The fact that Ufotable have added more scenes to the fights to really flesh them out and give them so much more weight than the manga genuinely makes it one of the few cases where the anime is better than the manga. Most of the final fight scene between Uzui and Gyutaro is unique to the anime and it elevates it to another level.

I was having a conversation with my friends and how one of the oddest thing about Demon Slayer was that there was no true internal falling out in the organization. There was no Danzo or Orochimaru, no Aizen, no corrupt world government, no secret assassination in the jujutsu organization, no spies pretending to be heroes. Gyutaro is honestly my favorite Demon Slayer antagonist yet for how his relationship with Daki mirrors Tanjiro's relationship with Nezuko. He serves as an excellent foil and with his offer to turn Tanjiro into a demon even makes Tanjiro realize that he and Nezuko could've been the same had they gone down the wrong path. I also like just how unrepentant he is. Even saying that he knows even if he was reborn he would still be a demon. He wishes his sister had a better life but he knows that he isn't redeemable and never pretends otherwise.

Honestly i think he's the only demon in the series that you can totally understand them becoming a demon. Rui had an extremely weak body but at least he had parents who loved him however, gyutaro has almost nothing he's poor, he's filthy and he gets bullied by litterally everyone for his looks. The only thing he has is his sister but even he thinks she's better off without him because she ends up getting burnt alive because of what gyutaro taught her.

That's what I like about it. And can we talk about its power system? Like most Anime/Manga those systems can make or break it. Bleach or DBZ/Super is a prime example of that. I think that there's something beautiful to the simplicity of Demon Slayer's story. It's just sincere. There's no pretension or trying to act smarter than the audience, and there's a beautiful sense of compassion for every character. What you see is what you get in the best way. It takes a lot of humility, I think, to just tell a story like this without trying to over complicate it. Because it might not have sprawling intrigue or impenetrably deep themes, but it's the Shonen series I've most consistently been able to emotionally engage with. I think that there will always be value in a story that can engender empathy like this, to let you just be happy for, or sad for, or get angry on behalf of its characters. I think we'd lose a lot more if we forgot how to write stories like that than if we forgot how to write densely esoteric stories.

I think the incredible accomplishment of this series so far isn't just that the animation is "over the top;" rather, their accomplishment is that they've actually embodied all of their passions and care in Demon Slayer. Like, I would love to be able to say something like, "Man, if only One Punch Man (or insert any other battle anime in here) were animated like this." The problem with that kind of statement is that Demon Slayer's style is so iconic and unique that the same visual effects wouldn't have the same impact in other stories. However, what CAN and SHOULD be replicated is the top-tier love and attention this studio has given to their work. We can't expect every studio to conform to this kind of style, but we should expect studios to care about how their decisions impact the reception a story or fight will get. Any anime can have a similar, jaw-dropping effect if it's animated with enough intentional awareness and attention to the finer details. Demon Slayer is the embodiment of an anime that the animation team really cares about.

As someone who finished the manga, I gotta say, Demon Slayer is one of the best simplistic stories I've ever had the pleasure of reading through. It definitely earns its uniqueness along the way with particular choices that I've never before seen in Shonen, and the characters do have a good level of depth to them (which is impressive consider how simple they generally are). Where I think it delivers the best tho is at giving a great complete story, a full journey, of not just the protagonist but of the world he submerged himself in. It keeps getting better story-wise from here, and you have epic battles yet to come. If UFOtable manage to get all the way to the end with this as an anime adaptation with THIS level of choreography on multi-layered fights with multiple people... holy fucking shit the future is BRIGHT, its SHINING, you think you got your eyes burnt yet? The thing about Demon Slayer is that it's not only a beautifully animated series, it is also filled with simple, but meaninful messages. When I started watching season 1, I was in one of my lowest points. I almost died cause of kidney complications, a doctor raped me while I was in the hospital, then my ex boyfriend left me, and I also was having family issues. My life was in shambles and I was thinking of giving up and almost took my life. A little later in the way of recovering I discovered the series, and heard Giyu say: "Don't grovel like that and give your enemies the chance to kill you. All your doing is making yourself vulnerable... The weak don't get to make choices, all they can do is be relendlesly crashed by the strong... Don't cry, don't succumb to sorrow, this isn't a time of despair, I know it hurts, I understand. There's no way to turn back time. Feel the rage. The powerful, pure rage of not being able to forgive will become your unswerving drive to take action" it was almost as he was saying it to me, and I swear I felt a shift in my heart. Now I live by those words, and three months after of almost dying, I'm finishing my bachelors degree, going to therapy, went back to work, and going to the gym. This show was trully life-changing for me. I devoured the series, identified with Tajiros's heart, and fell in love with so many characters! PD. Honary mention to Rengoku's last words. And sorry for any spelling errors, english is not my first lenguaje :)

To add to your point of some scenes just "taking your breath away", in my opinion the demon slayer's power system being all about breath is by all means a perfect choice ... if maybe only for the anime adaption. On several occasions when the hype is rising and the scenes get intense, that one "*sucks breath in before technique*" will draw in the audience to do the same, as if trying to prepare them for what is to come, drawing you into the scene even further. It is, in a way, managing to extend the reach of a scene beyond video and audio to an almost physical level, you somehow feel what the characters are feeling. And to me, your average weeb who can't help but whisper along with "Ito Shura" or "Bankai" when it happens, that is as perfect as it gets.

The fact Tanjirou can see this, and accepts it, but he never lets it cloud his judgment, and even if he feels compassion for them, he wont forgive their crimes, THIS, just makes his character all the stronger and more realistic to me (Though to be fair, the guy has something wrong with his head, nobody is that extreme without being atleast a little broken inside, in the traumatic sense).

I do wish there were more enemies that had history with the protagonists that wasn't established in the same episodes they came into conflict. I love when the fights have layers beyond 'demon gonna kill we gotta survive and kill back'; it's a shame we usually only get the full backstories of the demons when they die instead of before the battle. I'm anticipating that the eventual showdown with Muzan (and Akaza) will have much more emotional weight than this arc, not saying that these fights weren't emotional or incredible to look at.

The reason why Ufotable's work stands out is because they have a dedicated digital team that blends their 3d animations with their 2d animations. Their studio has a lack of walls, allowing each department to work closely together on creating visually appealing frames and to build a strong sense of rapport. Before anyone says it, no, they don't have unlimited budget, they get the same amount as any other studios. Ufotable focuses on quality, not quantity. Canipa Effect videos cover a bunch on Ufotable and the interview with Yuichi Terao, Chief of Ufotable's Digital Team on Anime News Network. Also yeah the CEO did pay back the tax evasion scandal. As someone who (as with 99% of other people here probably) started out with Anime when I was a wee lil' lad with Shounen like Naruto, I must say that Demon Slayer also feels fresh. It doesn't feel like this grand meandering journey through this insanely large world, but like a carefully curated show that moves from set-piece to set-piece. The thing that is definitely going to come around to bite my ass when the next season drops, is that I don't really remember the show for its story - it's the HYPE moments that really sell the show to me, which makes it really hard to remember what drew me in, when looking back a few years later. Hell, for this season I took so long to even REALISE that it was up, that I could binge every episode except for the last 2, and it was just absolutely marvelous. Shout-out to the author for not turning Nezuko into some weird gimmick mascot like Sakura was in Naruto, but actually have her have a ridiculous fighting moment. From what I understand, currently Nezuko is hands down the strongest member of the main squad and I loved when she got to show off how strong she actually is. Garnt's take on anime team battles at 5:00 was exactly what I was thinking while watching the series. There are times on usual anime team battles where I'd get bored because fights are separated and usually a battle between characters needs to be finished before it moves on to the other battle and this might take 1-3 episodes each which becomes a repetitive pattern and you'd lose interest wanting to get over to the main fight already.

Based on my analysis of the manga, I have concluded that Demon Slayer does not meet the expectations generated by its popularity. While it is unrealistic to expect perfection from all anime series, Demon Slayer exhibits significant shortcomings in fundamental storytelling elements. It is questionable whether the Mugen Train arc would have achieved the same level of acclaim if it were animated by Studio Deen and JC Staff, rather than Ufotable. I suggest that you consider broadening your anime repertoire, as your strong affinity for Demon Slayer may be limiting your exposure to other series that could provide a more comprehensive understanding of the genre. Engaging with a diverse range of anime would enable a more informed evaluation of Demon Slayer's relative quality.

There's sign that the author wanted to expand the "breathing whatchamalit" eventually like how Tanjiro can mix the Sun and water breathes, or latter info-drop about breathing being branch or shit.. but like most demon slayer plot point it'll get discarded and forgotten due to the rushed ending. But if the story keeps going on I won't be surprised if each of the member develops their own unique breathing techniques eventually

"I strongly believe that Demon Slayer is grossly overrated and of poor quality. The excessive praise it receives has led to a fanbase that is not only annoying but also repulsive. The show's simplicity is often cited as a strength, but I argue that it fails in even the most basic aspects of writing. The side characters lack depth and development, feeling more like cardboard cutouts than actual human beings. Only new fans seem to find the writing impressive, but I believe this is due to the show's poor writing quality. Without Ufotable's animation carrying the show, I doubt anyone would find it noteworthy. The fans' behavior is also quite unpleasant.".😊

I think Demon Slayer's simplicity is what made it explode in popularity. When every shounen anime headed into weirder (JoJo) and more complicated (JJK) plot elements, nobody else was trying a sure fire way to rile up every weeb. Katanas with elemental powers? Why is there not an anime of that yet? It's so obvious and ufotable animating it only made it more popular.

One thing I really appreciate about Demon Slayer is how it makes every big fight genuinely feel like a desperate struggle for the heroes. The upper rank demons are way stronger individually, and the only chance the humans have is through teamwork and pushing themselves to the absolute limit. All the Demon Slayers are so damn convicted to their goal of destroying the demons and saving people that it's honestly so heart warming in our day in age where everyone always has an angle they are trying to exploit. The characters care to such a degree that people can't help root for them even while making jokes about the show being "cringe". I really feel like I understood how bleak their situation was. How devastating these fights can be. It wasn't just another shonoun fight that ends and that's that. Even when it ended, it really didn't. the characters still had more to do, and they never knew whether they really had won until daybreak. For one brief moment, when Tanjiro was crying and asking if they'd won, and Tengen was screaming at him to run, I felt my whole soul quiver. I'm not exaggerating when I say how much this season impacted me, and felt as though even if they are the main characters, and they have plot armor regardless, they feel real, the stakes feel real, and the consequences feel real. Ufotable's use of both 2D and 3D animation is top tier. It's pretty easy to screw up adding 3D elements to a 2D show, as it typically sticks out like a sore thumb. Yet for this, the 3D effects of the abilities add to the scene rather than detract, giving each attack more weight. Don't get me wrong, 2D animation is great. Concur'd about the simplicity. But one other thing I like about Demon Slayer is that when it comes to plot, it does as much as it needs to. It's so easy to have a villain-of-the-week format full of quirky minibosses. Just, like... have the Hashira kill each demon, one by one, till they get to the big bad. But Demon Slayer... doesn't do that. By episode 15, we're fighting a member of the quirky miniboss squad. By episode 32, fully _half_ the quirky miniboss squad is dead, and we got a single climactic showdown with one of them that's easily worth six 1v1s. The show doesn't waste its time... or at least, it knows how to use its time SO well.

Something can be simple and still have deep themes. I would argue that is Demon Slayer in a nutshell. The reason so many people love it is because the themes ARE deep, but delivered in a simple, easy to digest way. Rengoku exemplifies the path of a hero, a symbol of human willpower, giving it his all even if it means death. Uzui fights, loses limbs, to protect the younger slayers and those that he loves. Tanjiro fights to help his sister, to right a wrong that he had no control over. Zenitsu trying to live up to his grandpa’s expectations, trying not to cower in the face of fear. Inosuke, wanting to be the best, even though he never had a fair shot at proper training. Wanting revenge on someone who spoiled his young life for him. At some point, ALL of us deal with these types of themes, even if it is not in the exact same way. That is why people love Demon Slayer, even if they don’t know it.

Though demon slayer's story is just like any other shonen anime, I like that the writer kept it short, easy to follow, charming, and entertaining and I just missed watching an anime that isn't so complicated and one that has an ending. Then ufotable just made it a hundred percent better with the animation. Definitely one of best anime out there.

Agree. The simplicity is perfect for casual non-anime watchers

The story isn't like any other Shonen anime tho? I honestly doubt the main factors of Demon Slayer's popularity is the animation and its simplicity. It'd be arguably easy to replicate Demon slayer's success if the main factors in its formula for success is a usual shonen story, simplicity, and great animation.
@avivasquez41892 жыл бұрын
@@paytonogallagher3284 I mean what makes it great isn't limited to what I just said, I just pointed out the main reasons why I think it was able to penetrate the market a lot easier compared to series that took the shonen formula and made it unique with complicated story and nth amount of arcs to go through before it ends. But of course that's only my opinion.

Arcane just looked like a video game to me. I don’t see how it is more impressive than what Pixar has been releasing for years. Forgive me, but I just do not get the hype with Arcane, it was pretty boring and not anymore impressive than newer video games. I found Into the Spiderverse much more impressive.

You forgot to say that they use one of the best songs and sounds at fighting, dying or any. Its so dramatic you just cant take eyes off, like when Tanjirou was falling and Zenitsu wanted to grab him and episode done. People who needed wait till next ep prob asked WHYYYYYY STOP NOW

I don't mean this lightly when I say that Episode 10 of the Entertainment District Arc is my favorite episode of anything ever. The animation, The voicework, the hype, everything about it was phenomenal and it, and the entire series, deserves the attention and praise it's been receiving. And the craziest part? There are even bigger fights ahead. Thank you Gigguk for discussing this as clearly and accurately as possible, and bravo UFOtable for creating the most astonishing animation I've ever seen.

@@vith4553 nah, I really love it actually. But the new standard is about the anime adaption. The Manga didn't set a new standard, it was the anime, more like the studio ufotable. The reason why it sets a new standard is the huge amount of production value and animation quality, not the story or characters (That doesnt mean I dont like the story or characters, but I'm just saying it doesnt sets a new standard in this terms). But its just my opinion ^^

Ufotable really achieved godly status with this season. Everything was so beautiful. The environment, the characters, the battle scenes, the music, literally everything. U can damn near screenshot any section of the battle scenes nd it looks like a masterpiece. I was baffled from start to finish.
