I think the showrunners decided to put the Sylphie chapter in episode 7 instead of episode 6 to serve as a bookend with the very last scene. The scenes of Sylphie in her room thinking about Rudeus parallel with the scene at the end where she and Rudeus are actually alone in his room. Having now gotten that earlier scene, we understand some of the thoughts that must be swirling through Sylphie's head in the final scene, and see how tempted she is in that moment to take off the glasses and reveal everything.

It felt like a blunder of the anime to leave out Linia and Pursena's tyranny of their peers. It's no wonder the punishment Rudy gave the girls felt unjustified, it wasn't shown that they deserved it. I also think they should have pressured Zanoba into his bet and/or changed the punishment on him. The anime makes it seem like Zanoba made a cocky bet, fairly lost but bitterly took the L. In the anime we barely see any of actions that are deserving of the punishment they got from Rudy!

if you're curious as to why the cat and dogs are the leaders of the beast tribes i have a minor spoiler that wont actually appear in the anime. in the prequel, "old dragons tale" the first Beast God, for which the language is named after had two heads, one was a cat, the other was a dog. the two clans are more than likely his direct bloodline.

I absolutely adore how this anime has handled the OP protagonist - Rudy is insanely strong, but his past traumas, desire to not get conceited or overconfident, and experiences with other much stronger individuals has led him to underestimate himself and/or overestimate opponents. It's a very cool dynamic that is explored very well, and I can't wait to see where it goes from here. And don't worry about the spoiler, I think it should be a given that the anime is likely to move some content around so if you are going over things missed from the source material, there is bound to be some stuff that is touched on later in the anime. As long as you don't reveal major plot points it's all good imo.

No, I don’t believe Rudeus was that brutal. Remember how surprised both Rudeus and Fitz were to realize that they wet themselves? I think its more like Rudeus didn’t seem to realize how badly simply being tied up in his room would be for beast folk with extra sensory abilities. (Then there’s also the fact that he forgot to provide a way for them to relieve themselves) It’s more like he underestimated how badly his actions would impact them. What started as something funny, suddenly turned more disturbing because the beast girls actually assumed that Rudeus was going to do something….worse. And I wouldn’t blame them. After all, if someone can go as far as to kidnap you and take you to their place, who is to say they wouldn’t do worse? What they couldn’t have known however, was that Rudeus wouldn’t have gone that far. I feel as though that scene was supposed to be disturbing on purpose. Usually, bullies getting defeated and then tied up to be taught a lesson would usually play out as a comedy. However, on top of the bullies this time being females, it would feel more uncomfortable because of what being kidnapped would mean for females. Adding onto the fact that they wet themselves, and then Rudeus “touched” one of them as a sort of experiment, the scene grew more and more awkward and uncomfortable, until Fitz suggested the harmless prank. God, I really like this show, and its story and worldbuilding, but boy do they really stretch the limits of what can be considered comedy. Trust me when I tell you that I can be really open-minded as to what I can consider comedy and laugh at. However, Mushoku Tensei is pretty much the only story that is pushing the limits for me. I can’t even comfortably recommend this show to anyone. Imagine that a show can have such detailed story filled with vitality, yet can be utterly unrecommendable because certain jokes are taken too far to really enjoy.

What I meant in my previous statement was, it was the author’s intent to start it off as a joke through the battle, but then it was intentionally made uncomfortable later on. I know that the kidnapping part was not meant to be a joke and was meant to be intentionally uncomfortable. What I SHOULD have said in my previous reply was that Mushoku Tensei is one of the rare series that overall pushes the boundaries in terms of showing uncomfortable scenes. It does this really well and I like how intentionally uncomfortable it makes people feel. it’s just that at times, while I do like the realism, it does feel difficult to be a Mushoku Tensei fan at times due to how further down the rabbit hole we go with the story. That’s what I meant to say with all this.

One side note from this episode is seeing Rudeus train yet another silent spellcaster. We're constantly shown that silent casting is *extremely* rare and noteworthy, and yet it seems like it isn't actually that hard to learn with the right instruction. We saw Rudeus teach himself quickly, Sylphie figured out how to do it almost immediately once Rudeus explained how, and now Julie has learned it in a month. I know we've had hints that it's only this easy (or possible) to learn at a young age - though really it's just one hint, since Sylphie's statement was just based on her own experience with Rudeus. But other than that, is the lack of silent casters in the world of MT simply because almost no one manages to think outside that particular box? Or maybe a combination of the two, where various mages might think that it is possible to learn, but only after they're too old to do it themselves? It's probably because an aptitude for magic and even a persons mana is pool is very tiny until a certain age. While it can still be trained with intent, most people would wait until a much later age when their natural mana pool and talents start to show. Obviously at that point it's too late but it makes sense.

Silent casting is not as mana efficient as casting with incants. I think it was 5x or even 10x the mana cost for a silent spell. Rudy can handle it because his mana pool is legendary, and Sylphie's mana pool isn't quite as big but still significantly larger than most. It's not just being taught at a young age, it's developing the mana pool at a young age to be able to afford silent casting that is the problem. Given everyone generally thinks that your mana pool is static from birth, and don't bother teaching kids any magic usually because they generally can't grasp the concepts involved, having a kid be taught magic was exceedingly rare. Even Rudy only got the tutoring after he'd demonstrated casting an Intermediate spell, and recall Roxy at first was very skeptical that the kid could do *any* magic.

@@ShneekeyTheLost i think is a mix of that and the fact that you need to "feel" the mana flow in your body, and some that is used to cast magic might be dulled to the sensation, like when exercising after a wile you stop feeling the fatigue unless you over do it

It's also the fact that when a kid turns 10 they will have a rigid thought pattern so it will be alot harder to mold their thought process to be able to do silent casting. The reason why silphy even recommends kids at 5 years old is that they still have a free mind that can still be molded. So teaching them will be easier cause kids that age have lots of imagination.

@@LazyDeath666Ya, having the flexibility to think outside the box does seem to be crucial. Rudeus just has a huge advantage in that department by starting with an adult intellect from birth. Plus knowing he's in a different world with different rules naturally encourages him to question and push those boundaries (I call it the "free your mind" effect, after the Matrix).

Anyone know if zanaba can train to get stronger sure he is a blessed child, but is that a multiplier or addative? If zanaba was to deadlift and his blessing was addative he could deadlift 200 kg from the beggining then train to reach the max deadlift a normal humman could do around 500 extra kg he would have 700kg total perhaps 50 more since training would be easier yet if the strength would be a multiplier he could reach well above what a normal humman could even with the multiplier beeing small as it could compound ofcourse with dimminishing returns, but it should still let zanaba get 2 to 4 times stronger than a normal humman if he was to max out those dimminishing returns
