breaks me. And right at the end you can see he has the halo, proving cell wrong. He had a soul after all

I've been following TFS since like Episode 10 came out and have rewatched the series many times over the years. It was a lovely experience getting to enjoy it once again alongside you. Thanks for the journey, Melon!

"I feel like I would watch this again" Sister, I have spent more time watching this series probably than I have watching any and all forms of Dragonball. I've watched Episode 60 probably at least once a year since the full three part-er was released. I think I re-watched it every day for a week after part three first came out, because the full Episode 60 was a masterpiece all around. From the callbacks, to the emotional moments, to the realization of many character arcs, the entire thing was amazing. I'm really glad I was recommended your reaction series (randomly was recommend your reaction to the Final Flash Episode and went back and watched all of them from the very beginning) because it let me relive what it was like when I was watching this series release by release back in the day. Very cool, and I'm so glad you got to enjoy it the same way I did.

I've watched a shit ton of times DBZA, and reactions are a way to kinda "revive" that feeling of when we saw it for the first time. Also, since TFS changed the intro card, the character that either died or was more relevant to the episode read the disclaimer, and in the first part I've always thought that Gohan read it not only because it was SSJ2 transformation, but also the "death" of the pacifist and birth of the killing machine and becoming the new world's strongest. Glad you enjoyed the ride! You should also check the epilogue of episode 60, Dragon Shortz and HFIL, before stopping the TFS train LUL

I love your whole reaction series! It was so fun going through this whole abridged journey (SAO, Hellsing and DBZA) with you. Btw did you notice when you hear Vegita say "I'm sorry" to Gohan after he scolds him. You then actually hear Gohan say "Oh wow we are fucked" and its the only time in the whole show where its not bleeped.

There's one last episode but that was really cool to see you experience it. I've watched this serie so many times now and it's been great to see your reactions to it as a fan of DBZ. This is and probably always will be my favorite web serie i've ever seen, so it's always a small celebration when somebody else enjoys it tremendously!

I really love how TFS kept most characters relevant, especially Yajirobe. Yajirobe, while briefly, came clutch in OG DB by saving Goku. And I love how the whole DBZA was mainly about Piccolo, Krillin, Vegeta, and, mainly, Gohan. Started off as a fun gig, parody, finished off as a masterpiece.

There’s also the 3D mini-stories that come after this. Krillin&18s date, the birth of Goten, Vegita trying to get Gohan to fight him and Babysitter Vegita&Nappa. You then have the miniseries “Cell in Hell” that brings back pretty much all the villains in various shenanigans.

this was all worth it. i have been watching team four star DBZA. since about 2010. pretty much when they were just starting season 2. and i remember waiting for new episodes to release. waiting to see what team four star does for the next episode. and it was so worth it. tho i wish they continued with the buu saga, this ending made a lot of sense and it was perfect. The voice acting improved so dramtically. that it pretty much classifies as am official english dub. it was so well done. :)

So glad I got to take this journey with you, exited to see you watch some of the other stuff they did as well as the other things you decide to react to. Highly recommend their creator commentary they are doing on the episodes now. on an Anime portion I do think you would enjoy Haikyuu, but sticking to the Dragon ball I really think a good way to scratch that DBZA itch will be the creator commentary

Absolutely god-like work done by TFS. So much of this show was done in such loving detail, even the editing team was on point to a T!! Love this iteration of DBZ. It (along with Funi-Dub) is my absolute favorite “fighter” anime, right up with YuYu Hakusho, and so many others.

Almost every character in this series dies on either a badass final quote or a punchline. Which makes it horrifying when you get to Future Trunks's last words at the start of this episode and it's neither: "Help me... someone... please... help..."
