She started off a little shaky and tight chested and probably a little nervous performing for such a large crowd of foreign, distinguished music aficionados (Pavarotti is a tough act to follow ya'll), but then she found her stride a little ways in to the song and ABSOLUTELY KILLED IT just like the queens she is... Otherworldly. Ethereal. Transcendent... Hearing her sing with that unique tone of her voice is the closest thing to a religious experience one can have.
@wonderfilled60485 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what it is about Anita’s live performances but as a fellow vocalist I almost always find myself tense when she sings. I’ve heard her belt many times but it’s something about the key she sings in. I get the same thing with Stephanie Mills whereas with someone like Natalie Cole I just relax because I’m feeling her certainty and confidence that if she reaches she will pull that note on down. Hard to explain. Anita is Anita for sure but many of her live performances while stellar have wreaked havoc on my nerves. Lol

In Europe and other countries the audience doesn't react unless it is a festival or outdoor concert. I've seen audiences so still they look like a painting. I'm from Chicago so it was a shock to me. A little too prim and proper

Excellent performance as usual even if it was a bit shaky in parts. I think they the audience probably wasn't familiar with Anita Baker unfortunately hence the relatively unenthusiastic response I was like dayum for y'all for real? Miss Thang sang her ass off . I would have been screaming "do it Miss Anita!' lol but that's me. Anyway I think they would have been more receptive to Whitney Houston singing "I'll Will Always Love You'.
