There was an Egyptian objects tour I visited for a high school field trip when it came to Fort Lauderdale and thinking about the history of the objects was such a weird experience. I was looking down at one of the objects, thinking about all of the generations of people that handled the object, and it gave me an unsettling feeling like the way you would feel swimming over extremely deep water. It almost felt like I was falling into the object, as if it was more of a building to enter than just something to wear. It certainly had a presence to it as if you could interact with it on a telepathic level. At the time, it was too much for me, so I had to walk away from the heavy pressure it was emitting. Now, I would like to meditate in a museum of objects.

I'd like to hear Gordon's impression of the magical atmosphere in Paducah, Kentucky. As I understand it from growing up there, there is a kindly spirit/genuis loci watching over the place. After I die I'd like to become one of its guardian spirits, bringing joy and magic to the residents.

Love this guy. Wish I had more time to think about this kind of thing. Accumulation reminds me of a line from “The Peril That Lurks Among Ruins” by Clark Ashton Smith: “…they are not as the shadows of natural objects, for human time has accumulated in them like unswept dust, and memories of the dead cluster there…”. I would guess that objects you are referring to hold some interest or attraction for the other actors you mention.

About 2 years ago I took a great fall - Several pounds of titanium, a fistful of cadaver bone, a half million dollars, and the King's men were able to keep me out of a wheelchair. The titanium definitely "does something", but I give it zero agency. Nor do I consider it part of me any more than I consider a pair of boots part of me. I have not really given the bone donation with as much consideration as I should, (God, please bless the donor). Truthfully, my life has been mostly shit over the same period of time; with addiction, depression, and grief flowing over me like a tide. I lost most everything: Friends. Income. Lovers. Piece of Mind. When every step hurts, it is difficult to be grateful on moment by moment basis. Perhaps I need to sit with this and assimilate what these "objects" mean.

Thanks so much! A lot to contemplate. I particularly appreciate the way you talk about telling the difference between an "object" that is sacred and those that perhaps don't fall into that category - it's a FELT sense for me. What you say makes a lot of sense. Looking forward to part #3!

In my experience everything has some spirit. The more "life" the more spirit. The more spirit the greater the odds of being awake. The more awake the more agency. Story and experience are life.
